So who is all going to be at the Chicago gathering?

My wife and I are still trying to find a babysitter (grrrr).

Warlock, this Motor City Kitty is planning on being there (if you guys will allow me to be). Off the top of my head, the closest 'L' stop would probably be the Red Line Thorndale stop, but it would be a bit of a walk. If it's late, I'll probably drive instead of taking the CTA.

Ah, Moody's. Part of my old stomping grounds! The place is extremely casual (a paper plates, Miller on tap kind of thing) and it's so dark inside that you can't see your hand in front of your face, but it's fun. If you like silly mixed drinks, order a Moody Mama. It's about as big as your head. Sit in the garden and...ahhh.

Wish I could be there with you. I just found out I'll be moving back to Chicago at the end of the summer (from NYC), and I'm really excited. Maybe we can line up something else for the fall. Anyone ever been to the Green Mill? If not, run, don't walk to hear Patricia Barber--exquisite (lesbian) jazz performer.

Smashed. Wrecked. Gone.

Ok, I'm more than happy to call Moody's with a time, to ensure we get a good place in the garden. I have to work that day, and will be coming directly from there - you must not laugh at my work drag - so how does 7:30 sound to everyone?

Rosenberg- you are right about the nearest stop being Thorndale. Depending on where you are staying, the El should be fine both coming and going. The Andersonville/Edgewater/south Rogers Park area reminds me alot of what Lake View felt like 15 years ago. Us gay folk are moving in, and making it all pretty!!!

Ruby - I love the Green Mill, and have gone there since before I was able to be in a bar legally. I would be up for another gathering in the fall.

So, who's bringing the camera?

I got a digital one, but I am running into a baby sitter snag.

That is the problem when your parents are 300 miles away. And that is about how far I like them! ;)

7:30 sounds like a real good time. I was originally planning on spending the night in western Michigan, but I'll just stay over another night in Chicago. The only camera I've got is the disposable kind. I hope you can find a babysitter, Warlock. I'd like to meet you.

There aren't any reservations, so I guess whoever gets there first can put up a sign of something.

What time is good for you guys? I was thinking around 8 that night, since it's sorta close to dinner time and things like that. Let me know if that doesn't work, or if anyone else has any better ideas.

We are having a hell of a time finding a babysitter. I am not sure if we are going to make it or not.

I'll keep trying though.

So no reservations are allowed at Moody's? Too bad. I don't know what my schedule will be like but maybe I can get there a little early and hold things down. 7:30 sounds like a great time to me.

Postby Bobos Mom » Mon Jun 10, 2002 7:57 pm

W.I .- I’m on line tonight, so decided to write out some directions. Should you wish to improve upon them, feel free! Also, I have no idea how to get there from the North Shore or any major highway. Such is the life of a city girl who doesn’t drive.

Moody’s is at 5910 N. Broadway, one block south of the Thorndale stop of the Red Line. I am perfectly comfortable walking around this area at night, so everyone should be fine getting there. For anyone driving from the downtown area, the easiest way would be to exit at the end of Lake Shore Drive, (Hollywood), turn right on Broadway, and go two blocks north. Moody’s is on the west side of the street.

We should have no problems with finding tables – that beer garden wraps around the back and is huge!

I’m coming directly from work, and should be there by 7:00pm. E-mail me privately, and I’ll give out a general physical description so we can all find each other. I’m kind of hard to miss in a crowd. Also, a general head count nearer to the date would be great so I know how much space to claim. I’m also happy to give out my cell phone number for anyone unfamiliar with the city. Whatever’s needed to ensure a joyful, kitten-filled time.

Garner and Tim – check your e-mail later tonight.

Bobo’s Mom – I plan on being there a little on the early side, probably between 7:00-7:30, so we may be the only two there at that time. I’m kind of easy to miss in a crowd, so I’ll either email you or you can email me for descriptions. I’m pretty sure I have a good idea where Moody’s is, so I don’t think I’ll have too much trouble finding it. I was planning on driving back to Michigan Saturday night, but I may have to revise my plans. I don’t want to have to leave too early if I’m having a good time, eh?

Any Atlanta Kittens out there?

So it looks like Atlanta (or surrounding suburbs) for the time being. Are there any kittens out there that could give me any advice on what part of Atlanta to look at as far as jobs, living, etc. My Mother mentioned Marietta. If there are any kittens out there who could offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......................

Anyone going to Toronto Trek 16 July 5th-7th?

Please stop by Tara's Dorm room (formerly known as convention room A) for a meet and greet. We'll have

munchies, a discussion panel, a raffle (with some cool

prizes), some great art work and of course Tararific spirit.

The room will be open from 7pm til 10pm

Hmmm…maybe I should bring some roses with me to see if anybody’s interested in making them float. ;)

Does anybody know if there’s going to be a W/T videofest going on in any of the rooms? I wouldn’t mind watching some scenes of past W/T goodness. That’s something that never bores me. Only 3 more weeks to go!!!

floating roses, hmm

Rosenberg sweetie, I think that is going to be part of the

Tara Dorm Room experience, we have some music, someone is bringing a vcp. There's alot going for this little event.

If others have any ideas please, please, let me know. Tara's

Room is the culmination of many. So many loved the character and the actor who played the part. This is one of many ways to show fan apprciation for all the hard work.

San Diego Comic Con

Postby Rally » Sat Jun 15, 2002 12:41 am

I would like to get some info and talk going on about potential visitors to San Diego Comic Con. Amber mentioned at her signing in Santa Barbara that she was invited to SDCC but we still do not know if she has decided to attend or not...

Officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

AmberTrek 2002

Postby ambercatsmom » Sat Jun 15, 2002 7:32 am

There is going to be some super cool Willow/Tara videos at the convention. I was contacted by someone who has painstakely put together a three tape set of Willow and Tara. I mean how cool is that? It will be shown during the evening.

Folks are putting together flyers for different events that would happen in a university setting.

Just to give the feel that this could very well be Tara's room at the University. This is where Tara and Willow came to be soulmates. Yeah it started at the Wicca meeting, then the laundry room, then down stairs in the day room. But Tara's room is special, because that is where they did majicks, hung out with each other and gave love to each other.

Too bad we couldn't have done this a few months back, or if Joss hadn't been such a prick and kept Tara alive...sorry bitterness from other threads coming into this one.

Well, I got my baby sitter, so Natalie and I will be there, but not till about 8 or so.

See you all then!

Oh, for those of you want to be able to ID my wife and I on the street. Here we are. This is a bit old, but it's still us. I did something different to my beard and I have different glasses.

W.I.

Saturday night it is! Thank you for pointing this out. Somewhere in the depths of this thread I think we started to refer to the date wrong. Oh well. Good catch!

Warlock -

Bring that camera, my friend! I'm so happy the babysitter details worked themselves out. I have a feeling this gathering will go a long way towards healing some raw wounds. Know what I mean? I'll mail you my cell number later in the week, should you need to get in touch while coming into the city.

Ruth -

Chicago loves you to. It told me so.

Seriously, should you ever come back this way, we'll just have to have another kitten gathering in your honor.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Rally, I plan on attending the SD Con. ^__^

I'd like to find out if Amber's gonna be there, but even if she isn't, I'm gonna be going if I can get it off. I'd just like to know if she's attending or not so I can go with a specific day, since SD Con is huge and I need to ask about a month in advance to have a specific day off. Already asking about the weekend after the con so I can go back to NY to see my neices, both born since I got out here.
