I learned to drive in a 1974 Chevy Caprice Estate station wagon (a green one with that fake wood on the side). It was a huge car, and I had to learn to parallel park it. We also had a 1966 Chevy van (3 on the tree). That was our drive-in movie vehicle.

My favorite TV show was M*A*S*H. Did anyone else watch that?

Xanadu? Good Lord, what a horrible movie! Hard to believe that was Gene Kelly's last time on the silver screen ...

Alright, I confess - I have that song "Xanadu" downloaded on my drive.

What was the first concert you went to see?
For me, it was Heart back in '86 or '87. Me and a friend skipped school, stood in line at the ticket center, and ended up with 2nd row seats. Been to many shows since then, but I never had such good seats again ...

My first concert was Celine Dion on my 10th birthday. August 26, 1998. Right before the start of 5th grade. WOW do I feel like such a kid... I remember when I heard the announcment on the radio that there would be a concert ON my birthday, I got so excited and BEGGED my mom for months to take me.

Me too! Sing it with me...

One banana, two banana, three banana, four.
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go,
Coming up to bring you the Banana Split Show!

lol, there are lots of old people around here, if 30+ could be considered old, which in Kittenland, I suppose it probably could be. (There are a couple threads around here somewhere...Gen X- The “Other” Ages Lesbian Thread and Old Lesbians(ok I relent-Experienced&Empowered Dykes).)

I have vague memories (because I was about 4 years old) of going to The World of Sid and Marty Krofft. Reading about it and seeing it was open for like 6 months, I guess I was pretty lucky to get in there during that window. I just remember that everything there seemed huuuuge. (Probably because I was so wee.)

Those were the days. Remember vending machines where you had to open the door and pull the bottle (glass, of course) out of the rack and sometimes the bottles didn't want to come? And there was a bottle opener right on the front of the machine? When I was little, everyone had those wooden Coke crates laying around (I found a picture here) and took their bottles back to the grocery store. I remember some smaller plastic Coke crates, too, because my mom used them in the bathtub when I was 5 and had a broken arm, so I could rest my cast (plaster, natch) on it. During one of those baths, my mom came in with a kitten the neighbors were giving away and asked me if I wanted it. Duh! Well, before we could get her fixed, she had a litter herself. I named the kittens after the cast of Dallas. (Sue Ellen was my favorite!)

Didn't Dukes of Hazzard come on right before Dallas? I remember having a Hot Wheels or Matchbox General Lee and a black Trans Am Firebird. (I found a picture! God, I still think that is the sexiest car ever.) Yes, I loved Smokey and the Bandit. Cannonball Run, too. I have Jerry Reed's "East Bound And Down" on my computer. That song rocks! I love it.

Oh, sigh. I'd better stop for now before I get carried away.

Happy memories, Kittens!

Speaking of old. Beside the Saturday morning Puffnstuff & Banana Splits, there was weekday afternoons with "Dark Shadows" and the marvelous Mrs. Emma Peel and "The Avengers". Gosh did I wanna be Emma Peel; the first strong female role model for me on TV! Yep! She rescued John Steed as much as he rescued her. They would both be in a fight with the bad guys at least once every episode. She would karate chop guys and throw 'em across the room while Steed would be across the room beating up his guys with his umberella. I still have all those episodes to watch. Still enjoy them to this day. Jan
