Seems that I killed the thread. :lol I'll give you a hint. The singer of this song starred in Queer As Folk.

"She Waits" by the Hal Sparks Band?

If so, here's one:

they call the house the risin' sun but the rooms were dark and dingy
she packed her bag when the year was done, she won't be back again
she's a-goin' home, back to carolina
leavin' fiddler's rim behind her

ooh, ooh, i know. it's dave carter and tracy grammer, "farewell to fiddler's rim." i love them. i was at falcon ridge the week he died and tracy came anyway and played "gentle soldier of my soul" at the beginning of the tribute set, and it was just so incredibly sad. his music still has such an amazing presence at that festival every year since his death. it's funny, today i was filling out one of those silly surveys on myspace in which you finish a sentence. one said "love is..." and i wrote "a tanglewood tree" and linked to the lyrcis. such an incredible songwriter that guy.

okay, here's one that just popped up on my playlist:

she says, "come on grow old with me,
they say the best is yet to be.
i ask you to hold my hand, put your arm around me, help me understand.
dependence is new to me.
completeness, a wonder to see.
something comes inside of me,
and i, i have never, never felt so free.
i'll tell you once.
i can't do it again.
i love you more than i can comprehend."
this was an independent girl.

That is the lovely and of course talented Erin McKeown, "Something Comes."

This one is apropos for today:

Tumble outta bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawnin’, stretchin’, try to come to life
Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin’
Out on the streets
The traffic starts jumpin’

Is that a children's song? Did They Might be Giants sing it? Or someone named Joy Nicholas or something? I don't know but this thread has been dead for a while so I was just wondering.

Little Red Monkey by Jimmy Edwards and Dick Bently

Here's one:

Leave me lying here cause I don't wanna go
A million miles running and I hit the wall
I bounce back and I run some more
But this is it I'm giving up I'm calling quits
So get down and meet me on the floor

Squeeze - What the butler saw?

Kiss the rain
Whenever I'm gone, too long.
If your lips
Feel lonely and thirsty
Kiss the rain
And wait for the dawn.
Keep in mind
We're under the same sky
And the nights
Are as empty for me, as for you

Billie Myers - Kiss the Rain. Good song!

Another ditch in the road
You keep moving
Another stop sign
You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

Beth Orton - Anywhere

I pretend I can always leave
Free to go whenever I please
But then the sound of my desperate calls
Echo off these dungeon walls
I've crossed the line from mad to sane
A thousand times and back again
I love you baby, I'm in chains

Oh, I love Tina Arena and this is Chains. Is she "family"? I could never work it out..

After we've said all there is to say
Am I still in your heart or am I just in your way
My desire for you is running wild, jealousy, the dangerous kind
When I see you looking at another woman that way

Elvis Costello maybe? Wrote it? Man, I dunno but close enough right? :D

You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

Goodbye My Lover, James Blunt

I am the sound of love's arriving
Echoed softly on the sand
Lay your head upon my shoulder
Lay your hand within my hand
I give you all that I am

And I breathe where you breathe
Let me stand where you stand
With all that I am

Dude, kisstheviolets that is an excellent song. Based on your username and this lyric I would have to say that you have superb musical taste. Anyway, the lyric in question belongs to the song "Little Pieces" by Juliana Hatfield (or The Juliana Hatfield Three, to be more precise).

Falling for the creep the body leech here he comes
Vicious hypnosis, a clenched fist saying it's wrong
to want more than a folk song
underneath the shaker knit he's a brick wall
she keep falling for the trick vegetariate sing-along
give a little kick with your fine thigh high.

Dorkscool, what a great song. "Wet Blanket" by Metric, right?

Once I was open, could hope, I had no doubt
But that was the worst thing that I could do
It was just about the worst thing that I could do

Once I came close to that most elusive fire
Burning with hopeless love and desire
But it was just about the worst thing that I could do
It was just about the worst thing I could do
