We keep losing this thread, but I think it's an important one. Here's the thread where you can post about where you live :)

I guess I'll break it in.

During the school year, I live in Southern California, the Los Angeles area to be more specific. Stay tuned, because I hope to move in the next year or so.

During summer, I live in Israel. In a tiny, tiny village (that's not a Kibbutz, it's a defunct Moshav for those of you who know anything about these things).

I don't exactly remember where Pardes-Hana is. I live in Michmoret. Do you know where that is? It's near Beit Yanai, inbetween Netanya and Hadera.

I live in a little village in North Wales. Not far from Chester.

The village I live in used to be owned by William Gladstone. it was all part of his estate.

The deeds to our house still have a clause that allows certain members of his staff or whoever replaced them to come in and inspect any of the pipework or electrics!!! The house was built just after the second world war for war veterans returning home. The part of the village where I live is known as "The Square" which is so imaginative....:)

I only moved here in June so I don't know a lot about the place but St Deniol's library is in the next village and that is where Gladstone lived until he changed the place into a library " in 1889 for the pursuit of divine learning".

Well, I think I have wittered enough for now!

Jules

Edited to say: Just down the road from me is "Willow Lane" :grin

Postby Rally » Fri Sep 20, 2002 9:44 am

I always hate saying I am from, someplace, it's confusing. I mean I was born in Oakland, CA, but I grew up my entire life in San Bruno, CA. Now San Bruno is a town that almost no one has heard of, though in fact, the San Francisco International Airport is in the middle of San Bruno. My parents are planning on selling their house in San Bruno, they have lived there for 35 years, it will be strange.

At any rate now I live in Sunnyvale, CA, which I often have to stop myself from calling it Sunnydale. Couple that with that I live on the corner of Willow Avenue, it's very confusing. But Sunnyvale is not so bad, my grandparents used to live down here. It's my first time living in the Southbay, near the heart of Silicon Valley, it's a tad warmer here than San Bruno, but it's nice. I've lived in my current place for almost a year now, and assuming my landlady doesn't jack up the rent come the middle of next month. I am content to stay put for the time being.

------------

Well officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Amaranthcat, I also live in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm not from here, but I live here now. I have moved a lot, like many people, I suppose, and have also lived in Philadelphia; Golden and Fort Collins, CO; Missoula, MT; and some other less interesting places. :)

Then hi, neighbor! :)

If we're doing other places we've lived, too... I was born in Boston, but moved away at a very young age, so I don't really remember that part of my life. Then I grew up in a dreadful little New Jersey suburb. In the general vicinity of Red Bank and Asbury Park, for anyone who might be familiar with that area. I came to Pittsburgh for college and have been here going on six years now.

To add a new country:

Since 1999 I live in Braunschweig*, Lower Saxony, Germany. It's a 250,000-citizen-city about 40km south-east of Hanover.

I moved there when I started my university studies. When not in Braunschweig (and not at some concert or role-playing convention somewhere in Germany) I'm usually in Celle , a much smaller town (ca. 75,000 inhabitants) where my mum and siblings live. It's located about 45km from Braunschweig, north of Hanover.

(*= I'm not sure, but I think the English-speaking world still uses the city's medieval name - Brunswick

Although originally I am from Hayward, CA, which is in the Bay Area. And Rally, I know where San Bruno is, as well as Oakland and Sunnyvale. Heh, Sunnydale.

I live in Edinburg, TX. It's a town that's only like 30minutes away from the Mexican + Texas border. If you look at a Texas map, go all the way to the bottom(Southern tip of Texas) and you'll see I live way down there. It sucks when I travel to other places. I just recently went to California, and the majority of the drive was in Texas. Once I was out of TX, and into NM, things got better. I love my state, but man is it big.

Kudos to you all

And Autumn, I was class of 89. So I guess we probably didn't cheer opposite each other at football games or anything. Sigh.
