Hmm..even though I have yet to experience anything really, Id have to say that a perk would be knowing that you dont have to put up with guys melodramamtic crap anymore. And I think snuggling would be quite fun... ;)

Postby stillflygrlop » Sun Sep 01, 2002 9:51 pm

The primary purpose of this post was, as the title suggests, to list some of the perks of being gay. Everyone should definitely respect people of every orientation--that fact is undisputed. However, I don't think some things that both sexes can do should be automatically excluded. Everyone has his/her own opinion about "perks," and believe it or not, cuddling can have very different implications to an individual when applied to either a heterosexual or homosexual relationship.

We can, of course, be painstakingly descriptive (i.e., female cuddling) for political correctness' sake, but I think that is unwarranted and rather superfluous. Besides, making babies in a heterosexual manner is quite different from that of a homosexual couple.

I really don't want to offend people, but the world isn't utopia. Respect should be undoubtedly heeded, but not at the expense of repression. I think that if anyone feels truly insulted, they have the right to say so. And, the poster (depending on the situation), has the obligation to apologize. Just because something isn't said doesn't mean that respect is present; it's the quality of interaction that produces humility.

In any case, keep others in mind and try to take things in stride. It's all a part of life. :)

Ah but this board, as moderated by its founder, the lovely Xita and others is as close as we can get :) This board is a wonderful mix of str8, bisexual, lesbian, gay, young and old kittens..We make every effort to treat each other and "most" visitors with respect..Even the trolls who pass thru hear get some sort of respect albeit not much ;)

I acknowledge sex as a healthy part of every relationship, but it doesn't have to revolve around that. I'm referring to sex as the meaningless act, kinda like some of the episodes between B/S. But then again, who am I to say? I haven't exactly had the good fortune of experiencing sex

Someone give this girl some sex. Then she'll understand what Julia's talking about. And um, what I seem to be apparently obsessed with. ;)

And as for the meaningless act...well I'm afraid there ain't no such thing for me, love. Nope. Another thing I found out about myself what with being gay and all. Sex and love...ah, the two banes of my life. And inextricably linked as well.

Watches as the Dyke Drama police silently file out of their unmarked, black vehicle and surround Ruth, handcuffing her hands behind her back. She seems to enjoy this.

Gets jealous.

Edited to add: Yanno, I don't appreciate it when people come to the board and make snide, condescending comments to my fellow Kittens who are straight, based on their heterosexuality. That really irked me. Just thought I'd mention it.

Don't make me whip out Juliaglare. It's a frightful thing to behold, lemmetellya.

You get accepted here at the as who you are.

Course that is a perk of being hetero-, bi-, trans-, poly-, non- or any sexuall. As long as you love Willow and Tara!

Xita, apparently lesbians have melodrama. I was as shocked as you to discover this, because let me tell you, all my lesbian relationships have been melodrama free. Oh yep. Undoubtedly. :rolleyes

Hmm, I think perhaps trouble in this thread would be a little less stir up-able if instead of saying 'these are the perks to being gay', we'd phrase it something like 'stuff I love about being gay' or something to that effect. I feel it would be a little less 'La, la I'm better than you' flavored. Just my two cents.

One of the things I love about being gay... hmm.... being gay. It suits me.*g* Oh, that, and well, you know, Ruth.*g*

Ya'll don't know melodrama until you have been in my position last Sunday. I went to lunch after church with 10 gay men (Olive Garden) and had to admit that the only musical I had seen in the last several years was OMWF. I thought they would all die.

...and yes...I sat at the head of the table. ;)

OK, my small contribution to keep this note on-topic:

Never having to talk about sports - unless you want to.

Never arguing about the remote control or TV program. ;)

Never watching bad smut to create the mood - unless you want to!

Speaking as a semi-old hetero geek male, it takes quite a bit to insult or demean me anymore, and hasn't been accomplished in over twenty years. But thank you for your concern, Xita, it's always appreciated.

Let's face it: some heteros deserve bashing, especially if they evoke a "holier-than-thou" 'tude while making others feel less than who they are.

Humor is the only way we make it off this rock sane. And in that vein, if there is a need to blame "white middle-class, middle-aged males" of society, I offer my services as whipping boy. Unless you're phallus-friendly, Scoobiedoo, in which case c/o your lovely local woman-owned sex shop, she can be much more versatile than any man.

And she's soft. . .

And there's the whole great time with tampering with the gender binary thing.

And the lovely queer communities like this one here.

And lesbian kiss-ins.

And oh, so much niceness.

When you check out a girl you see more. Most guys cover up most girls(at least where I live) walk around without much clothing or really really tight clothing. This just all leads to the loving of the breast though so I guess boobies are the best perk. Also you gotta love the booty hip hugger jeans were gods gift to me.:wink

1. Free regulation issue dungarees and DMs for that debonair look about town!

2. Assortment of gay male friends who ask questions based on their inability to imagine sex with no male parts involved: "Don't you have to grease yourselves and then rub and down against each other?" (was there some kind of gayboy bulletin spreading this kind of misinformation? I have had 3 of them independently ask me this)

3. Women. And sex with them. Yum.

Perks of being a lesbian...there are so many!!! :p

When I got promoted a year ago, my best guy friend took me to a strip club in celebration. Gf was not mad or jealous in the least bit. Not even when I came home with a pic of me and my friend and the penthouse pet we saw that night!! :grin

Other perks...soft cuddling, no sex pressure when snuggling for hours, understanding that 'I have a headache' is a real excuse when it's that time of month....and, of course, the whole not getting unexpectedly pregnant is a huge bonus! :bounce

I laughed my ass off reading through this tread...:rofl

Cuddling... foreplay that can last for hours... sex that can last for hours... no getting rash from morning facial stubble... while at uni/college, can shower with lover without breaking "no boys rule"... And, my personal favorite of being a lesbian, having sex with women. And, more than that... just being intimate with women is so incredible. I love women, all women, I really do. I'm a ho :D
