Have been on the phone with Dia for hours...will be until the battery dies...they have been without power for hours but the main storm is yet to hit, they are safe and have made a little family nest on the living room floor so that they can stay in the interior away from windows, the kitty and doggies are inside but despite protests from my sweetie, Megan would not allow the frogs indoors...Willow would love Megan I am sure...I have been acting as their eyes and ears since the power went out, relaying updates on weather conditions...so far just wind and rain...main storm will not hit them until early morning or so...although some reports say in a couple hours, but the storm seems to be moving slow...can't be too bad since the ladies are hanging outside where it is cooler...further updates as they happen or until I lose contact, whichever happens first...Sandi out

Last I heard from Dia they had lost quite a bit of the roof and the tree in the yard, thank God she moved the car! The back end of the storm is directly over them right now, heavy rain band and 75mph winds...but we are out of touch...no cell service, just a text saying she can't call and loves me...I know they are planning on going to stay with relatives in Mississippi after the storm is over so they will have a roof and electricity...will give further updates as I get them...keep sending those good vibes, we need them...wedding plans and move are pretty much trashed at this point, no idea what we're going to do

By some miracle I just got a call from my sweetie, from what I could actually understand of it, which wasn't much, the signal was horrible...they are definitely going to Mississippi as soon as it is safe cuz they are having sewage backup in addition to the previously stated problems...got cut off after that...will keep you posted...keep those good vibes and prayers coming in!

I am so glad to be miles away from the storm at this time, but feel awful for those who aren't so lucky. I hope my stepmom's parents are ok as they live on the coast. Also, the pictures of devastation are scary...but I'm glad to know Dia's ok, and my thoughts are with her and all the others who were affected and hurt by Ike.

Another update from Ms. Dia...just when I thought I could breathe easy...they are on their way back home...all roads out of Houston that lead to Mississippi are flooded out...apparently the roof is just missing shingles not large chunks so it is a leakage situation instead of an "Oh look, the sky!" thing...we got cut off before I got any more info...will let you know when I know more...so until further notice, Dia will be spelunking her way through the aftermath of Ike with all the other Houstonians...crap!

Anyway, they are stocked up on canned food and lots of water so no worries on that count...

Dia made it back home and they have canned food and water and a generator, but I have been calling everywhere to find FEMA distribution center for them to get the food...everywhere I call tells me to call elsewhere or disconnects me...does anyone have any info? I am giving up...I have numbers but you can't get through...online is just to apply for aid for damages...on TV they keep talking about how they have sent in 5.5 million MREs and water and such but can't find anywhere that you can go to get them...anyone???

I had a drive at my company for all of the people in Ike's destruction path and sent out the proceeds today to the address I had for the relief organization.

Sandi, please make sure Dianne knows that even if I've been super busy with my wife and children and work that she is still very much in my thoughts and worries and prayers. I hope she is alright.
