The Brag Thread

A new thread? Wow! How awesome.

But why? What's the difference between this and the Happy Feelings thread? Well I guess not much except more bragging. So brag away and no one will accuse you of being a blowhard.

My brag: Tomorrow I'm going to Houston for the day because my 13 year old niece has organized a fund-raising softball game to benefit Make-a-Wish. It's her Bat Mitzvah project and I think a pretty cool one. She asked for donations directly to Make-a-Wish and for the game and food (we sent both of course) and she had shirts printed and organized the game (I'm umpiring). It's a pretty huge deal and she's done a fantastic job!

Ohhhh.. I try not to brag but what the heck. I provided the first ever screen-captures of Willow and Tara’s first kiss on the internet before the episode even aired. Naturally, Kittens got the exclusive photos. That was the best day/week on the Kitten Board ever! (This doesn’t count as bragging but I’m proud to say I take care of Amber Benson’s Official “CHANCE” and “LOVERS LIARS AND LUNATICS” website. I also help her put together the “Tara For Charity” fundraisers – in 2010 that included a very special 10 year Anniversary Tribute for this board. )

One of my most prized pieces of BTVS memorabilia is Amber’s Wolf Shirt!

Yes, that thread was actually started a couple days after the W/T kiss photos spread like wildfire from the Kitten to… everywhere else. I remember the first reactions very clearly:

Back then, television was analog and I had a massive 10 foot diameter dish that received the signal sent from FOX to the broadcast stations. These were commercial free episodes, dubbed wildfeeds, sent out several days in advance of scheduled timeslots for Canada and the US. After it aired “officially” videos popped up like crazy. Good times..

My nephew's middle school Quiz Bowl team won 2nd place in the nation yesterday. He is on the A team at his school. The b team came in 5th and the C team which is all 6th graders came in 11th. Memorial day weekend they get to go compete at the high school championships. No kidding, last month they played an invitational and beat Texas A&M.

1. My son learned to make his own Lotus buns this week.
2. My son taught himself to tie water balloons yesterday.
3. My nephew's middle school quiz bowl team is playing at the national high school championships and is currently 3-2!

Tuesday we took Asher to see a doctor and he wanted to do a blood test. To say that Asher is terrified of blood draws is an understatement. He FREAKS out. The last one he had was last summer and I and another tech literally had to hold him down while a 2nd tech did the draw. He screamed and cried that we were killing him and he wanted the police and etc. It was pretty much the worst moment of my parenting life. Anyway, Tuesday Asher freaked and we left without the blood test. He screamed and cried for another 45 minutes until we got home (he and Rachel were in another car).

But... he spent Tuesday night steeling himself. Wednesday he woke up and told me that he was going to do the blood draw Wednesday and also ride the elevator (another fear). And he did! He went to the office and went back for the draw, then said no so the tech said he could wait in the waiting room. He waited about 20 minutes, then said he was ready and went back and did the draw. Wow! He rocked it! and he rode the elevator.

Whew!
