For my take-with-me book I'm reading Death's Daughter, and for my at-home book I'm reading Crime and Punishment. Opposite ends of the spectrum, but both wonderful.

Hi Laragh,

John Banville always looked a bit daunting to me.

How are you getting on with that?

A whooole bunch of fanfic: Darkness Falls, She's Got A Way, Neverland, How I Met Your Mother, Spark to a Flame, A Woman in Uniform, My Heart Draws a Dream, and a non-WT fic called I Am What I Am.

Oh, and I'm still reading Crime and Punishment and am now on Cat's Claw.

wayland -

I like it! His writing and subject matter is pretty dark and not the easiest to read, but he makes it funny. Twisted kinda funny, but funny.

For my English children's literature lecture I'm currently reading The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien, my other English lecture Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, and for my French lecture Une Si Longue Lettre by Mariama Ba. For myself, I'm currently reading Among The Ghosts by Amber Benson, Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind, and a book written by one of my French professor's regarding the cross cultural contexts of fairytale icons. Hmmm...no wonder I don't go out much lol.

The Gift of Fear by Gavin DeBecker, a book I think every woman should read because it respects intuition and has valid information about protecting yourself and listening to your intuition.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker. It's hard (emotionally) at parts, but very worth it so far.

Ariel - That's one of my favorite books. I'd say it's one of the top 5 most life-changing books I've ever read. It will change the way you watch the news and even have conversations with friends.

Jas - I love both The Color Purple and Temple of my Familiar. Temple is probably in my top 3 or 5 favorite fiction books ever.

I just started Run Less, Run Faster.

Deb, you're the only person I've run across that's read that book! My mom put me on to it. He also wrote one about protecting your children, teaching them how to make good decisions when their of an age to be able to do so.

Right now I'm reading The Catch Trap by Marion Zimmer Bradley, have always loved the circus and used to practice at being a tightrope walker. (Used to walk a 6' high 1" wide board fence backwards and forwards to prepare for my career - lol!)

Ariel - I've read that one about 10 times I'd say. A straight friend in college loved it and gave me a copy. The binding is shot but I love the story.

Re-reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

I read this my senior year of high school, and I'm revisiting it 7 years later.

It's definitely a better read when I'm not being forced to read it, lol.

If you're into true crime stuff, try Ann Rule. She is excellent and writes about high profile cases, as well as lower profile bizarre murders. She is most famous for The Stranger Beside Me, Small Sacrifices and Dead By Sunset.

**I read The Stranger Beside Me (about Ted Bundy) when I was in college in Florida and it scared the shit out of me. To this day I have never gone to bed without checking every door and window in the house, lol.

Thanks for the 411. On the real I consider myself a bad ass and even I was freaked out by Ted Bundy. I was like oh hell to the no! I will start trucking it like Speedy Gonzalez yo. You just don't know. LOL.

Good thing I don't fit the profile girl. No one wants some loud ass mexican as their victim.

Poisonwood Bible is life-changing, and I remember A Wrinkle in Time to be pretty great too :)

I'm reading George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, it's spectacular.
