How We Came To Be Kittens

It was about this time last year that I caught Buffy on F/X, they were showing the episode where Faith first came out of her coma. I had only watched a handful of Buffy episodes previous to that so I didn't know much about the show but after that I was hooked into the show and after New Moon Rising I was definatly hooked because of Willow and Tara. So I searched the internet for more info on the show and the girls and one of the searches brought me here and I've stopped by daily ever since.

I started lurking after I saw Older and Farther Away - I saw that epi and I thought "my god they are going to kill off Tara. They are doing the exact same thing they did with Joyce."



So I started searching the Internet for spoilers that would dis-prove what I thought was going to happen ......next thing I knew I'd landed here. I'd never so much as posted or lurked at any board before the kitten.

I have Rane to thank (or you have her to blame) for being a kitten. I came to W/T late though I have watched Buffy from the start. I wasn't a shipper until after the Gift during the summer and didn't look online for stuff or chat or what have you. I eventually did decide to look on line for who played Tara for some obscure reason I forget and found the Essence of Amber site. From there I saw links to ExtraFlamey and Wiccan Ways. After reading a lot of the fic in the archives, and writing a couple of my own. I sent feedback to some of the stories and Rane responded to my feedback and mentioned the kitten, and being ignorarnt I asked what that was and low and behold ended up here in January 2002. Not that long ago. It has been a great place and the only board I am part of or post on. Kittens Rule!

Cos there was a girl, making Willow and Tara videos which I downloaded of course. I mailed her cos I loved them and so we got to know each other and at that time my crave for Willow and Tara goodness was growing more and more

So I asked her if she knew some good fanfic sites lol and she sent me the link from the Kitten

And after having lurked around for 5 months or something I finally decided to log in lol Im so Im here now, lol have been for quite a while now

Well me, I really liked buffy from the start, but did stop watching it for a while around the time Angel left and Riley showed up. Luckily I met my girlfriend, a very HUGE buffy fan, and she got me back into it.



During the summer she got me all caught up on the seasons I missed, we went to a shore leave convention. I decided I really liked the feel of conventions, and my girlfriend had found out about Moonlight Rising this coming summer. She really really wanted to go, and it sounded so cool to me, so to suprise her, i got two VIP tickets for our anniversary.



I then decided...well hey...I really want to get to know other people as obssessed as we are ((i think it had something to do with the showing of the musical ep at shore leave, and how eventually everyone was singing along to every word and i thought "Im not alone!")) I had heard about the kitten board from some people at shore leave who came to this lil party in the hotel room of the woman starting up BuffyCon.



I got a name, lurked for a few days, and started posting. ^_^

We don't need their shallow popularity; we'll build our palaces in the dark and beautiful places they forgot to look.

I heard about the board from the willtara mailing list. Having been a member of other mailing lists and web boards for years I joined right away and have been posting ever since.

I had been bouncing around the net for a few years, before I realized people posted stories on the net. I'm a big reader so I got hooked, but still had no clue about fanfic.



My best friend, lets call her "M", and I were huge buffy fans, and it became our alltime favorite show when Tara arived.

We always watch together but oneday we both missed it.



M said, "Hey, why don't you see if you can find out what we missed on your computer"



Me being dense as usual said "I'll try later, but I don't think there are manny buffy fans on the net"



After she left I went to google and and began a chain of events that would change my life forever. (Can you feel the drama?)



After spend 3 hours looking at differnt Buffy sites, I found a site devoted to W&T. It had three areas, Pictures, Quotes,and Fan Fiction.



"Fan fiction, whats that?" *click*



............



After reading every thing there I wondered if anyone else had writen this 'Fan Fiction' stuff about my favorite couple.



I went back to google and entered.....

I clicked on "The Kitten The Witches and The Bad Wardrobe" because I liked the name.



I was still in the Pens reading at 10 am the next day.



I lurked for a few months before I got the nerv to post.



Now I almost live here. I better shut up now before I start to ramble and make no sense. Oops too late.

This is my third board as a kitten and i have miss moderator fantastica xita to thank for. she emailed me about one of my fics way back when and told me she was part of this small group of w/t lovers and i should check out their board.



yeah, small and like three years later this is now a worldwide community full of love, friendship and good w/t fics! just lovely, like heaven!

I had been into Buffy for a few years. I was addicted to Buffy websites and I was a frequent poster at the Bronze beta. Right after Seeing Red a lot of posters kept on talking about how pissed off these "Kittens" were.



For days I kept on hearing about it and finally someone left a link to this site. I took one look around and said "They watch Buffy, they love Willow and Tara and gay! I'm Home!"



I was a lurker for a while until I finally got up the nerve to start posting. I've hardly been to the Bronze Beta since. I love the people here.

I kind of found myself angry and disappointed at ME's portrayal of one of the most loving and responsible relationships on tv. I found myself scouring the web for reaction following Seeing Red and found myself coming back to this board. The more I saw of it the more I loved the atmosphere it generated. I'm still fairly new here although I lurked for months but it is without doubt the reason I have accepted what has happened to me and that its ok. (I lost my soul Kate, but find contentment now with Andy who taught me to love again).



As I said I'm fairly new and by no means a typical kitten (but I doubt there's such a thing). But hopefully thats ok.



It offers love, humour and and extremely well written WT fics. I find myself losing time here for hours.

Well, I came here b/c of Toronto Trek. Living in Toronto, I was able to witness the goodness of Amber at this convention. She's a cool person that she talked to me though she needed to repeat a couple of times since I am deaf and lip-read very slowly. I saw a couple of Kitten fans and felt curious about them (too shy to introduce myself to them!). Thus I surfed websites and found it. So far, I only email to others, wish someday I'll find time and money to meet Kitten fans in conventions. And I love to read fan fictions too!!!

I only started watching Buffy at the beginning of season 6, but I was immediately in love with the W/T relationship. I found Extra Flamey and started reading lots of fanfic, but never really ventured beyond that. Then after Seing Red I was so repulsed and in denial that I frantically searched the net for spoilers or anything saying that it might not be true. That's how I came across the Lesbian Cliche. After reading it and agreeing completely I started lurking around the board all the time. It took me quite a few months to get over my shyness and start posting, and even now I rarely post, but I am here almost every day just loving this board and community.

This is really a question I ask myself when I'm elbow deep in writing fanfic. I don't fit the "accepted" profile of a kitten according to demagraphics worshippers. I think it was the romance that drew me to W/T on Buffy and the fact that Amber and Aly had good chemistry. I also knew a couple of gay couples from work who were once BtVS fans. I found the fanfic on ExtraFlamey and liked it. Then S6 hit and I spoilered myself. Got way angry and started writing. I heard about the "whining kittens" on a couple of boards and came here. This is the last Buffy board I read.



Oddly enough that first fic turned into the Hope series and it didn't fit here according to Xita. I submitted it to Wiccan Ways and wrote some other stuff for Pens. And read Pens. And bookmarked Pens. There's a trend here.



And that's how this over 40 male kitten got here. I like it and the company. So now you're stuck with me.

I can't believe I never answered this one.



I had been a huge fan of Willow since the very beginning, and I have that whole "unhealthy obsession" with witches. So when Willow and Tara became a couple I was completely a W/T shipper. I had never (and never will) shipped anything before. Well...I suppose I did like Buffy/Angel together and I always had some hope that Riker/Troi on TNG would get back together.



But anyway I started reading Willow/Tara fanfiction. I found "Coming Up Roses" and I started emailing (pestering?) the authors. Well one of them, Kirk, told me about this place. That was back when it was on Novagate and I haven't left since.



I have been part of many online comunitees. But none have been as close to me as the Kitten. I am sure no other ever will.



I have seen this place go through some really rought times and still come out on top (oh crap, here goes *that* discussion again!) or ahead.



I will still be talking to the friends I have made here long after the rest of the world will be saying "Buffy who?"

i found this board through spoiler slayer when it was on the other server then after months of usuing the excuse of they have good spoilers on the board as an excuse to come onto this board i finally started to accept why i come to this board. I like girls (i mean i like boys as well my bf will kill me if i dont write that!) i like being part of this community and im a hugh Willow/Tara shipper, plus amber and aly r hot!

I loved Willow from the beginning of season one, and every once in the while over the summers, I'd read some fanfic to make up for not having any new episodes. Then season 6 happened and I needed something to make up for the new episodes I was watching. I did a Google search and after finding a number of Pens authors elsewhere, I found the Kitten itself.



It took me a while to become brave enough to register and comment with all those kittens posting who already seemed to know each other, but I had some story ideas so I knew I'd have to post sometime and Pens seemed to be a really friendly place to write. So I did. And it has been.

Well, if WebWarlock hadn't answered this yet, I certainly don't have to feel like a kitten-come-lately when i do.



So, I was a BTVS fan, mostly a Willow fan and then a W/T fan, was already on the net, got here through the spoiler slayer connection and liked the kitten's ways. lurked for a long time because I didn't think anything I posted would be as interesting as what the regulars were writing. Still don't, but couldn't see the rants anymore without starting to post. And we all know that no one rants better than an outraged kitten

So here I am.

The BBC did something right for once.



I check the BBC cult site every monday, when it's updated, and there was an article about the trevor project and the work the Kittens had done.

Being a questioning teen myself, I was absolutley amazed (and incredibly grateful!) that there was a board that was home to W/T fans- almost as obsessed as me- that was so generous! I lurked for a coupla days, pretty much non stop, read through some older articles (although the site was a little confoosing to begin with!) and decided I would be at home here.



This was about three weeks ago



The Kitten Is set as my homepage, and I am spreading the word to my W/T fanatic friends.



I was going to say this in a speperat thread, but Ill say it here; *Thank You to All Kittens*



Knowing there is a page I can come to, where I will not be attacked or insulted is so comforting. I know I am only a newbie, but you can see that everyone is friendly, like a little community

i was on the net surfing along ,went to HDC ,was reading a thread and there was a link here.it was like 2 years ago or something...i was a lurker for a long while then decided to just become a member(i was here all the time anyway).i would probably be more than just a floating rose but i get caught up reading and forget.I'm kinda absent minded that way.

my reason for becoming a kitten:that's simple W/T are the best couple on tv ever.EVER.also some of you are just as crazy as me about fanfic.

Will I get lynched for this? I started watching Buffy in Season 1 and I was originally a hardcore Willow-Oz shipper (I still think Seth Green has great comic timing). I actually cried when he left and I couldn't imagine anyone else for Willow. How wrong I was!!! I was hooked on Willow and Tara pretty quickly and saw the light that is Willow-y/Tara-y love.



I didn't find this board until recently. I am a spoiler slut so frequent The Spoiler Slayer. I saw this board mentioned in the past and just got around to checking it out this week. But I love it! I think I'll stay!

I never watched Buffy mainly because:



a) I hated the silly name,

b) it seemed to me a teenager stupid thing,

c) the acting was mostly lousy.



But:



a) I fell in love with Willow instantly,

b) I was intrigued why everybody was talking about this show.



So:



a) I started to look for clues on the internet,

b) and asking my teenager friends (and students) about it.



During the internet surfing I found the Kitten just when the rumour about Tara's future on the show hit. I liked the community a lot, the way the mods were so protective of it and the general friendliness and felt the hurt. I decided that I was on the Kitten side on this fight and that they were right about the cliche and so.



Since then, I made friends here, I've become a big fan of some writers and I feel that -in general- I'm a better person in your company

I'd watched Buffy off and on since about the second season. I loved Willow and Buffy was okay, so it was something to watch every week.



I missed the start of the fourth season but ended up catching a few eps and saw this new character with Willow all the time. This, of course, intrigued me and I went in search of information on the net. I'm a cynical sort so I was probably looking for confirmation of her last ep date so I wouldn't get my hopes up or anything.



Stumbled upon a ton of places with the most negative stuff about Tara and was very put off by that. Happily, I soon found the Kitten and started lurking about. I remember being a little wary because I wasn't sure if it was too intense for me or not. Shortly after, my W/T love got the better of me and I got addcited to Pens. Heh.



Eventually I found my way over to the rest of the board and then into the yahoo chat. That was that.
