Hello, everybody. Say, I'm just visiting here, and I was wondering where would be a good place to post a shout out? I have a good friend who posts here (I'd like to think I also have a new friend who posts here) and I'd like to say hi while they're on the road.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found the right thread. :)

go back to the first post... under your "name" there are some choices, click on edit ... then when the screen comes up so you can change your post, you can change the title to "anything you want" .... well, not specifically "anything you want" .. if you title it that, then kittens will flock there thinking that .... well, you get what I mean...

good luck.

my pop got me an acoustic for Christmas. It's not any well-known fancy spifftacular job, but it sounds pretty enough to me. I think tk's right, whether or not she's a beginner is important. I wouldn't have known the difference if my dad had spent 50 bucks or 500 on my guitar :p

help for a friend

Postby foreverpiper » Tue Aug 24, 2004 1:50 am

a few days ago when i got back from DC i found out that two of my really good friends had split up (we'll call them, abby and lily) Well that night i went to the movies with lily and found out more about why they had broken up, but she didn't seem too sad about it, which really threw me, because they had been together for 2 years...i thought they had the perfect relationship...anyway i wanted to talk to abby but she was out of town. i called her cell twice but she never called back.

anyway, at 2:30am this morning she (abby) called me to tell me she was home, but i knew there was more to it...so i spent the next hour listening to her cry over lily, and it turns out that the perfect relationship i thought they had was a total illusion. it turns out that lily had broken up with abby on the phone while abby was on vacation with her family (shit, right) well i heard how broken up abby was with the phone call, but i couldn't get over how much lilly just didn't seem to care. when we were at the movies she just casually looked back at me and was like 'we broke up' i was like :wtf

so, i tried to console abby as much as i could but i don't think it helped much. this whole thing is breaking her heart and i don't know how i can help. she's going to talk to lily tomorow and call me. then we're going to do something but i don't know how to help her out? what do you do to help someone who's hearts been shattered? i have never heard abby so broken, and have never ever seen her cry, but she was just sobbing. any advice would be much apriciated.

Guitars

Postby dekalog » Tue Aug 24, 2004 5:34 am

Hey

If you want email me and give me the specifics (eg. how much you want to spend, what the primary use off the guitar will be, sound texture you want, etc.) and I can make some suggestions.

New guitars are easier to suggest, but with used guitars you should take someone with you who knows about guitars. You should be careful as people like to mess with things like the truss rod and fuck up good guitars. Probably one of the most important things to look for though is the action on the guitar, it should suit both the player and the music that will be played on the instrument.

The best thing to do though with buying a first one is to get the person who wants the guitar to play alot of guitars TONS, and get a feel for what they like and don't like.

edited to add I found this link

www.merde.org/guitar/choose.html

which has some really sound advice and is very informative (i.e. wish I had read it when I bought my first one ;) )

Personally, I think heartbreak just takes time to get over. The only thing you can do is listen and distract! If you get her mind thinking of other things, amuse, entertain, whatever it takes, I think that's the key.

Okay, this is bad. For some reason I don't know what episode this quote is in (or if it's even in one) although it is one of the most famouse Willow/Tara quotes of all time:

Willow: Where would you go? If you were lost and alone? Where would you go?

Tara: To you.

Would somebody please tell me what episode this is from? I am dying here! Thanks!

I am not sure whether I would call that one of the most famous WT quotes. That quote is from the shooting script, it was not in the episode itself. Anyway, I had to look up which ep it was from: Blood Ties episode 13 season 5.

D.E.B.S.

Postby maudmac » Fri Sep 03, 2004 4:01 pm

It used to be up somewhere out there, because I saw it first online before seeing it at a film festival. But I don't see it anywhere anymore. (I checked to see if I had a copy on my computer, but I don't. I wish I did. Clare Kramer is insanely hot.)

Perhaps it's gone poof because the feature-length version is making the rounds of the festivals now?

The short movie D.E.B.S. got made into a full lenght movie, which premiered at the Outfest this year, about a month and a half ago, on opening night. I was lucky enough to be there, and it was awesome! It is due for release in theatres this year. I will look in my program and find the distributor for you.
