Do you ever stare at somebody's name for forever trying to figure out how to pronounce it?

JMT- How about this name? Yhh'rwch'

My Random Moment- I Just typed 'OK' in a text message, sent it and then realized it corrected to 'I hate you.' Apparently, my daughter thought it would be funny to go into my iPhone shortcut settings and change commonly typed words into something completely different. :impatient :punish

Probably, lol. I can't remember how she pronounced it, but we just referred to her as, 'Your Sandwich.' Another good one was, Khan Okhorn. So, would you like a can o'corn with your sandwich? :p

Walmart is evil. lol. This year to test my will, focus and discipline I banned myself from all junk food. I'm talking soda, cookies, candy, chocolate, chips, ice cream, etc... There are mexican things I like that I can't eat either. Walmart always has sales on candy and stuff. Seeing Sour Patch cheap is like really? I've been doing good though, but man is this a bitch. Being vegan for a whole year was easier. :P

Generally if I text my wife around 2:00 and say "can you take out the other chili?" (meaning the frozen container that I froze on Sunday when I didn't think we would eat it this week). I mean out out. Like on the counter. She moved it from the freezer to the refrigerator so my dinner is only infinitesimally less frozen than it would have been otherwise.

I found out that my girlfriend is even more perfect than I thought. She was looking through my dvd's to pick out a movie and suddenly I heard a yelp and she said, "Oh my god, is that Buffy?! I love Buffy! It's been at least ten years since I saw that."

So now we are going to watch al the seven seasons together when we are at my place. When we are at her place we're going to watch all ten seasons of grey's anatomy :banana

My wife did a load of laundry yesterday and folded hers & mine (the kids have started having to fold their own clothes). I'm just sort of shocked. Generally she puts it in the washer and leaves it there. So I guess she went farther so she could put the new sheets on the bed but she also folded my laundry. Wow. I can probably count on one hand the # of times that has happened in the last year.

So that was cool and I'm sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Ugh, internet-crush is making it so hard to get over her! My thoughts of her will ease and then she'll do something adorable again like use the phrase "holy toledo!" and even without knowing her name or having seen her picture she's just so darn *cute*. I am a dummy and need to not feel this way. But it's hard when she takes her many many hats off to me or is otherwise ridiculous.

Just read that Nancy Garden, the author of Annie on My Mind, died last month. She was 76 and had been with her partner Sandy for 45 years. I have such a vivid memory of finding that book by total random accident on my public library's bookshelf when I was 19 and newly out. My father was a Baptist minister and I had been struggling for years with being equally sure that A) I was a lesbian, and B) I was going to hell. I knew I would die miserable and alone. Annie's title caught my eye, and after reading the synopsis on the back, I buried it in a stack of books I was checking out. I left the library, parked by the ocean, and read the whole book sitting in my car. I was so surprised that someone had written a book that described perfectly the way I felt AND had a happy ending! No one committed suicide! No one was beaten or raped! It was a total eye-opener for me, and that was when I began to think that maybe I would be okay after all.

Wow, total flashback! Anyone else have memories of this marvelous book?

Was driving home with the kids this afternoon ... and there was hardly anybody else on the road. Almost like one of those scenes in a disaster movie, you know? Nothing out of the ordinary today, no big storm, no parade anywhere. Just weird.

A coworker of sorts has always struck me as the living and breathing Eric Cartman. Every time I see her, random Southpark quotes come to mind. I heard someone else speaking about her today and under their breath they muttered "Respect my Author-itay!". Damn near choked on my tongue trying not to laugh out loud....

I had to take my mother to the social security office today for some random bureaucratic bs, and that place make the dmv seem sane. First a woman was escorted out for not having an identity ("lets go, Jane Doe"), then a woman accused me out of the blue of stealing her seat. Then the real weirdness started.
A woman pushing one of those easy to sit on wheelchairs comes in with two infants laying perilously on the seat, except they aren't actually infants, they are dolls. A man walks in with her, carrying a third doll infant on his chest. They are all wearing bibs that say things like "i love my mommy". She sits all three of them up on the walker seat, and my mother whispers to me "I think she's going to feed them". However, after 75 minutes of waiting, my mom's number was called, so we didn't get to see how it turned out. If they had seemed remotely creative, or were less dead behind the eyes looking, I might have thought it was a performance art piece. so, so odd.

My wife's motto is, "First I get mad and then I get even." I don't see it very often, but the mama bear claws came out this week when a 'friend' of ours did something fairly shitty to me. It was right along the lines of, "No one messes with my girl."

I don't know how I missed this news. I thought "Anne on my Mind" was a very sweet YA novel, and it encouraged me to rethink the genre.
Oddly long before I read the book I had seen her at the book store in Concord, and was surprised at the big turnout for her talk, I assume for her it would have been the local book store.
Edited to add:
I always wondered what would have happened to Anne and Liza given the book was written in 1980.

My mom came up with our “Williams Family Motto.”

“Where there's a Williams, there's a way.”

I'm not sure how I feel about that.
"Miss Edith speaks out of turn. She's a bad example and will have no cakes today"

I have a fish named Drusilla. He doesn't know, he thinks his name is Drew. Shhhh...

Spike: Are we feeling better, then?
Drusilla: I'm naming all the stars.
Spike: You can't see the stars, love. That's the ceiling. Also it's day.
Drusilla: I can see them. But I've named them all the same name, and there's terrible confusion.

I haven't seen The Nutcracker live in person, but I did the next best thing. On Christmas Eve last month I went to a theatre to see a recorded showing of it which was filmed live from Moscow. It was thrilling!!! I was in such a happy place. The coolest thing was being young and surrounded by old folks. I overheard the conversation a lady was having behind me. She was a huge fan of ballet and has been collecting programs since the 60's. What a history. She talked about all aspects of ballet like I do sports. She knew her shit. It was so cool thinking about things I would have never thought about. She doesn't know it, but I am grateful to her for giving me that.

Last week I was sitting in front of the TV, robotically attaching mailing labels to about 4000 direct mail post cards, when I came across this last name...

TITSWORTH

I didn't mail the card, because there is no way in hell anyone could hold it together should this poor unsuspecting person happen through our door. Nope. Not a chance. We barely made it last year through Cockshot.

Seeing these ninas(girls) being muchachas(young ladies) now. I enjoy watching them grow up. They have a long way to go until they're women, but I have enjoyed being part of their lives for so long.
