Let's talk about Football!!!

Postby skittles » Sun Apr 27, 2003 9:29 am

Well, the Hammers beat out Man City in a really scary game!!! 1 to 0 and throats are hurting & hands are numb from clapping.... but they did it!!! YAY!!! Now we have to win again!!

Hey, samiam, I just read this at the Beeb:

"Stoke's relegation battle will go down to the final game of the season"

So, it looks as if there still is hope for you... Keep Cheering!!!

I've not, Arsenal have never been relagated from the Premiership or Divison 1 before it. But hey I have seen my team throw away a five point lead.

If there was a way that both teams could avoid relagation, that would be great,

There is, Leeds Utd could go down which would be funny and we are playing them next. So hey you never know ( I still think West Ham deserve to go down though.)

I agree, it would be funny if Leeds went down. It would be yet another case in point that you can't just throw loads of money at a mediocre club and make them a great club.

Obviously I disagree that West Ham deserve to go down. We probably deserve to be in the position we are at the moment because we've shown no guts all season, up until now. At least now we have a couple of clubs in our sights.

I'm still hoping Arsenal will win the league, so I'm cheering Spurs on against Man Utd at the moment. Looks like Keller's playing another blinder.

Honestly, no i don't...but what the hell...if they're good enough to catch Sonya's fancy then they're good enough for me to cheer them on. Not the over all sports buff but i am a damn good cheerer...comes along with being the friend of a cheerleader for the last 2 years.

So again i say Go Stoke and win...so they don't get relegated because that would devastate Sonya.

well it looks like Man Ure have done it, Spurs players, you don't deserve to wear that shirt after that performance. Arsenal you have bloody blown it!!! What on earth has happened???

Closer to home however:

Liverpool manage to put 6 yes SIX past West Brom at a time when many Liverpool fans are fed up to the back teeth of Mr Houllier and his Wimbledon tactics. This may well mean he is here to stay for another season :sob

and Carlisle Utd win 3-2 yes THREE - TWO against Torquay. Well done the Cumbrians

has the world turned upside down this weekend???

I was praying that a chance would fall to him and thankfully one did. Mind you Spurs were woeful, their only saving grace was Kasey Keller.

Glad to see that West Ham beat City......:grin

My highest praise is reserved for that wonderful Arsenal defender Martin Keown, what a greatheader......:rofl

Zoe walks into the thread, proudly wearing her Arsenal shirt with the name Freddie emblazon across the back.

Ok, it looks like a done deal, but I shall keep my head held high. I am bitter yes, but while I have air in my lungs I shall remain loyal to my team and therefore I will be sarcastic to all who leave themselves open to it, my apologies for this now, but all is fair in love and football.

Now where has that Everton fan gone? I am in need of a Rooney shaped miracle.

A belated well done to Woking for their superb 3-0 win on Saturday to maintain their Conference status.

However, I did regret my wish for them to overhaul the Boro when the fans decided to stage a protest that delayed my departure from the ground by more than an hour.

Still, Nikki, I'm glad for ya mate.

Now, if you could return the favour and give support to the Villa boys it'd be much appreciated :)

Em, I'm still floating somewhere about cloud 9, needless to say I was a very, very happy soul on Saturday.

For some bizarre reason, my Grandad was a Villa fan, so I feel that I have some claret and blue blood in my veins. (Its only strange coz he's from deepest Surrey, and never went to Birmingham in his life). You've only got Sunderland and Leeds left, so that should be 2 easy victories :p

So now Woking's season is over I will be lending my support to

Aston Villa

Stoke

West Ham

and much as it pains me to say it, the Arse

Have I missed anyone?

ETA Em, I'd love to read your covergage of the Nuneaton game, is it online anywhere?

Re:

Nikki, your support is very appreciated, I have still not given up hope, I am starting to think it maybe a personality flaw. Mmmm.

According to my paper, the imaginatively titled Sunderland Echo, Villa are in for a shock because Sunderland intend on claiming another 3 points from them this season, as Mick McCarthy looks for his first win, but this is the paper which printed Wilkinson's 'Sunderland maybe rock bottom of the premiership but we aren't in any trouble' comments.

I forgot to say do you want the Woking crest turning into an avatar? I host all the other footy ones, don't want you feeling left out.

Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you, I don't care who you are and what you plan to do. I am the resurection and I am the light, I couldn't bring myself to hate you as I fly.

Nikki,I was at the Nuneaton Borough game as a news reporter to do an atmosphere piece and also cover any trouble.

But if you go to this page you can find the two articles I wrote for pages one and three. Scroll down to "Bitter End for Boro" and "Fans' Misery As Boro Go Down". The actual match report is a little below that under the heading "Time Runs Out for Boro". Any spelling or grammatical errors are the fault of whoever subbed it, not the writer

Now, I'd just like to point out that someone supporting Aston Villa is never bizarre. It is in fact the sign of a stable and sane mind, and shows a person's ability to realise that it's not winning that counts but the taking part

As for Sunderland, I have a bad feeling. Saturday could well see me downing several pints of the black stuff. Let that be a warning to anyone in my company at the weekend.

I think this post's mostly filler

See, I have this kind of sympathy for Sunderland because of Mick McCarthy, who I always liked as Manager of the national team. However, if they beat Villa this weekend, I may have to take to the black stuff too. And oh what a sacrifice that would be!

ROONEY!

He scored another cracking goal the other day. I too hope he scores against Man Utd in the dying seconds, in order to earn a win for Everton (as he did against Arsenal to end their unbeaten run earlier this season), but that's for Everton's sake and not Arsenal's!

All the same... come on Wayne!

Well I'm wavering between confident and extremely apprehensive about todays match. I think I will feel better once i see our team sheet and it DOESN'T include the name Dailly....one of the biggest donkey's in the history of the game, along with Rigobert Song who single handedly lost us every match he ever played in....well almost. Quite how we managed to get a million pounds for him I'll never know.
