I know technically it's Friday, but I haven't been to bed yet, so it's still Thursday to me.

Just got off work at the bar, tired, having a beer, and doing a jigsaw puzzle. Made a new friend out of a prospective client, rode 6 miles on my bike, have been on my feet for the past 10 hours....all in all it's been good. Exhausting, but good.

Except, the fact that the girl I like doesn't make an effort to communicate with me makes me feel pretty bummed. I'm still planning on visiting in a couple of weeks, though. If today is any judge, I think I can be one charming son-of-a-gun when I least expect it. Maybe that'll change her mind. Should I show up with specially made vegan strawberry-rhubarb pie? Hmmm.....perhaps I'll mull this over until next Thursday.

Whoa, almost slipped off the first page, MKF!

Our plant started buying lunch for our employees in an effort to boost morale and thank everyone for the long hours and overtime that's become a fact of life these last few months. Last week was Kentucky Fried Chicken, today was Pizza Hut. I was on the committee to put all this together, and guess what day I recommended we do it on each week? Yup, the only thing better than free lunch is free lunch on a Thursday!

The neat thing is even without any of them even knowing how or why, Thursday has become a special day around here, something everyone looks forward to. Such is my power, MKF!

3 cheers, gorn, for spreading the Thursday joy. My joyful Thursday moment was managing to consume and keep down both orange jello and plain rice. A seemingly insignificant accomplishment, I'm aware, but remarkable given my digestive difficulties the past two days. Stomach flu ain't fun, but I guess everyone already knew that....

Sorry to absent from thread so long, but the season is in full swing. Mad hot weather here and a pretty nasty drought.

Like I was last Thursday.

It flooded today, MKF. It's been monsooning here off and on for the last five days and today it poured for pretty much 12 straight hours. When it floods in Texas it brings out the snakes and I got a great shot of a 3' diamondback water snake. It was beautiful, MKF!

Hot. I am so very hot. You can quote me on that. Frickin drought. Frickin 100+ temps. Frickin dead in the field veggies.... but I digress.

On happier notes.... The flu has flown and I'm back to being my regular gluttonous self. Sorry to miss your Thursday Berfday, gorn. Belated best wishes. :)

My Thursday happiness is a great meal of leftover grilled "stuff" (chicken, corn, zucchini w/cheese), along with a stellar gin and tonic and finished up nicely with homemade peach crumble and vanilla ice cream. Beats the hell out of orange jello.

BeMyDeputy, I hope you too recover from the blechs. I shall do a de-bleching dance for you. :banana

I don't know why I love that damn banana so much, but I do.

Be well all....

I'm jumping the Thursday gun here a bit (I'm off by a couple of hours but it's Thursday somewhere already). Looking at this last page it looks as though I caught whatever Boschi had... I've been down with a stomach flu since yesterday. I feel totally wrung out.

Sorry to hear about the plague and the drought Boschi. Come to Oregon and farm; we have lots of rain and I totally will be your farm lackey (my lady's dream is to have a farm someday... I can barely manage my garden!). And gorn has a new gornling! Congrats! How's everybody else doing? Any old-timers still around these parts besides you guys?

Life is sweet here. I got engaged in April. It's looking like our big fat Jewish wedding will be next August 2013. Now, if only we could decide on a venue...

I moved into my college dorm room today and my parents just left about five minutes ago. My roomates are really nice but I'm incredibly nervous about being on my own for an entire year. I'm hoping Art college will feel more like summer camp... but with lots and lots of work... I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I hung up fairy lights and I'm probably going to watch some BTVS later which will make me feel more at home :] Happy Thursday!

I have accidentally slept through Wednesday afternoon and find myself unexpectedly in Thursday. 1:25 am Thursday to be precise. My mother will be displeased; I was supposed to go to her place for dinner last night.

I expect the remainder of the day (once I have gone back to sleep, woken up again and apologized to my mom) to involve greenhouse repairs, driving and random field clean up. Or possibly none of that if I can't borrow a car since mine seems to have a non-functional clutch. Which I just remembered.

Damn. Over-napping throws me for a loop.

I have apparently also missed a ktv engagement. Which is awesome news. Congratulations.

Huh. Well. I guess I'll just go back to bed now....

This is long, long overdue, but I too want to wish ktv big congrats. I kept wanting to wait for a Thursday to do it, and I kept missing Thursdays, one after the other. Been overseas the last three weeks, but that's really no excuse.

I remember hearing about the future mrs. ktv a long time ago now, it seems, couldn't be happier this story has a happy ending!

Hey there MKF,

I've been way out of the loop for a while, but this seemed like a good week to check in and say hello. We had a hurricane here in NY this week. It was scary as hell, and I am among the uber uber lucky folk that did not suffer damage or power loss. I didn't have to evacuate, my apartment didn't flood or burn, and none of my loved ones died trying to get out of this thing. Tomorrow I will wait in a loooong line for a shuttle bus (east river subway tunnels still submerged) or opt to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to check on my office, which is located in the sizable chunk of Manhattan that is still without power. I hope that they will let me in to check on my space, and I hope that that dear old building, which is full of character and history if a bit rickety, made it through the storm in one piece.
So I'm in a counting my blessings sort of frame of mind, and it made me think of all of you, and I hope that you are well, and that your lives are good, and that you are aware of your blessings too.

Much love everyone,
Leaf

I'm watching Bubbleguppies the other day, and I saw these little fish-kids sitting around a campfire ... underwater. They're all fish, they all live underwater, but they made a campfire. I started watching a little more carefully, and in another episode they went to a swimming pool - underwater! What the hell is going on? This show is ridiculous, I'm not sure I want my kids seeing this kind of thing and getting all confused.

When I was a kid, we had Snuffleupagus. Remember him? Big wooly-mammoth-like creature that walked around town in broad daylight but only kids could ever see him. I know that sounds weird, too, but that's OK - I'm convinced kids really CAN see shit that I can't see anymore. There's no doubt in my mind.

But campfires and swimming pools underwater? C'mon. My suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

Ah, Snuffy. I remember him. Him? Her? I'm guessing him, despite the lack of pendulous bovine testicles...but maybe the shaggy mammoth fur just hid them well.

Leaf, sorry to preempt my well wishes with discussion of imaginary mammoth testicles, but all the same, many well-wishes for you, your work building, and pretty much everyone who was impacted by Sandy to recover electricity, mail service, income, homes, sanity and dry feet soon. Good to hear from you.

Me? I'm hanging in there. Or here. Whatever.

Rah Thursday.

Hey all, I thought I'd pop in and say a big Hi and Howdy!!!

Life has been good, and it's Thursday and I'm on a 4 day weekend, so lets give that a big freakin' whoop and a yeehaw.

Booked my flight today for Montreal next year - the Thursday Gods must have been on my side cos i got a fantastic price on the flight.

21 days in Montreal with a trip to Nigra in the mix and the company of good people - spent 5 weeks there last year and loved it so much I didn't want to come home.

I can't wait, wish it was August!!!!

I hope all you guys are doing good, it's nice to see old names pop up in this thread from time to time.

Holy Thursday, PtS! How does ANYONE get to take a TWENTY-ONE DAY VACATION??? I need to re-examine the direction of my life ...

Alas, I cannot tell a lie. Not on a Thursday. I don't get TWENTY-ONE DAYS OFF, but I am going to Disneyworld next week with Mrs. gorn and our girls for seven days. Been planning this for months. Last day of work is tomorrow, but it's a doozy ... I'll probably be in the office Saturday & Sunday both just to make sure I have everything wrapped up before I go.

Actually, I've probably been planning this trip much longer. Back some years ago when Mrs. gorn and I didn't think we were going to be able to have kids, I made a promise to myself that I would never go to Disneyworld again unless it was with my children ... and deep down I thought I might have doomed myself to never going. Who knew? At that time, we were both pretty pessimistic but not ready to give up. BAM!! First daughter is born. Start making plans to go to Disneyworld some time after her first birthday, get to the point where I'm actually ordering the free Disneyworld Vacation Planning DVD. BAM!! Mrs. gorn gets pregnant with our second daughter. Now, our oldest daughter will be celebrating her third birthday at the restaurant inside Cinderella's Castle.

Sometimes things are hard, not going to lie ... but damn, life is good sometimes, too.

Next Thursday this time, MKF, I'm gonna be sitting on my balcony at the Animal Kingdom Lodge drinking african wine with Mrs. gorn.

Thursdays are a good thing, drlloyd11. It's that moment when you realize you're actually going to make it through the week, when the first rays of sunshine start peeking through the clouds. And even more than that, I've always felt there was something a little special about this particular thread. Could never quite put my finger on it, but it called to me from the very beginning. Yes, MKF, it called to me. Stop looking at me like that.

It's nearly the end of another week of job hunting. Many (many!) interviews, phone screens, and random headhunter phone calls.
I have explained my entire work history at least 35 times, explained what I am looking for 50 ish, but only one "What is your biggest flaw".
Which I answered in a truly unique way.
