The Tea thread

Postby sweet satin lover » Thu Sep 04, 2008 4:25 pm

Hi there! Well since there's a coffee thread I thought I would start a tea thread where you can all talk about your fave types of tea and how you like them and fave flavours brands and all that stuff.

My fave tea's are
Regular blend with a little milk and sweetners
Redbush tea ( Its south African) I have that with milk.
Vanilla tea- without milk and no sugar or sweetners
Typhoo Cherry Tea I also like most of their other flavours.
Lipton's iced tea- any flavour
Twinings Iced tea- any flavour
The London Herbal company ( I think that's what its called) Strawberry and Vanilla tea.
My mother always says that if a person cant say something nice, and be kind then they should not say anything at all.

I really like this tea from Einstein's Bagel. It's called Hot Cinnamon spice (i think). It has a cinnamon flavor, but isn't too strong. It's really good on rainy or cold days, when I'm not in the mood for coffee. I also like some mint teas since they make my mouth all fresh and tingly.

Ah, tea. Though coffee is my work-horse drink, I do enjoy a cup of tea now and then. After all those years in Japan, though, I tend to prefer Asian teas - Japanese green tea, mughi-cha, oolong, jasmine. I used to love going to the tea shops in Chinatown.

I don't drink quite as much tea anymore now that I'm back in the States. Mrs. Gorn still gets authentic green tea from one of the Asian shops; her folks also send it to her from overseas sometimes (if you're drinking anything from a supermarket that says "green tea," I can almost guarantee it's not the real thing, no matter what it says on the box).

Here in the South, sweet tea is the drink of choice. I can't quite get used to it, but - oddly enough - Mrs. Gorn loves it. She was shocked at first to see people putting SUGAR in their tea, but she took to it pretty quick. For me, I guess it's like my coffee - I don't want anything else in it.
I spent most of my money on liquor and women,
The rest I wasted.

Ideally I won't drink anything but Twinings...but I suppose Tetley is OK for iced tea...as long as there's none of that orange pekoe crap in it...YUCK...I always say, orange pekoe is the piss of people who've been drinking real tea

Oh...faves...Twinings all of course...Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, Darjeeling and for the days when you need a good strong cup, Prince of Wales...English Afternoon isn't bad either...just keep away with that Earl Grey...like someone spilled perfume in the cup

Oh, I'm not that fond of tea and only drink it when I'm like uhmmm really, really, really sick. There was this incredible mix once that I liked. Something with strawberry and cream or so, but it was limited and now I've gone back to drinking coffee ;)) ...

My number one tea is just normal tea with a biscuit just dip it in and sop it up. But beside that I love liquorice or cinnamon.

Hi my name is dyni and I am addicted to tea. Ah, tea *satisfied sigh*

In the morning english breakfast or just regular tea, normally the supermarkets fair trade stuff. In the afternoon I like earl grey. I drink about 10 cups aday, but often not as many if I am not at work.

My most favourite is Russian Early Grey, it has a nice citrus taste to it too, abit like twinings Lady Grey, but more lemony not orangey, with just the right amount of burgamon (sp). I discovered it in Finland, it is not very easy to find over here but I can get some online.

I always drink it black what ever type I drink, apart from if I forget to say or someone forgets when making it, then I am usually too polite to ask for a new cup so drink it very very slowly and normally not finish it.

I'm completely addicted to tea/caffeine. I usually make my own and when I do I make a mixture of Luzienne and Republic of Tea either Vanilla Almond or Blackberry Sage. I also love Roobois (sp) either chocolate or Vanilla or plain. Oh and I got some fantastic Jasmine from the Asian market for when I don't want caffeine (not common). I'm totally a Sonic fiend and drink their Iced Tea when I can. My big thing is that I like my tea very strong. Very strong.

Repeat that. Strong or what's the point?

A special thread for us tea-lovers: how wonderful!

Tea had been one of our primary products for export until production waned leading to insufficiency for the external context but we have laid emphasis on the local market which is quite a flourishing one. Drinking tea with milk has remained part of a traditional breakfast ever since our days of being colonised by the British. Few companies and homes now bypass mid-morning and afternoon tea breaks.

Vanilla, cardamon and elaiti flavoured teas are an all-time favourite but these are followed closely by their counterpart bergamot, coconut and exotic fruits packages. I'm not such a great fan of herbal and green teas but I have never managed to remain indifferent when faced with a cuppa of ... citronella and ginger tea. It's strong and very efficacious for those long revision nights.

Of course, needless to add that mint tea tops my list.

A tea thread, nice one!
I may sound a bit common now but as long as it's nato standard (that's white with 2 sugars or 2 splenda in my case) I'll drink it
I like it strong & not too milky, as we brits say "a builder's brew"
As for brand's I'll drink anything but the really cheap stuff, yuck!
Becoz I'm pagan, I prefer organic & fair trade if possible + supermarket's own brand organic's cost only 10-15 pence more than the none organic for a box
I love the lipton iced lemon tea when it's hot & sunny outside

I'm fond of a good english breakfast tea with milk and two sugars. But right now I'm going for herbal. Chamomile is lovely at this time of night.

Oh, and I still need to buy a tea strainer... I keep forgetting.

So, after reading about it in a fanfic, I tried adding a little rum to Earl Grey. Really good. I have the coconut kind, but I think spiced would be good as well. It gives the tea a nice, spicy undertone. I drink it like this in the evening, of course.
