Kirby, I second what Brooke said; Minnesota nice is always welcome (and I do know a Minnesota kitten, so you’re not alone).

OK, I’ll try to get three tickets for the Cubs game. They’re playing the Cardinals that weekend, so it might be tough to get a group to sit together, but I’ll see what’s available. We need to celebrate your birthday appropriately. I believe Garner has contacted Danielle, but I don’t know if she’s gotten back with him yet. I’ll send her a message too.

Wow May.

I'll have a two month old baby then.

Maybe we can all plan to come out to my place to play a round of "The Dragon and the Phoenix"! ;)

Course it could also turn into the Chicago Kitten Gathering/Celebration of Buffy's cancelation party!

Just thinking about a U.K. gathering. Could be that London would be easier for any overseas Kittens to get to ??. Maybe we could do something when/if 'Chance' is screened there - that would be absolutely spiffing chaps....tea and scones all round!!!! :bounce

I think Birmingham would be better as it's pretty much central.

And you've got the International Airport if people wanted to fly in.

MAISEY12 - I was only joking with ya. I have actually only ever been to Brum once but it seemed nice. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to say about the place once I've moved there.

I'd go to any of the UK cities mentioned so far but I think Manchester might be most suitable. Small enough so that people can't get too lost (famous last words) and fairly central. Also it has an international airport, great night life and is one of the friendliest cities I've ever visited. Oooooh, and I might meet a Man U fan who's actually from Manchester. ;)

So, nobody has any serious objections to my home city then?

Kirby, let me also say it would be great to have you, or any other, non-Chicago kitten present. The more the merrier? (or the bitterer?) And Sparky it would be great to see you too. I think there are a few more kittens around in Chicago now than last year. Which, if you check around page 4-5 on this thread there should be a couple of pictures of us from last time. We're behind all the pitchers of beer, really! :)

Tim, you big tease! Now you've gone and gotten my hopes hope. A Buffy cancelation blow out would be awesome and very appropriate! We can only hope!

I did hear back from Danielle and hopefully she will be able to make the get together, but the game is not possible. Mother's Day is that Sunday and that makes her super busy at work the week prior. Oh well.

Moodys was fine by me, though any spot would be great. I think Brooke had a couple good suggestions as well. Now if I can just find my can of spray on hair we can celebrate Brooke's birthday in STYLE. Or just mess with any kittens that can't hold their beer. :)

Walker......I know that you were only joking with me.:)

I too think that Manchester should be the venue for the UK kitten gathering, for all of the reasons you mentioned. Plus, I think that it's important for the reputation of Mancunians that you get the opportunity to meet at least one Manchester United fan that actually lives in Manchester. I am sure that I can arrange this. :wink

Hey if all the new Chicago Kitties could email me, I'd love to get a Data Base going. Some sort of phone tree or something, or all the kittens who plan on going. And don't be afraid to bring signifigant others as well, on kittens are always welcome.

My email is

Illusia80@aol.com

or

TheScornedWitch@aol.com

Pick and choose which one, but an email of your general location and how many, or a vote of where to go would be great since there seem to be a lot more, like what Garner said.

Thanks for all the welcome! I totally love it and you can keep sending it my way.

Since I don't live in Chicago I'm planning on getting myself a hotel room so if anyone needs a place to crash let me know I'm more than willing to share.

I have no objections to Manchester other than the fact that it's not in Scotland where all the decent cities should be. Could we swap you Manchester for Dundee?:grin

The Cubs tickets have now been ordered, but I was only able to get 3 together. Right now they have only single scattered seats available, so anyone else wishing to go to the game might have to wind up buying from a scalper.

As of now, I’m planning on staying in the Schaumburg/Elk Grove Village area and I may be bringing another Michigan kitten with me. I’d like to be there for the dinner part of the evening, but I’m not too sure about the bar-hopping event.

Tim, it would be really nice to see you at the gathering and it would also be nice to see Baby Warlock. :baby

Rosenberg,

hey I live in the Schaumburg/Elk Grove area!

I used to have a guest room, now it is a baby room. (They told me if you keep having sex with your wife....)

I don't know what things will be like then, but we will figure something out.

Hey Tim, I didn’t know that you were in the Schaumburg area! I’ll be in the vicinity of Woodfield Mall/Life Time Fitness near Higgins Rd. I have to be close to Smoky Bones BBQ. :) Too bad it’s so far away from the city, or I would suggest that as a meeting place. And I’m sure the baby will feel right at home in the guest room.

What day and what time is the Cubs game for? And who are they playing? Hope it is the Cards.

Yeah Schaumbrg to the city is a hike, guess we have to wait another three or four years for that Blue Line extension. ;)

Okay; now I'm in a better position to think about this, I'll make some suggestions. Useful ones. Ahem.

Seeing as most people don't appear to mind Manchester a great deal, I'm going to feel out some hotels and ask about prices etc. I don't mind organising stuff to do, seeing as I know Manchester well, so that's not a problem.

Now; time of year? I was thinking perhaps early Sept, but whenever is most convenient for other people really. At the moment, there's not much point in just saying that you want to go, as someone will be gathering that info later on when/if we get stuff organised. What we need now is a date to aim for.

Hope that's okay with everyone. :)

Tim, yeah the Cubs play the Cards that weekend. It might even be early enough in the season for them to do a credible job and actually win. Before the big slide of course! :)

I am in the Oak Park/ River Forest area which is about a half hour to 45 minutes from you and where Elaine will be staying. Brooke is still downtown, as is Danielle. Specifics on where we should meet will probably have to be hammered out closer to the date.

I hope all other kittens in the area realize they are welcome to join us and that we already have a couple from way outside Chicago coming in!

"What day and what time is the Cubs game for? And who are they playing? Hope it is the Cards."

The Cubs game is Saturday, at either 1:05 or 1:35, I don’t remember right now. And they are playing my Cardinals! :applause The game should most likely be over around 4:00 or so, which means we’ll probably find something to do between the end of the game and the start of dinner. We have a lot of time to work out the details.

Are they really going to extend the Blue line to Schaumburg? That would be sweet.
