Well... I can totally get the how has Willow never met Faith and Tara through Xander because she said that she just found him again after years. But ... why didn't Faith know Willow already? She sent her kid to expensive and fancy private school without meeting the staff and especially the principal? That seems pretty strange. Also, why do Tara and Faith live together? I get that they are friends but do adult friends with very good paying jobs share a house if they aren't involved? I don't know any who do. I would believe that when they were younger and more poor and Gar was younger and needed more constant supervision they might have needed to but why now?

Ok, Willow as totally cute in the store. I can't wait to see the whole explanations, etc.

Is that Del? It seems unlikely that Xander would set Will up with the best friend of the mother of his child, knowing that Willow had a bad ending with said mother's ex. This sentence is needlessly complicated and very soap-opera like. Still it is possible that Xan doesn't know about Del and Faith, and they are all oblivious to their 6 degrees of seperation. And this is all assuming Xander is Garrison's father. All evidence points to that, but it could be a clever fake out.

Spaz Willow, there she is! Ice cold Sexy Willow is well, damn sexy, but Spaz Willow is really cute and fun.

How did I miss this fic?

I love it! It is really interesting, and sweet, to see Willow's both sides, even though she should realize that sexy suits or not, she can still be the confident yet cute girl Tara will fall in love with.

I can't wait to see how Willow will fit with everyone else, I'm glad the rest of the gang is there too! :party

I have to admit that was a good cliffhanger. So Xander is Garrison's dad, very interesting. This will definitely be an interesting dinner.

I'm sorry! LOL, I hope this chapter relieves the some of the cliffhanger badness.

Loved Willow in the CareBear t-shirt, all lost without her power clothes, so cuuuute! And the lovely babble attack!

Thanks!! I love writing "powerless" Willow; It's exactly how I feel when I'm not in my power clothes, LOL.

Also loved booming-voiced Faith cutting right to the chase, under attack by Tara's deadly elbow!

Glad you liked it! Again, it's happened to me, LOL. Never embarrass a friend in front of the girl she's crushin' on...I learned that lesson, LOL.

Sorry Del's not around for the holidays!

Long wait, but you delivered the goods!

Hope you're feeling better!

Keep writing!

Don't worry! Del will be back soon. Sorry about the wait. I have a huge birthday party this week for me and my brother, and we're debuting our band at our party. So we've been practicing every free minute we have. And this week is gonna be ten times worse, LOlI am feeling better, and thanks for the well wishes. And I'm writing as much as I can!

Hope you enjoy the chapter!

Thanks! And I'm sorry I made you wait a whole week for an update...But I'm updating twice this week! So I hope that makes up for the long wait.

Hope you enjoy the chapter ,and thanks for reading!!

You'll find out in the next couple chapters that Garrison's birthday is close to the holiday season, so it was kind of a 2 birds, 1 stone gift. And I'm sorry about the long wait...Please forgive me!

I hope I answered most of your questions a few weeks ago. And I'm sorry about not posting last week; It's been an increedibly busy week. My brother and I are debuting our band this Saturday night at our birthday party, so we've been practicing like crazy people. ButI'm going to post another chapter on Friday; I'm carrying around a little notebook, so every time I have a free moment I can write the next chapter and type it and post it on Friday! I'm really sorry about the wait, and I hope you enjoy the chapter!

Sorry you thought the sentence was complicated and soap-opera like. . .It was not meant to be that way. But everything that I've written in this chapter is there for a reason, and it will be explained later in the story. It is the same Delilah, and the entire situation will be explained when Del gets back from visiting family. Again, I'm sorry that it seemed like that. :(

It's cool that you mention the 6 degrees of seperation thing. I think it's a pretty cool concept and that's what I was going for in this story. It's happened to me before, and it's the weirdest but the niftiest feeling. No fake outs with me!!

Spaz Willow will be making more appearances, but we can't forget about Ice Cold Willow. She is, indeed, incredibly sexy!

Thanks for your comments, and I'll do my best to keep the soap opera out of the story. There shouldn't be too much confusion and angstiness in the story from this point on. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the next chapter!!

You probably missed it because no matter how hard I try to keep regular updates, something always comes up and my schedule gets messed up, LOL. I'm glad that you're loving the story!

I've always wanted to write Willow's character as a confident powerful woman, and I figured this would be a good venue: Education. In the show, I LOVED the appearances of Vamp Willow and Dark Willow: They gave a little glimpse of the kind of energy that our regular Willow possessed, albeit they were both kind if evil. But still...All three Willows were DEAD sexy. (No pun intended)

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the next chapter!! Look for the next one on Friday!

Here's the first part of Chapter 5, guys! The second part will be up on Friday! I'll leave you to the chapter. :)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

CHAPTER 5A

DAD?!” Willow exclaimed, a look of complete and utter shock written on her soft features. She looked from Faith to Xander several times. “Xander. . .You have a son? A teenaged SON?!”

“Yes, Will, I do, but--”

“And you didn’t tell me? You’re my best friend, Xander! You’ve been staying at my house, eating all my food, smelling up my bathroom, playing my Xbox 360--”

“You have an Xbox, Principal Rosenberg?!” Garrison asked from behind the group of grown-ups. He looked around to see four pairs of eyes staring back at him. He cleared his throat and backed away slowly. “I’ll just. . .go somewhere that’s. . .not right here.”

Garrison disappeared down the hall and into the kitchen. Faith watched her son walk away and turned back to the three other people standing near her. She grabbed Tara by the hand as she pointed to Willow and Xander. “You two need to kiss and make up in the next ten seconds because believe it or not, this isn’t about you, Rosenberg. . .or you, Xan. This is about my son. . .Our son. You are here for him, not to fight with your BFF. So do it on your own time and spend some time with your son on Christmas Eve.”

With one last glare, Faith dragged Tara from the foyer and to the kitchen. Xander and Willow stood in silence staring in the direction the two women had walked.

“She’s kinda scary. . .” Willow said quietly.

“That, my friend, is a true statement,” Xander replied. “But she’s a good friend. And she’s a great mother.” He looked over at Willow. “And I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about Garrison right away.”

Willow offered him a weak smile. “I guess maybe you had your reasons.” She looked back in the direction of the kitchen. “I can’t believe you have a son.” The smile grew a little wider on the redhead’s lips. “I guess that kind of makes Garrison my nephew, too.”

Xander smiled down at Willow. “Yeah. . .It kinda does.”

They giggled to one another before a flash of anger shot across Willow’s face and she punched Xander in the arm. “You JERK!!”

Xander rubbed his arm in the place that Willow had punched him. “Uh. . .Ow. What did I do now?”

“I gave my brand new nephew two weeks of detention!” She sighed loudly and stormed toward the kitchen.

Xander continued to rub his arm as he slowly followed the redhead. “Okay. . .And how exactly is that my fault?”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The group had finished dinner and had gone their separate ways. Buffy and Dawn had already left for their annual Christmas Eve party hop. Willow, Tara and Faith had left Garrison and Xander to catch up while they indulged in a glass of wine at the kitchen table.

Xander sat on the couch while Garrison played one of the many video games Xander had gotten him for Christmas.

“Thanks again for the games, Dad,” Garrison said as he took a seat next to Xander. “You want to play a game with me?”

Xander took the controller from his hand. “Sure, buddy. But I’d like to talk to you first, if that’s okay.”

Garrison paused the game. “What’s up?”

Xander took a deep breath as he looked into his son’s eyes. . .eyes that were remarkably deep chocolate brown just like his mother’s.

He studied Garrison’s features, and he could see his own features reflecting back: His strong jawbone and his nose, his protruding ears, and most of all the messy mop of dark hair upon his head. Xander remembered sporting that same hair style when he was sixteen. He smiled softly at his son. My son. . . Xander said to himself.

“I’m sorry that I haven’t always been around like I should have, Gar.”

Garrison smiled back at his father, that same goofy grin that Xander himself was guilty of displaying on occasion. “It’s okay, Dad. I understand.”

“It’s not okay, son. I should have been there for you more than I was. I should have been there when you said your first word. . And when you started kindergarten. And that science fair you won last year? I should have been there for that, too.”

“Dad. . .I understand. What happened between you and Mom wasn’t your fault. The foster system is crazy, and you guys were just kids, barely older than I am.”

“Makes me thankful for your mom and Tara. They took really great care of you; You’re an amazing young man. Better than your old man.”

“Don’t say that. . .Aunt Tara was right. You’re too hard on yourself. You need to stop that, it’s not good for your complexion, ‘old man,’” Garrison said with a laugh.

Xander smiled at Garrison. “I think I’m making the right decision in moving here at the beginning of the year.”

“Really?! You’re moving to Providence?”

“Yes, I am. I’ve been away from my family for too long. This way, I can be closer to you and my best friends.”

“And I’m guessing Principal Rosenberg is included. . .somehow?”

“Will--er, Principal Rosenberg and I were best friends when we were kids, kinda like your Mom and Tara. We grew up together until I moved out here to live with my Aunt Lillian. Then Aunt Lillian passed away, and I was put in state custody. And that’s how I met your mom and Tara.”

“So. . .Principal Rosenberg is your best friend from childhood?”

“The very best,” Xander replied.

“Like Mom and Aunt Tara. . .”

“Yes. . .” Xander said as confusion began to cloud his features.

“And you and Mom were together at one point, well, sort of.”

“For a very limited ‘one time only’ time. What are you getting at, Gar?”

Garrison inhaled and looked at his father. “Forgive me for asking this, but has anyone ever told you that your best friend is incredibly hot, Dad?”

Xander laughed at him. “Yes, it’s happened before. Why, you goin’ hot for Principal, buddy?”

Garrison blushed lightly. “No! Not that, it’s just. . .Well, she and Aunt Tara were totally making googly girly eyes at each other last week. I know Aunt Tara had a date last week with someone, but I don’t know, Dad, I think they’d be good for each other; I think they might have a lot in common, and I know Aunt Tara has a weakness for redheads. I feel bad for Aunt Tara. . .I know she won’t say it out loud, but she’s not happy. So if Principal Rosenberg really is your best friend, maybe you can talk to her.”

“Are you asking me to set up your Principal with your Aunt?”

“Yes. I am, and I know it sounds weird and all, but--”

Xander patted Garrison gently on the shoulder and smiled. “I’m way ahead of you on that, son.”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Faith, Tara and Willow sat around the kitchen table, chatting amicably over their third glass of wine.

“So, Willow, what was Xander like as a little kid? I have to know this,” Faith said as she took another sip of wine.

Willow smiled softly. “Well. . .He hasn’t really changed that much since we were kids. He’s still a goofball, he still has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met, and apparently he still has a thing for brunettes.”

Faith chuckled lightly. “Yeah, well this brunette is happily taken.”

Willow smiled at Faith and raised her glass. “Well, congrats to you and your taken state.”

All three women clinked their glasses and drank. Faith drained her glass and put it into the sink. “Well, ladies, it’s been really fun, but unfortunately I am a little inebriated and a good night’s rest is in my immediate future.”

She stretched languidly before walking toward the kitchen door. “Willow, it was nice to have you visit our home. It should definitely happen again. Feel free to crash in the extra bedroom if you’re too tipsy to drive. I don’t mind. And I’m sure T doesn’t mind either,” she added with a smile and wink at her best friend before she ducked a flying napkin holder. She laughed as she caught sight of Tara’s blood red cheeks. “You two have a good night. I’m going to check on the boys before I turn in.”

“Good night, Faith. And Happy Holidays,” Willow said to the woman.

“ ‘Night, Faith,” Tara replied as she threw another napkin holder. Faith anticipated the attack and caught the small circular object in the air. She tossed it back at the blonde with a grin. “Good night, best friend.”

With that, she disappeared from the kitchen and to the living room with Xander and Garrison.

A pregnant silence filled the kitchen as Willow and Tara locked gazes from across the kitchen table. Both of their heads were swimming delightfully as the full-bodied merlot flowed through their systems. Tara was the first to move her eyes away from the redhead’s captivating stare.

“Would you like some more wine, Principal Rosenberg?”

Willow couldn’t hold back the shudder that raced through her body. Her cheeks flushed with desire as she handed her glass to Tara. “Yes, please,” she answered.

Tara smiled down at the redhead as she walked past her toward the refrigerator to retrieve the nearly empty bottle. Willow watched as Tara gracefully refilled both of their wine glasses and brought them back to the table. “Here you go.”

Willow smiled her thanks and took a sip of the wine. She tried to appear nonchalant even though she felt the blonde’s eyes on her. She finally relented and turned toward Tara. “What is it?”

Tara blushed at being caught staring but she recovered somewhat quickly, the alcohol decreasing her anxiety but stirring her libido. “Can I show you something?”

Willow nodded. “Of course.”

Tara grabbed both of their wine glasses and walked toward the kitchen door. “Come on. Follow me.”

Willow stood wordlessly and followed Tara out of the kitchen. They walked quietly past the living room where Xander and Garrison were still engrossed in video games. They ascended the staircase and walked to Tara’s bedroom.

Tara expertly placed both glasses in one hand as she opened her bedroom door. Willow followed her in and stood in the middle of the room. The sheer size of the room was enough to make Willow gasp in awe.

Willow immediately felt comfortable in the room. Everywhere she looked in the room she could see blue, the comforter on the king sized bed was a astonishing cerulean that resembled the waters of the Mediterranean. Several tan suede pillows were tossed haphazardly near the headboard. The walls were the same blue as the comforter, and numerous frames of artwork were hung around the room. An overstuffed tan armchair was tucked neatly in the corner of the huge room right next to a door that Willow assumed was a closet. Tara’s scent lingered in the warm air of the room, making the redhead’s chest warm and tingly. Willow decided that she liked this room. . .A lot.

“Wow, Tara. . .Your room is huge. And it’s beautiful.”

“Thank you,” Tara said with a smile. “But that’s not what I wanted to show you.” Tara walked over to the double doors of her balcony. “Grab that blanket and come on.”

Willow snatched up the blanket she saw on the foot of the bed and followed Tara through the doors. The first thing she heard was the sound of the water crashing along the shore of the bay. The smell of the ocean filled her lungs and Willow felt herself relax a little more.

Both women stood in silence, listening to the sound of the ocean. Tara handed Willow her wine glass as she placed her own on the concrete floor of the balcony. She took the blanket from Willow’s arms and wrapped it gently around the redhead’s shoulders. Willow smiled as she looked into Tara’s eyes. Tara grinned back at the woman before turning away to pick up her glass.

“This is where I come to clear my head,” Tara started, her eyes seemingly staring past the waters of the Narragansett. “It’s peaceful. And the sunrise over the bay is gorgeous.”

Tara stopped speaking momentarily to take a sip of her wine. “But sometimes. . .My head needs to be cleared. And I’ve been clearing my head a lot lately. . .Since I met you.”

Willow turned to face Tara. “Since you met me?”

Tara chuckled lightly. “Yes. You show up out of nowhere with your fancy suits and your perfect hair. . .and those suspenders. . .”

Willow felt her cheeks and neck burning as Tara spoke. Even though she was a little embarrassed, it thrilled her to no end to hear Tara speak of her so openly. “What about my suspenders?”

Tara chanced a look over at the redhead. “Totally hot,” she replied, that cute half grin upon her full lips.

Willow’s eyes traveled down to those full lips, taking a sip of her wine to cover her wandering eyes. “Really?”

“Yes, really. . .A-and the way you looked at me? You made feel. . .excited around you. And you made me feel sexy. . .And I haven’t felt that way in a long time. It kind of scared me a little.” Tara looked over at the redhead. “I think I may be a little drunk,” she said, a quiet laugh escaping her lips.

“Is that my cue to ‘forget’ everything you just said?” Willow asked. Tara turned toward the redhead and saw the little grin lighting up her face.

Tara laughed and shook her head. “No, it’s not. However, I can’t say that I won’t be embarrassed as hell in the morning.”

“There’s no need to be embarrassed,” Willow said, stifling a yawn.

“Uh oh. . .Someone’s sleepy. . .” Tara said in a sing-song voice as she smiled at Willow.

Willow laughed as she pulled the blanket tighter around her shoulders. “I am quite inebriated myself, and I probably should get to bed soon. It’s been a long while since I’ve enjoyed a wine night with more than just little ol’ me.”

“Well, it can definitely happen again, I-I mean, if you want it to.”

“I think that sounds like a plan, Dr. Maclay.” Willow shuddered a little from the cold air seeping through the comfy blanket that Tara had let her borrow. “It’s getting a little chilly out here. And I don’t know what Xander’s up to right now, but I’m thinking it should be sleeping. It‘s kind of late.”

Tara laughed at the woman. “Come on, I’ll show you the extra bedroom. I’m almost positive that Xander won’t venture too far from Garrison tonight. They’ve spent every Christmas together for the past ten years.” Tara opened the doors to the balcony and stepped into her warm bedroom. “I’ve got some extra PJ’s if you don’t want to sleep in your clothes. I mean, n-not that you have to stay here at all, but I just want you to be--”

“It’s okay. I’ll take the PJ’s,” Willow said to stop the poor blonde from rambling.

“Okay, I’ll be right back.” Tara walked into her closet and began rummaging around. She finally found the silken pajama set she had bought years ago. She brought it out to Willow and motioned for the redhead to follow her. She stopped in front of a door diagonal from Tara’s bedroom. “Here’s the extra bedroom. There’s a bathroom across the hall. We have some extra toothbrushes in the linen closet. Just make yourself comfortable, okay?”

“Thanks, Tara.”

The blonde smiled. “You’re welcome.” She walked backward towards the door. “Do you like pancakes?”

“Can live a day without ’em! Except I’ve had to the past two days because Xander used all of my pancake mix,” Willow said with a small pout.

Tara giggled at the redhead. “Well, I’m making Christmas breakfast in the morning, so pancakes it is.” Tara turned toward the door and began to walk away. She hesitated slightly and turned back toward the redhead. With her face getting redder by the millisecond, Tara walked quickly back to the redhead and placed a soft kiss upon her cheek.

She pulled back and smiled at the redhead, barely meeting her eyes and failing miserably at hiding her flushed cheeks. “Merry Christmas, Principal Rosenberg.”

Willow returned the grin, her bright green eyes shining perfectly in the incandescent glow of the room. “Thank you, Dean Maclay. . .but I’m Jewish.”

Tara giggled softly. “Well, in that case, Happy Hanukkah.” Tara leaned forward once more and let her lips linger close to Willow’s ear, her breath slightly tickling her earlobe. “I’ll see you in the morning for breakfast, then?”

Willow sighed contentedly as her hands traveled slowly to Tara’s hips, squeezing them gently as she pulled the blonde closer to her. “If you keep that up, you might see me later on tonight.”

Tara pulled away and walked to the door, smiling to herself. “Promises, promises, Principal Rosenberg.”

Willow watched the blonde’s retreat and grinned as she began to change into the pajamas. “I like that woman.”

Yay an update!! Great chapter:)

I was kinda wondering if Tara's going to be mad when she finds out that the two of them meeting/dating wasn't exactly by chance and was a Xander set up of sorts. Hmmm...

The Del situation has me curious. It's definitely a nasty little 'Lesbian Dating Circle' you have going! lol

Willow decided that she liked this room. . .A lot.
And I bet she also wouldn't mind spending lot's of time there as well!

“What about my suspenders?”

Tara chanced a look over at the redhead. “Totally hot,” she replied, that cute half grin upon her full lips.
I concur!

Hey, Angie!

Happy Birthday-to-be!!!! :balloons <=Shelby suggested the balloon shop! :laugh

Go easy on the champagne, though! If you see :pinky :pinky :pinky :pinky outside of the KB it's a bad sign!!!

Your birthday, and WE get the gift - how good a deal is that! :party

Xander and Garrison . . loved Xander's little talk and loved them together! :flower

Then the reunion and revelations with our girls and it's NOT the wine talking, it's them letting down a few barriers . . . Nice! And yeah, I'm hoping Tara shows back up in Willow's room but probably not since you love torturing us! ;-)

Anyway, loved this story from the beginning and you've never let us down so keep writing! :kgeek :kgeek :kgeek

:banana :pinky :eatme :pinky Dance of happiness! I love it when I'm smart. Soap Opera-ness is fine, complicated and intricate stories can be fun. Trying to sum up the situation consisely made a weird sentence, though. If a theme of this story is 6 degrees of seperation, I'm wondering how Willow will connect to Dawn, (Anya?) and Buffy. Love that Xan want to be closer to his friends and family. Its the KB, yet Willow doesn't need Tara-snuggles? Blasphemy! lol

Title: Count to Ten

Author: angieb86 a.k.a. Angela

Feedback: Would be extra extra appreciated. I've had this story in my mind for a while now, and I've put everything else on hold until I can finish this one. So if it sucks, please let me know so that I won't embarrass myself.

Spoilers: None.

Setting: AU. There are no real demons, just the ones everyone has to battle at one point in life. This story takes place in Rhode Island; Willow and Tara are in their 30's.

Rating: Overall R, may get spicy later.

Disclaimer: Please don't sue me Mutant Enemy. Or anyone else. I'm only writing this story for the pure enjoyment of it. So don't sue.

Summary: Willow and Tara are at the height of their careers, powerful women in powerful positions. Neither wants a relationship, but what can you say when your heart tells you otherwise? Will they listen to their hearts, or will they put their feelings on the backburner to further their careers?

Note: No beta today, so all mistakes are my own!!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Tara rose to consciousness with a slight headache from too much wine and the feel of warm huffs of breath on her neck. She snuggled closer to the warmth behind her, settling in as an arm tightened around her waist.

Her eyes flew open, the sudden memory of going to bed alone dropping into her mind and waking her instantly. “What the hell?!” she yelped as she attempted to sit up in the bed to see who was laying next to her. The arm around her waist tightened even more and she heard a groan of protest.

“You stay right here, Mrs. Butterworth, because the frogs are right dowen the Maple stream. . .Land Ho!” Tara’s shoulders shook with laughter as she heard Willow’s voice. She was finally able to pry the redhead’s arm from her mid-section, and she turned over to look at the woman. What she saw caused her breath to catch in her throat.

Willow was sound asleep, cuddled right behind Tara. Her bright red hair was splayed across the tan pillow. The early morning sunlight shone through the open blinds of the balcony doors, its rays causing Willow’s hair to sparkle. Her lips were slightly parted, and her deep, whispering breaths could be heard by the blonde. Willow’s features were relaxed and still, and she looked peaceful. And incredibly sexy.

Tara felt the flush of desire creep across her cheeks and neck as she watched the redhead sleep next to her. There had never been a woman who completely captivated her the way Willow did. And she was sure that she had never seen a woman so beautiful.

The blonde turned over on her stomach, placing her hands beneath her cheek. She couldn’t help but run her fingers through the soft auburn tresses. The shift of the mattress and Tara’s warm hand caused the redhead to stir. A small moan escaped her lips as two sleep-filled green eyes sluggishly opened. Tara couldn’t stop the smile from claiming her full lips as she addressed the half-asleep woman in her bed. “Please tell me you have a great explanation for being in my bed this morning.”

Willow’s widened as she looked around and realized that she was indeed not in the extra bedroom anymore. “Oh, god, I am so sorry, Tara--”

The sudden movement sent a wave of nausea through the redhead. Willow grabbed her head and her stomach as she attempted to sit up. “Owie. . .Hangover. Headache. Owww. . .”

Tara reached over and opened the drawer on her nightstand. She pulled out a little pill bottle and grabbed the bottle of water on the nightstand. She gave two pills to Willow and took two for herself. “Take those and drink up,” she said as she handed Willow the bottle of water and got out of bed. “I’ve got to start on breakfast. Word on the street is that my pancakes are the best cure for Christmas morning hangovers.”

Willow managed a smile as she swallowed the pills and laid back in the bed. “Thank you,” she finally said as she watched Tara walk around the room. “And Merry Christmas, Tara.”

Tara smiled back at the redhead laying in her bed. “Same to you, Willow.” Tara grabbed her robe from the back of the ran chair and made her way to the bedroom door. “Feel free to stay in bed and rest for a while. . .I’ll come get you when breakfast is ready.”

Willow nodded and watched the blonde disappear into the hallway. She took a deep breath and looked over at the balcony doors, the sun reflecting off of the bright waters of the Narragansett Bay. She closed her eyes and stretched slowly as she pulled the covers from her body. Willow grabbed the blanket from the foot of the bed and pulled it tightly around her shoulders. She opened the doors of the balcony and slipped quietly outside into the morning air. The crisp, cold winter morning air chilled the redhead, causing goosebumps to rise on her skin. She wiggled her toes inside her socks to keep them from getting too cold.

“I see you’re doing the toe dance, Will,” Xander said from the door of the balcony. Willow turned to face her best friend. “Morning, Xan,” she replied with a smile. The two pills Tara had given her were making her feel better already.

“Morning to you, too, my little red-haired friend,” Xander said. “Pretty morning, isn’t it?”

“It sure is. . .What are you doing up so early? On Christmas, no less.”

Xander turned toward his best friend. “I will not answer that question on the grounds that I was up playing video games with my son all night.” He nudged the redhead softly with his shoulder. “So. . .You want to tell me whu you were in Tara’s bed this morning?”

Willow’s eyes shot open in sheer terror. “Oh, my god. . .She TOLD you?!”

Xander shrugged and smiled. “Not exactly. . .I asked her which bedroom you had crashed in last night and she said that you were in her room. Then her face got really red and she ran to the kitchen mumbling something about wine,” he finished with a chuckle.

Willow put her blanket covered arms over her cold face. “Geez, Xan. . .You know I sleepwalk sometimes. I just never got a chance to tell Tara. Now she probably thinks I’m some kind of Pervy McPerverstein just walking around at night trying to find unsuspecting educators to slip into bed with! Why did I drink so much wine last night?! Tara probably thinks I’m some kind of alcoholic!”

“Will, I think you’ve added too many “probablies” to the situation. You’re making a big deal out of nothing,” Xander said, trying to calm the redhead down.

Willow sighed. “Xander, a couple of weeks ago, I had this whole thing under control, and now I’ve reverted back to nervous, babbling Willow at the sight of that woman. This can’t be happening to me right now. . .But she’s so damn beautiful. I look at her, and it feels like all the air gets sucked out of the room. She makes me tingly everywhere,” Willow said with a little giggle. “And she’s sweet. And she’s so smart. And. . .she smells really good.”

“Run, Willow. Run while you can,” Xander deadpanned.

“You’re not helping, Alexander.”

Xander faced his best friend. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled the redhead close to his chest. “Sorry, Willster. But I get it. You’re nervous.” Xander swayed Willow back and forth, remembering how she loved to hugged like that when they were kids. “And the thing that makes you most nervous is that it’s been so long since you’ve felt this way about anybody for longer than one night. And I think you might feel that Tara may be a little more than just a little fun in the sack. And you’ve proven that to me already: You cooked her dinner and she didn’t end up in bed with you at the end of the night.”

“You really shouldn’t give me credit for that one. . .She was the one who left the house.” Willow snuggled closer to her best friend, his body heat warming her chilling limbs. “I just want to be around her every chance I can get. And I want to talk to her some more. She’s captivating, Xan. I. . .I want to know as much about her as she will let me.”

“I know you do, Will. And I can tell you that she’s probably feeling the same way you are. Both of you ladies have been out of the dating loop foe a while. Just jump back on that horsey and ride.”

“That’s probably the worst analogy you could have used,” Willow said, her voice muffled by Xander’s shirt.

Xander released his hold on the smaller woman. “What can I say, I have a way with words.”

“I’m so glad your son doesn’t take after you. Did you know that Garrison is the reason our comprehensive English and Science scores at Tremwell are so high? You, Alexander Harris, have a future National Merit Scholar as a son.”

Xander smiled his goofy grin, pride shining in his eyes. “I’m so proud of my boy. And now. . .I’m going to be here for everything else he does.”

“What are you saying? Are you. . .Xander? Are you gonna move here?”

Xander smiled and nodded. “I sure am. At the beginning of the year. I think it’s time to be near my family. . .And my son.”

Willow smiled and jumped back into Xander’s arms. She hugged the man tighter as she felt tears slide down her cheek. “I’m so happy. . .I get my best friend back. I’ve missed you so much, Xander.”

“I’ve missed you, too, Will.” Xander gently placed the redhead back on her feet. His smile turned into a look of concern as he saw the tear streaks on Willow’s cheeks. “Are you crying?”

“Yes. But they’re happy tears. Tears of joy, tears of the ‘So glad my best friend is moving closer to me’ variety,” Willow replied as she dried her face with the blanket she had draped over her shoulders. “Have you told Garrison yet?”

“I told him last night. But I haven’t told Faith and Tara yet. I was going to tell them today. I sign my lease for my apartment next week, so I’ll be out of your hair pretty soon.”

“You know you’re never in my hair, Xander. I’ve enjoyed having you stay with me, even though you eat all of my food,” Willow said with a smile.

“Well, I can promise that you will be rewarded for your troubles.”

“And how exactly am I going to be rewarded?”

“Obviously, you’ve never had one of Tara’s pancakes. I guarantee you will never be the same after this heavenly experience.”

“It’s not the pancakes I’m wanting right now, Xander. . .”

“Hey! Watch it! She’s like my sister.”

“Well. . .your sister is sexy.”

“Shut it, Principal Rosenberg.”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Xander and Willow walked into the kitchen to see Tara and Garrison flitting around mixing things in bowls and fiddling with stove settings. Garrison looked up when he heard the kitchen door squeak. He smiled when he saw his father and Willow standing in the doorway.

“Morning, Kiddo,” Xander said as he sat down at the counter as Tara gently sat a mug of coffee in front of him. He smiled his thanks to the blonde and looked over at Willow who was still standing in the doorway of the kitchen. Her eyes were set on the blonde who was currently bent over in front of the sink digging around for something. Her hair bounced softly as she up-righted herself and filled a pan with water. Willow continued to stare at the woman as she walked over to the stove and placed the pan upon the hot eye. Her breath caught in her throat as Tara turned and smiled at her for a second before turning around to finish her cooking. Willow was frozen to her spot in the doorway. She figured out right then and there: She would NEVER tire of seeing Dean McDreamy smile. The thought alone made her blush endlessly, her stomach fluttering softly as the Christmas morning sun peaked through the window and kissed Tara’s tresses sweetly.

Xander’s voice woke the redhead from her Dean-induced reverie. “Willow, are you going to join us in here or are you gonna stand there like a bump on a pickle?”

“Pickle bumps don’t stand, Alexander Harris,” she retorted as she plopped into the stool next to Xander. Garrison poured a cup of coffee and sat it in front of the redhead. “There you go, Principal Rosenberg.”

Willow grinned at the younger boy. “Please, Garrison. Call me Willow. I am officially off duty until the first of the year, so none of that principal stuff.”

“Okay. . .Willow it is.” He sat the creamer and sweetener in front of her and continued helping Tara around the kitchen.

Willow smiled and sipped her steaming cup of coffee, the hot liquid pulling the last vestiges of hangover away.

Xander and Willow made idle chat while Tara and Garrison continued cooking breakfast. The wonderful smell of baking cinnamon rolls wafted through the kitchen as Tara opened the over to check them. Willow could feel her mouth begin to water at the scent of all the food being prepared in front of her.

Tara was making pancakes and hash browns at the stove and Garrison was placing the bacon in the broiler. A few seconds later, the kitchen door swung open. Faith stumbled into the kitchen and sat on the other side of Xander. “Good morning, all.”

“Good morning” resounded around the kitchen around the kitchen area as Garrison quickly fixed a cup of coffee for his mother. He walked around the counter and placed a kiss on her cheek before putting the mug down in front of Faith. “Thanks, kiddo.”

Faith downed half of the hot dark liquid before taking a deep breath. “You know, T. . .I really wish you would make those Christmas cinnamon rolls more often than just Christmas. I have to wait a whole damn year. . .It just ain’t fair.”

“You are an English professor, Faith. Use your big girl words,” Tara said as she continued stirring the eggs in the mixing bowl she had in front of her.

“Not today, I’m not. Today I’m just Faith, enjoying the holiday with my son, my best friends, and the notorious Principal McHott-grrrblefffsjngof,” Faith’s finished her sentence around the dirty dish towel that Tara had stuffed in her mouth. The dark haired woman laughed at the horrified look on Tara’s face.

Tara chanced a look over at the redhead. Even though her cheeks were bright red, the green-eyed beauty was smiling at the blonde.

“Geez, Mom. How rude can you get?” Garrison asked with a grin. His smile quickly faded as he caught the mock anger on his mother’s face.

“Oh, don’t let me even get started on you, buddy.” Faith nodded smugly at Garrison. “That’s right. Be afraid.”

They all shared a laugh as Xander stood and grabbed the pot of coffee, refilling everyone’s mugs. “Well, I for one am ready to get my grub on. Tara, Gar. . .How’s the food looking?”

“Almost done with the pancakes and the cinnamon rolls. You guys get washed up and settled at the table, and I’ll be there in a few.”

The kitchen emptied fairly quickly as Tara continued making pancakes at the stove. She turned to retrieve her discarded dish towel and was shocked to find a pair of green eyes looking back at her from the island. “H-hi. . .You startled me.”

“I’m sorry.” Willow stood and handed the blonde the towel. “So. . .Is that what people call me? Principal McHottie?”

Tara groaned in embarrassment. “I am so sorry that you heard that. I think she exists just to embarrass the hell out of me sometimes.”

Willow laughed. “McHottie, huh? Must be those sexy suspenders you were telling me about.”

“Oh, god. . .You remember that, too?”

“I remember everything you tell me. I remember you telling me that you grew up in Pascoag. I remember you telling me that you love to cook Italian food. And I remember you telling me that you like waking up with hung-over redheaded principals in your bed on Christmas morning.”

Tara giggled. “I never said that.”

“Well. . .now you can add it to the list,” Willow replied, smiling as the blonde continued to giggle.

“You’re gonna make me burn my buns.”

Willow chuckled softly. “I do not want to be responsible for burned buns. I’ll go wash up now.”

Tara smiled and nodded, watching the woman walk out of the kitchen. She let out a long breath, her smile a permanent fixture on her face. She continued her few duties around the kitchen before joining the others in the dining room.

They were all sitting around the table chatting amicably and waiting for food to be served. When Willow saw the blonde walk into the room, she immediately rose to assist her. “Do you need some help in the kitchen, Tara?”

Tara smiled and shook her head. “No, Willow. You’re a guest here, you don’t have to help me.”

“I want to. . .It’s okay. I can work my way around a kitchen. At least let me help you bring out something.”

Tara nodded. “O-Okay. I could use some help with bringing out some of the dishes.”

Willow smiled as she lifted herself from her chair. “Good. Just tell me what to do. This is my first Christmas in a while that I’ve spent with actual people,” she explained with a laugh.

Tara smiled. “Just follow me.” The two women walked into the kitchen, the breeze from the swinging door slightly lifting the redhead’s hair from her shoulders. Tara leaned over to open the bottom cabinet. “I have a few serving dishes under here. Garrison bought them for me a couple Christmases ago and they’re my fav-”

Tara nearly dropped the dish in her hand as she felt two strong hands pull her up from her crouched position. Tara turned around to see darkened green eyes staring intently at her. At her lips.

“W-Willow?”

The blonde barely bit back a loud moan as she felt Willow’s soft lips press against hers. She unceremoniously sat the dish on the counter and entangled her nimble fingers through Willow’s bright red locks. She felt the shorter woman’s hands snake around her waist, pulling her closer. Tara slowly opened her eyes when she felt Willow’s lips brush lightly against her cheek.

“Mmm. . .Okay. . .” Tara muttered.

Willow squeezed Tara’s hips lightly. “I’ve been wanting to do that for a while now. . .And I kinda want to do it again. Right now.”

“I’m not stopping you,” the blonde replied, smiling softly. Tara leaned closer to the woman, her fingers still buried in the soft red locks. Their lips connected once again, and for a split second Tara could feel a soft breeze wrap around them. The sound of the kitchen door swinging shut and throat being cleared made the two women spring apart, red-faced and lips tingling.

“Well, well, well. . .What is going on in here??”

Hey Angie!

Soooooooo happy to see this fic updated...I can't believe it's been a year! But none the less, I was thrilled:) Glad to see you broke out of the block. Anyway, sleep walking Willow waking up in Tara's bed was perfect. It's kinda nice to see the slightly flawed side of 'Principle Rosenberg.' Now you have me wondering who caught them kissing..... :hmm I guess now you HAVE to update and soon!
