I just finished reading Room. It was... bracing. I don't know. Beautiful and tender and sort of horrific at the same time. I think most of the horror is what happens in your mind when you're not reading it or at least it was for me. It's the first book I can remember since the last two HPs that made me stay up late to read it and want to stay home from work.

[spoiler]The book is narrated by a 5 year old boy named Jack who lives, with his mother in the garden shed where she has been locked since she was kidnapped 7 years earlier. [/spoiler]
