And then when I was 11 and had on my new school uniform, new socks, new shoes on and was going to my new secondary school, Dr. Maurice Cure SSS on the very very first day of school on 11th January 2005 ... I saw a very pretty girl standing on the bus stop in the very school uniform I was wearing!

Her name was Praveena and I had an instant crush on her. I think it lasted for 5 full years of our schooling together.

First celebrity crush: Kristy McNichol "Buddy" from the '70's TV show Family...the most adorable tomboy on the planet! She also starred in the summer camp 'coming of age' classic, Little Darlings of which I desperately wanted her to hook up with Tatum O'Neil.

First real crush was when I was 4 or 5 and I distinctly remember this little neighbor girl from when we lived in an apartment in Washington, DC. God, she was adorable and I remember I just wanted her to like me. So, I did everything in my power to impress her and make her laugh. I had no idea it was a crush, but looking back...it totally was.

Okay, my first celebrity crush was re-runs of the Patty Duke Show - I had a TOTAL CRUSH on Patty's cousin Cathy - she was shy, smart, and a total original. Believe me, I had day dreams of hugging her and kissing her and holding her hand. I was so young that's as far as my mind could imagine . . . I remember an episode that focused on Cathy and I was thrilled that Patty was gone and I had all that time with my dream girl. In elementary school there was J.W. in the third grade and I feel for Rebecca in 8th grade - 10th then Kathy from 10th through my sophmore year of college. The tragedy is it was all sucky unrequited love-with-straight-girl stuff. Thank god I found GirlsTown!

YES! YES! YES! I Janet! I turned 17 in 1984 and that song became my personal anthem, lol. I think I still have the cassette tape floating around here somewhere too! After reading this post I had to go watch the video and all I can say is....adorable!!

My first crush was on my best friend Kyle in kindergarden but I can hardly remember that. My first girl crush was in ninth grade. I noticed a girl named Kelly in my art class walking down the hallway and my heart kind of sped up and my stomach felt all fluttery. She was a junior and she was gorgeous. I would spend hours in the art room staring at her while she wasn't looking and then looking away when she looked in my direction. My feelings for her made me want to burst with excitement and she was the one who made me realize I was into girls. I wrote her a Anonymous poem and left it in her art locker. She eventually realized it was me who had written it and she told me not to sit near her ever again. She broke my heart but I'm still happy I met her.
