Hot! Even though the sun's harsher in Missouri, I've gotten spoiled with most days in the 80s (which is still hotter than I like), and even some highs in the 70s when I visited my mum last week; visiting Austin means temps in the 90s and 100s, which means me holing up in my parents' house and being a little too glad they like air conditioning.

Snow is supposed to start falling in about 6 hours. 4-6 inches expected. My college (meaning both school *and* work) has already announced it's going to be closed. I am so frickin excited for real snow, and a whole day to play in it!

About 2 inches of snow so far, which is awesome, but unfortunately it's windy enough to make the snow that's still falling less fun to play in. It's made it into the 20s though, so warm enough to be pleasant (at least until my gloves get soaked from playing in the snow). Before the day's out, I might get more snow than I've ever been in before!

Unprecedented storms and flooding here. The wind was almost 80mph in my town last night.

Hence my being glad to hear that the sun is still out there, somewhere.

It was supposed to start snowing around midnight last night and keep going until tonight, but we only have a stupid sprinkle of ice so far. The estimated snowfall has now gone from 9-10" to 1-3" and I'm feeling quite bummed. 10" would have been the most snow I've ever been in! Plus it's stupid-cold, and stupid-cold should only happen if there's going to be snow to play in.

Is it just me, or is the phrase "Polar Vortex" really only a few years old? Have these things been around long? I mean, I know it got colder than this in the past, but did they call it a "Polar Vortex" back then? It's only in the last maybe two or three years or so that I can remember hearing it.

Regardless, it seems to take on new meaning now that I live in Michigan. Goddamn.
