OMG meretricious I love that song! One of my favorite bands of all-time. "Again and Again" by Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

There is this thing keeping everyone's lungs and lips locked.
It is called fear and it's seeing a great renaissance.
After the show you can not sing wherever you want.
But for now lets all pretend that we're gonna get bombed.

That, my dear Ames, would be "Sing" by The Dresden Dolls. I love that song to pieces. The whole album, actually. In fact, I'm listening to it right now.

Don't cry, there's always a way
Here in November in this house of leaves we'll pray
Please, I know it's hard to believe
To see a perfect forest through so many splintered trees
You and me and these shadows keep on changing
I am the ground zero ex-friend you ordered, disguised as a hero to get past your borders.

That, my dear Kate, would be "Haunted" by the lovely and talented Poe.

You said yr piece,
it's killing me,
I can't believe
it's over.
Oh, oh, oh,
yr not the enemy
but underneath
you don't agree.
Take comfort that it's over
oh, oh, oh.
Yr hands tied,
you feel shy,
believe I'm on your side
now and forever,
oh, oh, oh.

:blush Sorry I killed the thread, I kinda forgot about it actually. I'm surprised there weren't any kittens who knew that this song is by Gossip and it's called "Jealous Control Girls." So someone else can post a lyric since my tastes seem to be obscure.

Dance Me to the End of Love sung by the one & only Leonard Cohen.

The music's too loud and the noise from the crowd
Increases the chance of misinterpretation
So let your hips do the talking
I'll make you laugh by acting like the guy who sings
And you'll make me smile by really getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing...
I am, you know.

Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis

Proud Mary by Ike & Tina Turner, Tina Turner or CCR...Take your pick. :D

With the dark,
I see so very clearly now
All my fears are drifting by me so slowly now
Fading away

I can say
The night is long but you are there
Close at hand I'm better for the smile you give
And while I live

"Follow You, Follow Me" by Genesis

I knew just what to say
Now I found out today
All the words had slipped away but I know
There's always a chance
A tiny spark will remain
And sparks turn into flames
And love can burn once again

Remyxamotosis by Radiohead

I seem to recognize your face
Haunting, familiar, yet I can't seem to place it
Cannot find the candle of thought to light your name
Lifetimes are catching up with me
All these changes taking place, I wish I'd seen the place
But no one's ever taken me
Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...

Knock, knock,
are you alone?
No one's out here and I was not followed.
Love, love,
you're already home.

Imogen Heap's "Clear The Area"

I don't kiss the future like the fortune tellers do
So I can't dream with you at night
Pessimism's hunger changes everything
I wish I walked with faith and not by sight but...

You know with anything you do
There’s a hundred people bringing you down
No matter how you are

Okay, so I cheated, but someone has to get this thread going again. :D

PM Dawn - Faith In You...I prefer Set Adrift On Memory Bliss. :)

Try this:

It goes like this,
We have no choice,
The minarets,
The wailing voice.
And vaguely celtic music fills the air.

We choose a foreigner to hate,
The new Iraq gets more irate.
We really know nothing about them.
And no one cares.

Aladdin and the 40 thieves,
Enhanced by brand new effects.
Saddam and his cow disease,
Spiced up with some gratuitous sex

A movie's made,
A war is won,
A low speed chase,
A smoking gun,
Distracts us while the actor,
Takes the stand.

Sell Sell Sell - Barenaked Ladies

Love me faster than the devil
Run me straight into the ground
Drowning deep inside your water
Drowning deep inside your sound
There's a moment when I look at you. And no speech is left in me.
My tongue breaks, then fire races under my skin.
And I tremble, and grow pale. For I am dying of such love.

Oh, I had to dig deep for this one. I'd say a revival is in order!

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams, she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
