I have managed three hour long Eliptical sessions this week (M,W, F) but haven't been able to post regularly because the other computer has a short in the monitor cord. They've been good workouts. Right now I'm waiting for the sun to rise so I can go for a bike ride.

Oh, and I've given up snacks after 8:00 P.M. trying to cut down on my calorie intake.

I did go for a bike ride. It was fairly miserable just because my bike is so crappy. I can't shift and the tires turned out to be partially flat and I just don't feel safe trying to accelerate from a stop in the wrong gear or with it slipping gear. I guess it was better than no workout though.

51 minutes. 579 calories. 158 av hr.

While I thought my last game of soccer for the season was last week, it turned out that we had a game yesterday. I wasn't really in the mood for playing because I had already planned my day out on the couch watching Stargate.

Anyway, it was a crap game that we lost in pouring rain and there had better not be a game next week! I'm looking forward to playing just indoor soccer for the next few months.

I started kickboxing (inspired by guess who?) 2 months ago - I have lost a stone in weight since then (not sure what that is in American ;-) ) and am generally feeling fitter than I have since I was 20! (I'm now 31) Me and my girl go 5 times a week - we have our first grading this week. I can't state enough how positive this has been for me - I felt fat and out of shape before and now I feel trimmer and generally in better health. I also train with weights twice a week to build strength. Exercise rocks - I never thought I'd be saying that...

So go kittens, go! :pride

I elipticaled yesterday for an hour. I can't remember the miles. Oh wait. I know why. Duh. I didn't eliptical. I went to spin class. It was a good class. I only ran my HRM for 41 minutes which was 409 calories although there was the warm-up and cool down too.

Today I got to go use the killer stair machine that I love so much! One hour. 295 flights. 6.12 miles. 732 calories. 169 av. hr. That's the hardest workout I have.

Everyone is doing so great. It's great to see GG back here and Millerchip - that is so awesome. I think the best part is that you're having so much fun. Oh and I just looked it up and a stone = 14 pounds so that's a pretty good amount.

I went to the gym today and did the stair machine again. Obviously this was a very different machine from the one I usually use because I went from level 4 to 8 as opposed to 9 to 13. I ended up at 4.18 miles, 200 flights, 792 calories, 173 av hr. (compare that to a few days ago). I haven't decided if I'm going to go for a bike ride in the morning. The wife and I both have massages scheduled and someone needs to go to the grocery.

You know that commercial for Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee?

"You neglected to mention the sleeper sofa."

"I forgot all about the air hockey table."

"Reluctantly helping my friend move."

;-)

GG i.e., that's how I've been getting a work-out the past few days. Out

There was a speaker I carried down three flights of stairs, that had to weigh more than 50lbs! :shock Thank God I had my lifting belt w/ me...

Crap! I just lost a long note.

GG - great.

Millerchip77 - Congradulations.

Me: hiking monday. lifting wednesday. long walk Wednesday. Friday - eliptical. Today stair machine: 60 minutes. 302 flights. 6.33 miles. 723 calories. 162 av hr. I think the calories and av hr are both lower than they should be because I would glance at my watch and it would say 119 or 121 for hr although I could see on the machine that it was 178 or 180. So I must have been picking up someone else's watch.

Oh, and we're shopping for a bike for my birthday. We went to a few shops yesterday and may go back to the big one today. We've been looking on craigslist but without much luck.

Aw, Deb, new bikes are great. My old one got stolen last year, but it was on it's last legs anyways. I got a great new Diamondback hybrid and love it. Good luck with the hunt, I hope you find the one you're looking for.

p.s. happy birthday!

Hey ZB - thanks for the well wishes. My birthday is actually in a few weeks but we got the bike today. I got a Fuji that's mostly road bike but a little hybrid. It seems like there are about 7 types of bike in the hybrid category these days. I went closer to road because it was much lighter and faster. It was more $ than I wanted/expected to spend but the inventory was a little low and I really liked it.

Ok, I can't get photoshop to upload the actual picture of my actual bike so here's the page from the manufacturer.

Yesterday was lifting day. I did the treadmill, leg press, leg lifts, ham curls, lunges (only one set), bi curls, and abs. I also walked to and from lunch.

Today I went for a ride on the new bike. It was a little challenging because there was a lot of traffic at 7:00 but I had a great time. 58 minutes. 642 calories.

I didn't work out for 3 days - feel softness creeping in - wanted to rund today but torrentail rain put paid to that idea. Am kickboxing tonight though and I hope I get to spar with the macho 'I pull no punches' arsehole I sparred with last time - it'll be payback ;-)

I elipticaled today. I felt kind of blech but I did it anyway. I started on the cross country program but it was really dull so I switched to interval and really ran. Ended up at 60 minutes. 7300 steps. 4.55 miles. 532 calories. 132 av hr. I'll take tomorrow off because I donated blood today and Sunday will depend on our weather.

I went for a good bike ride this morning although there was a wicked wind (first head, then cross, then a little tail). I went out past this new Lake that they built in our town and back. I'm trying to figure out the distance right now. But it was 1 hour. 710 calories. 161 av hr.

By google maps the ride was 13+ miles.

Not so much a fitness story as a post-fitness story.

Had a nice afternoon at the gym, I was going to go in the morning but decided to finish readings for Tuesday and go in the 'ternoon when it would be less busy.

Get to the gym, luck out with a solid chunk of time to watch not only the end of Erin Brockovich, but also the beginning of My Cousin Vinny AND during commercials, The Mummy II(God, Rachel Weiz...). Call it quits, leave the gym, walk outside and BAM! Humifrickendinity. It is hot outside, my glasses started fogging for a minute, nuts.

Off to a cold shower for me!

ZB - happens to me nearly every day. I don't wear glasses but my car steams up when I get into it and drive over to the bus stop. Not today though. Today it was about 70 degrees out. Lovely!

I ellipticaled today. An hour. 4.90 miles (almost made 5 miles). 7500 steps. I wasn't wearing my HRM and the bad thing is I got a blister. Boo hiss.

Last night I did a two hour session at kickboxing. I did regular training and then did a sparring class - I got punched in the face repeatedly by men 3x my size and skill - it was SO MUCH FUN!!!

I feel more butch than usual this morning - I'm gonna go and put some shelves up or something ;-)

Can any of you lovely kittens offer me some advice? I injured my foot at the weekend (tripping over the vacuum cleaner - see? Cleaning is bad for your heath!). I have badly bruised the little toe and the one next to it on my left foot - it hurts a lot less today. I'm supposed to grade at kickboxing on Wednesday, no contact just line work - should I do it or rest?

Thanks!

I think I worked out Monday. Wait, nope. Then Tuesday, I went to the gym, went 20 minutes on a elliptical and got sick to my stomach. Tried to go to work, went home sick. Two days home, no more working out. I'll get going in the morning. Yuck.

I ellipticaled this morning. One hour. 4.76 miles. 7600? steps. 581 calories. 140 av hr. Instead of ESPN, the tv showed three local stations, one of them twice. Like I care about the traffic and weather. Weather? Hot. Traffic? I ride the bus. I don't care. I wanted to see football highlights. So I sent another e-mail and this time actually got a call from a manager who said that the guy at the front desk can change it (even though he's told me he can't before) and that it should be on ESPN, ESPN II, Fox Sports News, and Fox News. Then we chatted about weekend hours.

I lifted this morning. Treadmill then lunges, leg press, leg lift, ham curls, tri pressdowns, chest press, shoulder press. Oops, I forgot to do bicep curls. Oh and I did abs.

I ordered one of these last night. It might be a total rip off but I'm going to try it. If it's junk, it's only $20.

I went to spin class yesterday. It was racing day which I'd never heard of but it was fantastic. It was a very hard workout with the entire class lasting about 1 hour including cool down and warm-up but I only used the HRM for 37 minutes. In that time, I burned 407 calories. Wow.

The only downside was that it put the Backyardigans RAcing day song in my head from then till now.

Hiking and lifting.

Lifting and hiking.

I still keep at it, Kittens, though not as often as I should! (And post about it here even less, I see :smash)

Today, I was hiking in the Nature Area again: lovely carpet of brightly colored leaves, everywhere! :) [Love Michigan in the fall . . . if only there were jobs here, sigh]

Anyway, here's the stats:

Time: 46:46
Steps: 5461
K/cals: 247.4
Miles: 2.58

GG I wish good workin' out to everybody here! :pinky Out

GG - I just love the sound of hiking the Nature Center.

I got up early today and drove into town because there's a gym there that's 24 hour. My SIL is always saying it's totally Ghetto but it wasn't bad. I did 15 minutes on the stair machine (52 flights, 1.80 miles or so) then 45 on the Elliptical. 6000 steps. 3.93 miles. Total was 563 calories and 138 av hr.

I went to lift today. I have so much more fun doing cardio but I know I need to build strength and muscle mass too. Today I did treadmill, lunges, leg press, leg ext, ham curls, lat pulls, tri pressdowns, and abs.
