Being confronted with life, and it's cruel ways. The ways that lead to death. I used to think I am healthy, I am just turning 30 this year, I am hardly ever ill, and death seems so far away. But young people die, children die, and mostly by the horrible disease called cancer. People that are 41 or 32 do get cancer and they die, we are not invulnerable and immortal. And today is just an in your face moment for me when it comes to the gruesome truth about life and death.

35 degrees in helLA!

My roommate slipped on an ice patch last night. An ice patch! In Los Angeles!

And where's the snow? If it's gonna be this fucking cold then we deserve snow, dammit!

Edit: I didn't realize there was a thread for weather. My apologies if this feels misplaced.

LOL. I heard that! I'm in the OC and I'm waiting for it to snow. :( Let it snow! Let it snow! :P

Dude WTF???? I had to go to my bank and deal with the mess I've been faced with. Someone in New York decided to be cute and charge $850 to my account. So not cool! The people who commit fraud are crafty, if only they used they're smarts for good.

I found out a few days ago that a friend of mine had died suddenly the week before. He was a gamer and part of my group, but he was estranged from his family, and spent a lot of time with us and a mutual friend of ours. He would come over on Thanksgiving and new years, and joined at the movies at cinema-pub often. The last time I spoke with him we were trying to see the Hobbit. he got to the theater a few minutes before us, and called to say it was sold out. Of course we knew we would try again later and turned around.
I'm still stunned.
His sister whom he had not seen in ten years has been planning the funeral without much care to who he was .
He had two cats he loved and she was simply going to give them to animal shelter (they are old cats, unlikely to adopt)
until we intervened. We decided to take in one cat and our friend the other, but then found a third friend who could take both.
It doesn't feel right, some one who doesn't know him like we did making the plans.
The world seems quieter without him..
Rest in Peace Paul.

I'm staying with my best friend, in an awesome place I've never been, and it should be great, but all I can think about is how wrong everything is. And I'm starting to realize a lot more things were my fault than I thought. And I have less than no clue what I'm doing with my life. I've never not had a plan before, but right now I genuinely have no clue what I'm doing, today or tomorrow or a month from now or a year from now... I should be embracing that, trying to live as it comes, but instead I'm scares shitless and feeeling like a failure.

My best friend and I went shopping tonight, and after buying groceries she wanted to get flowers as a reward for herself. At first I was helping her look, but then suddenly I remembered a few weeks ago trying to buy flowers for my girl on her birthday. That was just a few weeks ago and things felt so perfect that day, and now it's all gone, and I started to cry in the fucking grocery store.

Hustling to try and get financing lined up on a farm that was for sale, discovering there are bizarre loan restrictions because of the farm itself, and then losing it to another bidder.

My wife's work schedule. They have her on overnights for the next six months. Not only do we not get to sleep together, but we hardly even see each other during the week. We have the same days off, but it doesn't matter because she works until 5:30am on one of them and sleeps most of the day away. Grrr...

My new phone suddenly died on me last week. Apparently the Windows Update made it crash so bad, that some plate or something burned out... Oops?! I mean, it still worked, but after a couple minutes it would completely crash again. So I called the hotline only to be told, that since it's Saturday morning, there wouldn't be any technicians in until Monday. Great.
Went to the T-Mobile store, only to be told by some suit, that my phone looks okay and I'm exaggerating the problem... Went to another store and this technician took a look at my phone, scrolled through the menu and it immediately crashed... Yep, totally exaggerating. ^^
So he send it to headquarters to be checked out and now I have this 7 year old phone (plant hire) until mine is either fixed or replaced. Makes me feel naked somehow... :(

Receiving this disappoiting news from an intern when contacting my local congressional office, "Unfortunately, our office has received disappointing news from the White House Visitors Office. Due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, the White House has cancelled all tours effective March 9, 2013." Booooo!! I sumbited my request before these changes, but I understand why this happened.

I've had headaches 11 of the last 13 days, and most of the time painkillers (even special ones for migraines) don't help. I had thought of going to a doctor, but I just moved and don't have one here so I put it off, and then I managed to go two days without a headache so I decided I didn't need to go to a clinic after all, but yesterday and today the pain was back. They're not unbearable, and most of the time they don't impede my function much, but they're still very unpleasant and I'm a bit worried. My head's fine at the moment, but I'm already dreading tomorrow's headache despite trying to tell myself it might not come.

My roommate was really really up and happy and energetic tonight, and I started the evening fairly up and happy as well, but then I got upset over a stupid song, and at first she didn't notice but then when she did it was like I instantly killed her buzz, and now I feel guilty.
