Brown cords, a white camisole top & a brown thingy, hmm, what is it... it's a jacket-y thing, I guess, with a little hoody, but with no sleeves. A gillet maybe? :confused - well, whatever it is, it's very cute, & summer-y.

A pink Hello Kitty T-shirt that I use specifically for lazing around in. I think if I wore it outside I would be shunned :blush and some blue jeans.

Black vest top thingy (I have a horrid feeling that the American word is wifebeater) and jeans. It's been hot here today (especially as I was briefly in London) so I needed something cool.

And I'm told that this top makes me look like a dyke, so yay me! :pride

I am wearing, brown combat trouser-y things, a brown camisole top & a cute pink bolero (I believe that's what it's called :confused) with pretty little sequins around the edging.

It appears, that brown has become my colour of choice for clothes at the moment. :hmm

It is my understanding that for it to be called a "wifebeater" it must be a *white* mens ribbed undershirt. So you are safe :D.

topic: black birkenstock sandals, cream cargo shorts, and an orangy v-neck fitted long sleeve shirt.

Oh, thank heavens. I know I've discussed this somewhere else at some point, but I simply don't understand where that name came from! It's awful!

A sleeveless undershirt, regardless of color, is a tank top, FYI.

(Of course, there are some problematic militaristic connotations to that term, but they're less offensive, IMO, than the mysogynistic "wife-beater" appellation! :happy)

Topic: blue jeans and my white "REI 50th Anniversary" polo.

The shirt has an interesting origin. In 1990, I went on a faboo X-C ski touring trip to the Wallowa Mountains (in Eastern Oregon), w/ the Portland Parks Department (I was a resident of "The Rose City" at the time :kiss).

After I got back home, I realized that I'd left my bathing suit and beach towel at the lodge (w/ a hot tub, doncha know! :party). I called them, and they sent back my bathing suit/towel (the bathing suit is long gone, thought I still have the towel) . . . but also, w/ this REI polo shirt rolled up in them! I'd never seen it before in my life! :shock

Well, I decided that the Universe apparently wanted me to have this shirt, so I've kept it ever since... ;-)

GG Though it's now worn out enough, that I only wear it in casual "at home" situations. FWIW, I *believe* that REI's (that's "Recreation Equipment, Incorporated"? The outdoors outfitter?) 50th anniversary was actually in 1983---so the shirt was already pretty old when *I* got it! Out

hot! yeah, white is the traditional whifebeater color, but you'll often hear someone say "a [insert color here] wifebeater." tank tops are an entirely different creation. i don't care what color they are, girls are downright delectable in them!

topic: brown corduroys and a blue thermal-ish shirt.

No, you see, here a "tank top" is a rather nasty polyester or wool sleeveless jumper with a horrid pattern and usually an egg stain down the front. They are worn by old men and trainspotters, usually over a dress shirt with grubby cuffs.

Girls do not look good in them...*shudder*

right, which is why "wifebeaters" (men's ribbed undershirts) are not the same thing as a tank tops.

egg stain... you crack me up. shouldn't you be in bed, or are you just fond of posting about in next to nothing?

Oh, you Brits: the former is simply a "sweater vest". It's nothing like a tank top whatsoever.

[Etymology: I'm just guessing, but I think it's a "Duh"? Tanks are warm inside. Ergo, operator of said war-machine, would want to strip down into his---or her---sleeveless undershirt. Voila! The tank top!]

GG Re the aforementioned "sweater vest": girls may not look good in them---but this here Drag King looks pretty darn natty in one, if I may say so myself (*sans* egg stain, Thank you very much! ;-)) Out

But natch, I only wear a sweater vest (very occasionally) in cold weather. In warm weather, as we have in the northern hemisphere this time of year, I favor a tank top (and/or muscle T, which is also sleeveless, but has a crew-neck like the typical T, instead of the lower neckline of a tank top).

[As to how I look in the latter? I have it on at least one Kitten's opinion :flirt, that I'm "gorgeous"! :smug]

So just to clarify - these tank tops of whiich you speak - they're sleeveless but are they strappy? Thick straps or thin straps? Perhaps someone could post me a link - I like to know these things :)

Topic: A long floaty chiffon aubergine coloured gypsy skirt and a white ballet wrap top which really shows just a fraction too much cleavage but what the hell ;)

Thank you!

I'm happy now I know what you're all talking about! I think I would call the regular tank just a sleeveless top, and the spaghetti strap one I would call a vest top.

I can't decide blue pin stripe skirt suit and blue shirt or black pinstripe shirt suit and white shirt both with pink pinstrip.

I won't be wearing either if I don't iron a shirt or find my cuff links.

ETA opted for a black touser suit and white shirt with pink pinstrips. I ca't wear the skirts as I have nic big bruise on my leg
