I'd also love a Sydney gathering or party of some kind. Well, I'm in Newcastle, but will go to Sydney. Or people could come here...whatever really! My housemate has a big screen tv so it could be fun for watching eps or whatever...any imput?

i've organized a lot of different things and worked conventions and such... i wouldn't mind helping out to organize a southwest thing... that is if i'm still in the southwest whenever this, if it is, planned.

Chicago

Postby Bobos Mom » Sun Jun 23, 2002 8:53 am

I’m happy to say that I’m still recovering from the Chicago gathering by pouring coffee down my throat. Much beer was shared by those in attendance. We bonded over our love for Willow/Tara Aly/Amber, got a few shots in at ME, and toasted Ruth as promised.

The kitten attracts some amazing, kindhearted, intelligent, soulful, spirited members. I would happily sit with everyone I met last night over a cup of coffee, and talk about life.

Hey!

We are downing the coffee here too, but that is a normal day for us!

Natalie and I had such a great time with all the Chicago Kitties. I have always thought this board attracts some of the best people online and meeting a few of them face to face only confirms that.

Moody's is a great bar. It was about 10,000 degrees inside, but the beer garden was nice. I recomend it to anyone in the Windy City and thank Bobo's Mom for the recomendation!

We all had a great time and I enjoyed talking with everyone. We will certainly do this all again! Coffee is also a great idea. Not that there aren't about a 1,000 cool little little coffee shops on the north side alone!

So who was everyone?

Well here we are!

Chicago Kittens

LtoR, in back, KJChicago, WiccanIllusion, Rosenberg, Bobo's Mom.

in front, Garner, me, Natalie (Mrs. Web Warlock).

Here we are again toasting honoray Chicagoian, Ruth. You can't tell but we are saying "smut!",

Chicago Kittens

It was a blast and I am happy to say that this was the best experience I have had meeting people from online. Most of time I just run into some socail miscreant. But this time we were all social miscreants in the same general directions! ;)

Even the non-Kittens there had a good time (my wife, KJ's partner).

Gifts were exchanged, cell phone numbers were shared, big greasy steak burgers were had and a whole lot of beer was drank.

We had a blast!

Yes, it was a lot of fun. My partner, AHJ, took the pics so she is not in the photos. We were a bit "wilted" as it was in the 90's and very humid.

We're still recovering from our full day yesterday. Gay night at Wrigley Field tonight.

How's about a gathering in LA when I get back (after middle of August)?

Of course, if anyone wants to join me in Israel, they're welcome. ;)

Chicago

Postby Rosenberg » Mon Jun 24, 2002 10:41 am

I would like to thank all the Chicago kittens for letting me crash their gathering and allowing me to be an honorary Chicagoan for a weekend. It was a lot of fun and it was a welcome diversion from the sadness I was feeling after being present at the Cubs game that was cancelled that afternoon. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I would like everybody to know what an outstanding group of people you all are. I too would happily sit with everyone I met last night over a cup of coffee, and talk about life.

By the way Ruth, I would like you to know that you were very much present at the gathering and we did raise a toast to you. If I recall correctly, it had something to do with smut.

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that the entire SC gang is going to be taking a trip to Las Vegas next month. The beginning of July is going to be the start of the Succubus Club's 'Vegas Vacation' and I hope to see allot of people there! Check the www.thesuccubusclub.com website for all the detail if you're interested!

Chicago

Postby Garner » Mon Jun 24, 2002 3:07 pm

I am safely back in Nebraska after a very easy plane trip and can finally put in my two cents for the Chicago Kitten Gathering.

Sometimes you here about someone meeting people from online and it brings scary images to mind. In this case nothing could have been further from the truth! Everyone was just wonderful to talk with, I think we even moved around a bit so we got a chance to speak with all present. I cannot stress enough how cool it was to bond with fellow kittens and find out that we had a lot in common besides W/T (which was only about 50-60% of what we talked about). I knew the board had some great writers and suspected it had some great people as well and that is now well confirmed! I'm glad everyone felt at home and at ease, the site was great, the beer plentiful, conversation engaging, but I was disappointed that no beer mugs were hurled in outrage and that none of the normals there were at all freaked. :) Maybe not enough beer was drunk?

Thanks to everyone for being there, and to WW for posting the pictures! I would definitely like to get together again sometime in the future, whenever I am in town again.

You toasted the smut. How wonderful.

Okay, I looked at the photos and I'd really like a detailed line-up of the second picture as I'm suffering from confusion over who is who.

Thanks!

Ruth, I'm leaning down in the first photo, and standing in the second. Standing tall in tribute to the smut. So the back row is KJ, W.I., Rosenberg, and me.

Are you returning to Chicago at any point in the future? We really did toast you, and wish for your presence. It would be a wonderful reason to get everyone together again, and give me a reason to drink. like I need a reason...

Yes Ruth, we did toast the smut. We also saved a seat for you and poured you a glass of beer. If you DO return to Chicago at any point in the future, let us know. I would try to make arrangements to make it out there for such a special occasion. I don’t need a reason to drink (I’m the Designated Driver), I just need a reason to come to Chicago.

Ruth.

I drank your beer. ;)

So you at least have to come back to kick my ass and make me buy you another one!

Rosenberg and I had to sit at the "bitter" end of the table. So we could have used you there too!

a UK meeting sounds like a great idea,

I'm in the north east but London would be ok to meet as long as there is lots of advance warning to save for train fares...and for trains to actually make the journey....hmmm it might be quicker to walk...or for a central England meeting...like Birmingham.....

Oh, I don't think I'll be returning to Chicago all that soon. Sorry folks.

I am, however, available for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs in the general Greater Manchester region. Discounts available for group bookings. :rolleyes

And uh, Gill...I've had these "kitten gathering" things before. They never work out. ;)

Re: Any meetings in England?!

Postby tommo » Wed Jun 26, 2002 4:01 pm

I think there are a few English kittens who are willing to organise some kind of a get together. Uh, I think. Perhaps those who are willing should make themselves known and ask just how many people are potentially available for this.

But not me. I can't host; I can't be nice to people (as those who have met me will attest) and the very thought panics me.

San Francisco

Postby bulldog tidnab » Wed Jun 26, 2002 4:13 pm

ok, so i am moving to SF the 1st or 2nd week of August and frankly, i know no one there. literally no one. i'm kinda doing the whole leave everything behind start over thing and to be honest, i'm terrified, but note the resolve face.

to shorten the story, i was wondering if any of the Bay area kittens would like to perhaps have a bit of a gathering? it would be nice to actually meet some of you and, well, to be honest i could use some friendly faces there methinks. let me know what you think... as i am in MN now i wouldn't know of anywhere we could meet, but i would trust your judgement.

Well, first week of August I am going to be in San Diego. However, I have had folks overs to my place a few times, and can probably try and set something up for mid to late August. Drop me an email and I will be happy to include you in the planning.

Well officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.
