Liars.
There's a moment when I look at you. And no speech is left in me.
My tongue breaks, then fire races under my skin.
And I tremble, and grow pale. For I am dying of such love.

i love lawyer jokes. i mean, for the most part they're pretty funny. but they're just jokes. i get super peeved when people slam lawyers seriously. when a doctor sends you for every test and invasive procedure to determine what the cause of your ailment is, you don't call her ruthless, you call her thorough. however when an attorney zealously advocates the interests of her client, as she is ethically obligated to do (and risks sanction by the board of bar overseers and a malpractice suit if she doesn't) that's suddenly something that allows you to negatively stereotype an entire profession? until you need the services of one, of course.

Pet peeve number one: I've shown you how to empty the sodding Dyson thirteen times. If you're still gonna make me empty the damn thing, don't criticise my technique!!!!

Pet peeve number two: "Why didn't you answer the phone?"

"I was on the toilet."

"It was important."

"I was on the toilet."

"I don't like it when you ignore me."

"I wasn't ignoring you, I was on the toilet."

"I needed your help."

"Yes, but I was on the toilet. I couldn't answer the phone."

"You could have stopped."

"Excuse me?"

"Never mind."

Can't a girl have a crap in peace?

Pet peeve number three: My mother was a teacher with a degree in English. Barring a slight stutter sometimes, my speech is near-perfect. Bad grammar irritates the hell out of me. Some of my friends have picked up better grammar from me, along with a few made up words, but that's neither here nor there. One of my friend's father dislikes me because I speak well. He thinks good grammar is an insult to his Geordie roots and a southern accent is snobbery. He refuses to speak to me and my friend has confided that she intentionally dumbs-down her speech around the house. Incredible, isn't it?

Pet peeve number four: I don't mind abbreviations in text messages, but I have a cousins who hates vowels and only uses then when she absolutely cant get out of it.. Her texts resemble freakish geometric algorithms (sp?) designed to trigger epileptic fits. An example: R u n nn cmn 2 ncstl 2nt cs mums mkn lm pie.

Erm....what?

I detest the use of capital letters on nouns when they are not proper nouns. It’s okay in German but not in English…
Actually, I have a host of grammatical pet peeves but that’s today’s.

I'll have to join you guys in bad grammar and text speak one.

I hate net speak, the way people write online it's just, how hard is it to type proper sentences? God.

Also, Self Help books. They're crap. All they do is peddle a bunch of easy answers and simply generalise everyone and everything, and if the writer isn't saying "omg you're so damn perfect, everything is wonderful, lalalalaaaa!" they're being a condescending twit. And what's worse is that people actually buy into to this tripe.

People who get annoyed with my inability to spell and wirte neatly.

Ok sometimes I can't string a sentance together properly.I once wrote a letter then added lots on punctuation at the bottom and said insert as apporiate.

Try undertanding text speak when you have no idea how the word was meant to be spelt in the first place before some letters were replaced with numbers.

I am neither, lazy, dim, nor un-educated, I have two degrees. I am just dyslexic.

Being dyslexic is very different from bad grammar in general. A dyslexic person is obviously not going to spell incorrectly on purpose.

Pet peeve number five: People picking on my cousin Rosh for his dyslexia. Come on people, grow up.

Pet peeve number six: How the idiotic bigots around my town can't come up with a better insult than /geordie accent/" How man ye fookin dyke"/geordie accent/ Being called the same thing for years on end gets BORING, morons!

Thanks for the warning, now I won't have to rush around to pick up a card and gift. [/sarcasm]

People who point out moves in solitaire :

"You can put the red seven on the black eight."

"Yes, thank you."

"Ooh, black four on the-"

"Yes I can see it."

(Pause)

"Black seven-"

"FUCK. OFF."

The way Limewire changes the postion of the "later" button on the pop up telling you to upgrade so you cant do it automatically every time, you have to actually pay attention. Good marketing technique, but bloody annoying.

The way when you play minesweeper the little face at the top makes an anxious face every time you click on a square. It's not that suspenseful!

Coldsores.

DVD players with pissy temperaments that only work if you hold the cath in with the pointy bit of the headphones then close the thingy really fast, thereby creatingcramp in thumbs. Bastard things. Watch out.

This makes me sound far lazier than I am, but it's true:

Bagging my own groceries at the grocery store (when I'm not going through the self checkout, or express lane).

Of course it also irks me to no end when they DO bag my groceries for me and they don't put things into a bag when the item(s) fit in a bag! I like to make as few trips as possible when I get home, and I will typically hang 8 or 12 bags of groceries on my arm(s) in order to get the bags into the house in one trip.
