These days I take something to help me fall asleep.

write my troubles on a square of paper and make an origami swan. Then stare into space for 2 hours till finally drift off. (Or read message boards, I need to sleep now!!!)

i never have trouble sleeping when i'm by myself. which is weird because i was an insomniac for years. years. like teens through mid-twenties. years.

but for the past few weeks i've had a hard time falling asleep when i'm in bed with the girl i'm seeing. so after lying awake in the dark quietly for what feels like hours, i usually nudge her and whisper most-pitifully, "baby? i can't sleep." and she proceeds to a) make out with me, or b) play with my hair and rub my back till i fall asleep.

I have problems sleeping when The Other Half is in the bed too, ktv. I blame that fact that - for the vast majority of the time so far - one or the other of us is jetlagged. Hopefully that's not a permanent thing!

I tend to watch TV or read until my eyes start to droop. Or I listen to a very, very dull radio station we have here...
