My neighbour's kittens just adopted me. They took over the bit of space in front of my door and keep dragging dead lizards over. I'm hoping that's a sign of affection cos I'm feeding them.

Halcyon, my cat always did that too !

I've been told that cats bringing you dead lizards is a way to show their "master" that they made a good hunt (Eeew). Like they are proud of it or something...

It seems that your neighbour's cats like you a lot ! :)

And I understand why, if you're feeding them... ;)

I have a bitch. She's Freyja, a little Blue Russian/Tabby. When she was a kitten, she was blue with dark blue stripes due to the tabby in her. Now she's just gone all silver with darker silver strips on her tail. She's just a bitch. Her hello is to come up and lick then bite you. She's extremely pretenious but I love her. My girlfriend and I bought her for our 2 month anniversary. We're scarily like Will/tara, in that we're wiccans and have a cat that we bought together [and of course, Gay-type lovers :P]

I have a real stealth machine named "Snickers".

She's orange and black and a purrrrrfect bird killing machine. I recently had to buy her a collar with a bell on it because she kept killing birds and bringing them up on the porch as a "Gift". Other than that she's a little sweatheart. I also have 4 dogs and 2 horses. Obviously im a little country girl.

Zera, Freyja's such a beautiful name. :)

My partner and I had three kitties, Lola, Greta, and Jonah. We unfortunately lost both Lola and Jonah to coyotes, but Greta recently became a mommy!

here's a cute pic of my gf, Jessica, with Lola (the black baby) on the left and Greta on the right.

I had a cat named "Lucy". She had bright orange hair like Lucille Ball, so I named her that. I love cats because their so independent and affectionate at the same time. It was funny, I use to wink at my cat and she would wink back; I would tell her to run from my brother and she would run; and she like to play follow the leader sometime she would be the leader and sometime one of us would be. She was very smart. She would kill all the moles in our yard and present them as a trophy, if we threw them away she was insulted and would dig them out of the trash and put them back on the porch. Some nights she would sleep in my room, she would sleep on my head. Digging her claws into my head and hair to make a nest to sleep in. Occasionally I would knock her off, because she would dig her claws in too hard, but she would get back up again. It was like sleeping with a hat, and I love to hear her purrr.. I miss her :( I desperatly want another cat and weep each time I see one on the streets or in a mag/t.v show, but I can't have one where I'm living. Maybe, I get a sneeky cat like Tara did :grin

Well ~Liz and I have 3 cats (and 2 dogs Casey Jo and Norton- we didn't name Norton...poor thing came with the name). The cats are Gabrielle (callico), Lil'Bit (looks a bit like Pixie's Greta..but much bigger now lol), and Prince/Princess Boots, a black with white-boots(hence half the name). Poor Boots. ~Liz name 'her' Boots as she looks exactly like a kitten she had when she was little; her 6 yr old cousin Mikkol, decided it should be Princess. So they compromised for Princess Boots. But then they were told 'she' was a 'he' so he was Prince (for a day) and now they think it really is a girl so I suppose Boots could actually be called The Cat Formerly Known as Prince and as yet I dont know if the confusion has ever been rectified. Boots and Norton lives with ~Liz in Canada (she'll be getting her own place soon and I can take our other 3 babies up to her since I'll be moving to TN while working towards immigrating to be there). I havent met Boots yet, but Im sure I'll love him....or her. LOL.

I suppose that was a big long-winded. Sorry. lol.

Oeh, we got 'm ! Finally ! The new kittens have arrived ! :) Two of them, this night, full of thunder and lightening (hopefully not a bad omen). I was worried sick they would be traumatized already while sleeping outside, in their pen, under the terrace, for the very first night. Luckily, I found them to be as lively as hell during the daytime, when they got to reside in my father's work place.

They both have a kind of gray eyes, the female is a gray tiger as well, the male a black one. I've been negotiating with my sister and parents to call the girl "Miss Kitty Fantastico": I know, not very original around here, I'm well aware, but you should have seen the look on their face: ah well, they already know I'm crazy. So her name is shifted to the other one "Pino", after my mum's black male cat, when she was younger (kind of an ode).

They are sooo cute ! Not to mention playful. MKF was real quiet tonight, calm in my hands, Pino was meowing. In their pen MKF was already checking it out. She's very inquisitive, exploring things. Pino loves food, he's eating all the time. I fed MKF by putting some of it in my hand (so what if I got bit the second time: anything for love, right ;) ) But somehow I think she'll be alright, using her wits, waiting till the other one has enough, and sneaking in to eat the rest. She's also such a vixen ! They've been chasing each other all day, wrestling, trying to grasp at everything with their little paws. Apparently they're pottytrained, and go in the litterthingie already, which is great. When not fighting, they do sleep next to each other, which is just adorable. My dad had to cover up his orthopedic shoes (work) with a towel, so they wouldn't gnaw at it, but the towel came down anyway with their little claws. MKF was going after my necklace too, grabbing the pendant. She's truly mischievous. :)

This is sorta a big deal for me. I've been allergic all my life (23 years) to everything that had hair, feathers... (excluding humans, well, most of them ) It's no fun if your sister reproaches you in every raw we had, that we didn't get to keep any pets because of me. Even my parents always wanted to keep one, but thanks to me... Anyway, they're staying downstairs, and when they're used to us, we're gonna train them to live outside, and return to their pen every night. So I won't get in that much trouble. So far I've sneezed somewhat, blew my nose, but no scratching yet. Better wash my hands a lot. I still can't believe it: we actually have kittens ! Think I'll take another peek. Thanks for reading my happy rant ;)

Yes! My two babies are Trinity and Pasha.:) Trinity is an orange-chocolate calico with big beautiful yellow eyes. Pasha is a grey and tan striped tabby. She's hyper and seems to think my toes are chew toys in the middle of the night. Trinity goes into heat all the time (no $$ for double spaying), so my ex-roommate and I called her Horny Cat. Well, enter Pasha...my gay cat. Hee. She's all about Trinity. More power to 'em. Except my house is all lesbian kitty porn sometimes. They rock. I love them.:)

Then I have 2 strays I care for a Tuxedo Tom named Sylvester and a scrawny bowlegged, crooked tailed kitty we call Timmy. Then there is the neghbor kitten Punkin, who seems to live at my house, a fat fluffy orange tabby. Those are my current kittys.

Just the one cat. She's old, and she's cranky, and we've had her for what seems like forever.

I think I like the dog better!

I have two cats called Lotje and Gijs (dutch names :) )

They are a mother and son...and when we got them the son was just a few weeks old :)

They're mad as hell, completely traumatised (we got them from the local home for lost animals) but they can be really sweet and cuddly :)

And at work we have two cats called Tigger and Pudding (also mother and son) and the extra birds and mice they bring in ;)

Pudding is really cute cos he's only 6 weeks old :D

We used to have a small gray rabbit, called "Gijsje"(, "het grijsje") She got pretty old too. Today's a big day for me: I'm home alone and have to take care of our two kittens: feed 'm and everything. I'm sure I'm up to the job, though ;)

Here ya go Skittles, i started this thread a while back, under my other name before the board bummped me and i had to create a new one :lol Anyway we can talk about our kitty fantasticos all we like here :)

How long have you had your "baby" and did you say how you came to adopt him??

Cats are actually pretty cool pets, you dont have to take them for walks, they have their own "bathroom", they keep themselves entertained when we arent around..Chelsea doesnt do much except sleep anymore, i think it has more to do with her age and the fact that she may have arthiritis than being lazy..I dont know if cat years are like dog years, if so, she is really an old lady cat :lol

Do you have any other pets or only your gentleman cat?? Its kind of cool to talk to a fellow cat lover...I tell my parents that Chelsea is their "grandcat", they have no grand children yet, my brothers arent married, so until a real one happens along, Chelsea is all they have :grin

Well, I've had him about 5 years now. And, yes, I suppose that he's spoiled. There is one "thing" that I got him because I travel a bit is the electric litter box.. Yep, I got it & he uses it. started him with a regular one, but my nephews couldn't always come over to clean it, besides they are teen agers, so I just saw it at a good price & got it. No transition problems, 'cause he must have had a good momma cat.

Yes, he is an "only" cat, but he's not my parents' "grandkitty" by any stretch of the imagination. Firstly because my mother is NOT a cat person & secondly because he doesn't travel well. If I do take him on a trip of any distance either I have to drug him or listen to him "scream" the entire time. And that is no joke. I think caterwalling is the term but it is more like cater-scream-screech-cry-howl..

Your cat is 10 years old & you want to know if he's getting up there in years. well, yes, but here's some fun. I found a cat age calculator.. there's a few of them out there, but click on this one:

cat years calculator

I like it because you can use decimals to figure out partial years..

I got him from a former co-worker. Another co-worker knew that she was looking for a home for this little kitten that was dumped on her farm. Her spayed calico was "mentoring/mothering" this stray kitty, but the little kitty needed a real home before it went feral. It already was very wary of people.. Well, I was going to get a kitten anyway & this one needed a home quickly, so I came home one friday with the kitty. Took him to the vet on Monday for a flea bath, new kitten checkup & it's shots. (found out about feline leukemia & feline aids then, too!!) He was so tiny. The vet tech who gave him his bath, said he was so cute & never complained about the flea bath. He just sat there soaking wet. He was so scared of everything.

As far as Chelsea is acting. Have you taken her to the vet to make sure that it's just old age? I know that vet's can be expensive, but there may be one that charges less than the others. look around, or see if there's a vet school in the area.

Now, how did you get Chelsea? You said your ex gave her to you, but is there a story behind it? was it before she became your ex & were there "custody" issues? (like you said, pets are like kids!)

I'm looking forward to reading..

I have cats, a boy named Apollo and a girl named Smokey.

I got Apollo in New Orleans around 10 years ago from some friends down the street whose cat had kittens. (also got his sister but she died about 6 years ago,hit by car.Sniff)

Apollo is funny cause he talks a lot. He didn't used to until his sister Artemis died. She had been the talker. He is so darn noisy. I wish I knew what he was saying. It's embarrassing when we let him out (he'll nag until we do) because he sounds like he could wake the dead. .

I think he likes to go out and just hang around apartment complex.(We' re in a suburban area). Saves me from his occasional "pee" problem inside.

Got Smokey in Birmingham, Alabama about 8 years ago when she was a little kitty. Her mama was dead and she and her brothers were found and taken to vet by dog lover who nagged my gf into adopting her.

Smokey is very clever and would prefer to be an only child, but she has to compete with Apollo as well as Brigit, the dog.

It's gotten funny, cause at night when I take Brigit out to go to bathroom, Apollo usually follows, as well as Smokey who has it in her head that she has to go with us, too. So, at night I walk the dog with 2 cats following. Apollo is usually caterwauling, and I make sure I tell anyone who might see us that he "is fixed."

Anyhoo, those are my babies, and I love them.

Janice

P.S. to Linda-hey, you can call me Janice. I picked emma peel as moniker cause I went thud first time I saw Diana Rigg on The Avengers in mid-60's on ABC tv. She's still one of the best!

I know exactly what you mean about Diana Rigg, The Avengers was my fav tv show cause of her :drool Its interesting how many cat owners say that there cats talk so much..I never really thought that way about cats, as "talkers" :lol

And Skittles, Chelsea had a checkup before i moved, in Apr...The vet gave her, her shots and then checked her out, said she was in good health for an older cat, just a touch of arthiritis..I think because im not around as much as i used to be in CA, commuting 2 hours each way to work and then working 9 hours, she gets very lonely...She misses me :(

Its really cool to hear about everyones pets, Chelsea is like my child :lol As Skittles and Emma Peel have attested to, that seems to be the case with most cat owners...They own us, we dont own them :lol

Edited to add, i think i calculated her age right, she is 55 years old in cat years..Wow, she's 8 yrs older than me :lol And my ex gave her to me while we were still together..We broke up not long after that, she took her cat Lizzy and i took Chelsea...No custody issues :)

i have a cat. he is not very cute, when you are asleep he jumps on your head or chest and pokes your eyes with his paws. he hides behind the curtains and when you walk past he leaps out and attacks your feet. each night he brings in a small animal of some sort and leaves pools of blood in the kitchen. he steals your food. drinks out of my fishbowl and the toilet. if there are flowers around then he eats them, too. and whenever he makes friends with another cat, it has a tendancy to get run over (this has happened three times, now, and another one had a heart-attack) all in all, not a very pleasant feline, but love him, anyway, :grin

i used to have the sweetest cat in the world, though, he spoke to you (not in human talk, obviously) was big fat and ginger, pretty much acted like a big blob, letting you do anything to him and once when my cat invited another cat into the house he sat under the chair rocking backwards and forwards going WOOP WOOOOOP WOOP for about 15 minutes.and he greeted you at the door when you came into the house (i think he thought he was a dog or something, certainly acted like it)

and now i have babbled on for long enough, and anyway - i'm a dog person, :grin

I'm trying to stop the wife from getting another kitten -- as four is just a little too many for a two bedroom apt. (And it'd give poor Amelia a little rat heart attack)!

I currently have three cats. You can see how cute they are by clicking on this link: internettrash.com/users/p..._cats.html

You'll also find a picture of our bunny (we gave him to someone who had a big space for him outside) and our rattus rattus (who died last year).

I adore my cats! They actually lived on my property before I did, as pets of our landlords. Unfortunately they barely acknowledged that the kitties existed - they didn't spend anytime with them and didn't feed them regularly, so we took them in.

The cats are part of my family, and I have the rolls of film to prove it!

P.S. - we didn't name these cats!

So many cute cats. I have two: William and Charlotte, and I'm embarrassed to say that I helped name both of them. Charlotte was named after the character in Pride and Prejudice who marries for money. As for William...well, I wanted to call him Daisy, but my GF thought he'd have gender issues. I thought we were beyond that, frankly.
