I have such a vivid memory of finding that book by total random accident on my public library's bookshelf when I was 19 and newly out. My father was a Baptist minister and I had been struggling for years with being equally sure that A) I was a lesbian, and B) I was going to hell. I knew I would die miserable and alone. Annie's title caught my eye, and after reading the synopsis on the back, I buried it in a stack of books I was checking out. I left the library, parked by the ocean, and read the whole book sitting in my car. I was so surprised that someone had written a book that described perfectly the way I felt AND had a happy ending! No one committed suicide! No one was beaten or raped! It was a total eye-opener for me, and that was when I began to think that maybe I would be okay after all.
Wow, total flashback! Anyone else have memories of this marvelous book?

I didn't mail the card, because there is no way in hell anyone could hold it together should this poor unsuspecting person happen through our door. Nope. Not a chance. We barely made it last year through Cockshot.
