I used to play WoW, and then I realized I did absolutely nothing but play WoW and work for about 6 months, and had to actually buy a new computer and avoid installing it to get away. It is a really good game, but completely life-sucking. I prefer City of Heroes for MMORPG's. It's a fun game, but not nearly so addictive.
Here's my list of my three favorite games, which I highly recommend. Each has a really fantastic story, I have replayed each at least four times, and each lets you make a character who is not only totally a lesbian, but a lesbian who gets a girl. I will list them in order of gayness, from least gay to most gay. As a somewhat sidenote, my three favorite games were all developed by Bioware. I have no connection to this company whatsoever - they just make awesome games.
Knights of the Old Republic IIMO, this is the best Star Wars game ever. You are a member of the Republic Fleet, thousands of years before the rise of the Empire. Your ship is carrying an important Jedi passenger, and when it is attacked by the Sith, you have to rescue her, and then help her save the galaxy from the Sith Lord, Malak. Or, y'know, decide to be a bad guy, and take over the galaxy yourself. Whatever.
If playing a woman, you can flirt with, and eventually come to an understanding with a woman named Juhani. It's very blink-and-you'll-miss-it, and is very subtext-y, but is obvious if you've played through as a woman and played through as a man (and I've played this game five times, so ... I did), as this character's reaction to you is subtly (subtext-y) different if you're playing a woman. It actually took me four play-throughs to find this, because it's that subtle.
The other secondary characters are interesting and fun. My favorites are T3-M4 (a proto-R2) who is extremely >cute<, and HK-47, a very different droid who has some of the most hilariously violent dialogue in the game, and refers to organic lifeforms as 'meatbags'.
This is the only game I can think of that actually made me >want< to play through as a bad guy (I prefer being nice to people, even in video games

), and this game is detail-oriented enough that, should you be a bad guy, and should you gain the "Force Choke" power, it does show up periodically as a dialogue option.
This game does have a sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II, but I would not recommend it: it has some nice upgrades to the game system in the original, and is fun to play, but the plot is confusing and ... well ... kind of dumb. I have replayed this game several times in the vain hope that, this time, the game will make some kind of sense, and by the end of the game I will understand what the hell just happened. No such luck.
Gayness: 3Jade EmpireYou are the foremost martial arts student of Master Li, at his martial arts school in the sleepy little town of Two Rivers. You're living in interesting times, as the dead are restless, and their spirits walk the land. When Master Li disappears, you set out on a quest to find him.
If you're playing a woman, you can hook up with the Princess. No, I'm not kidding - if you play your cards right, you can live happily ever after with the Emperor's daughter. I find it a little boggling that there is not only a lesbian love-interest included, but that the lesbian love-interest is someone as politically and socially important as a princess. Not very significant in game terms, but oddly progressive when you think about it. The male love-interest in the game is attainable for both male and female players, and I can't think of another game at all that has the possibility of a male/male love story, so it gets extra gay points for that. It loses some points on principle because, of the two female love interests, one is attainable for female characters and one is not ... and both are attainable at the same time for a male character, if played 'correctly'.
Gayness: 8Mass EffectYou are Commander Shephard, with the Alliance Military. You're serving under Captain Anderson, the Captain of the Normandy, a prototype ship on its shakedown run. And then your mission goes awry. Naturally.
Bioware stands by the idea that this game is not gay, because the lesbian love interest is an Asari, an alien race that is mono-gendered and does not have any real concept of male/female. Sorry, Bioware. Nice try. Dr. Liara T'Soni is totally female, and seriously into you. She is also the brainy type, shy, and kind of a spaz. This game has a Paragon/Renegade system in which you gain paragon points for being kind and helpful to people, and renegade points for being a short-tempered bully. I mention this because my only complaint about the Liara character is that, having no gender preference because she is an alien, I found it a little jarring that she has no personality preference, either, and wish the game designers had made her a romance option for paragon characters only. And, well, I can forgive a lot for a game that gives me a tasteful yet R-Rated sex scene.
This game works fine as a standalone, but is made more interesting if you've played KoToR I, and are aware of the following: Bioware somehow did not get the contract from LucasArts to do Knights of the Old Republic II (bad move, LucasArts), but rumor has it that they had the plotline for a trilogy all developed and ready to go. More rumor has it that they retooled their planned follow-up to KoToR I and that this game became Mass Effect.
