Tues, Tues, Tues!
Then of course the whole Amazon mythology thing…Xena-like. Which is uber-cool and finey-mc-fine!* Um, talk much to yourself spaz?!
Okay, not only did I love the little Easter egg shoutout in the update, I also loved the rest of the update! Like some others, I had kind of forgotten that NMR occurred during canon S4, and I wasn't sure if you were going to stick religiously to the events of S4. So I was taken by surprise that Oz returned, and in a very good way. It's a hard thing to be both original and faithful to canon, and you've managed it beautifully. BEAUTIFULLY.
The flip side of this coin is that the premise of the story is such that a major departure from canon has already taken place, and who is to say that at the end of this Oz episode that Willow and Tara will come together in a big extra flamey candle kind of catharsis? There's no guarantee of that.
Like Grayson, I found Willow's comments about "it's my fault" to be revealing. While Willow seems excited and is sloooowly catching on, she's still not there yet. Not even close. Which is not to say that she's a bad person, of course. I do think that part of her roadblock is:
1. She didn't intend to make Tara pregnant in the first place (understandable) - 30%
2. She hasn't acknowledged or caught on to her romantic gay-lovin' feelings toward Tara - 70%
I think that until she's able to realize that and assimilate it into her worldview, there's going to be a sort of mental blind spot in her view of Tara's pregnancy, their child, and everything - because it's hard to envision a future together if you're trying to think very carefully, without really embracing your inner gayness, about how exactly all this is going to work. Case in point being, what if Tara or the presumed-straight Willow wanted to have a romantic relationship with some woman or man at some point during their years of co-parenting?
Very, very wonderful, Tues. Well worth the wait - and glad you're back in action. No UPS truck can keep a good kitten down for long!
