Being the big diverse crowd we are we certainly can't agree on everything.

So here is thread to allow your differences to shine through.

Tell us something you really like or liked that the majority do not.

Remember the rules tho. Keep it civil, play nice. All that good stuff.

I'll start us off.

Things I Like that Nearly Everyone Hates.

- The Tubes last album "Love Bomb". I think I can account for every sale of this album between me and two of my friends. A diamond in the rough really and Fee Waybill's last major release as the Tubes front man.

- The movie "Event Horizon". My wife can go on and on about how this was the worse movie ever, I didn't think it was so bad.

- Strawberry Quik. Sure I have no idea what's in it nor why you might want to make your milk a very bright pink, but I love the stuff.

What do you like?

OMG, Tim - Strawberry Quik! Ewwwey ew. I think milk should be white or chocolatey brown. And if it's white, it should be regular normal milk, not vanilla. :bigwave

Some of my faves...

Buttermilk. I grew up with the stuff and drank enough that my dad called me the Buttermilk Kid. Of course, it needs salt and pepper in it to make it really yummy.

Mustard on scrambled eggs. Yellow with yellow. Please don't put catsup on them - that just looks wrong.

Twister, the movie. Even if the script was doctored by :joss and even if the hailstones look like chipped ice, it still has Helen Hunt in a white tank top and it has tornadoes, and that wonderful line "I can't talk right now ... we've got cows!" :lmao

That's it for now.

Ciao, Melissa

My main problem with Event Horizon is the way about a third of the way through the film there's a scene that totally telegraphs how the films going to end. Though while this isn't exactly a great film, it's still a long way from being the worst ever. (Which, as everyone knows, is Plan 9 From Outer Space :p )

Hey, justin, speaking of Ellen Degeneres: the final season of Ellen.

I was one of those johnny-come-latelies who only tuned in starting at "The Puppy Episode" (i.e. Ellen comes out), and stayed around thereafter.

Both during the final season (as it was being moved around and pre-empted) and especially afterward, I kept hearing (even from Ellen herself!) how it was "too gay" and "unfunny" and "preachy."

Hello!? While "funny" of course is in the eye of the beholder, there's no way it was "too gay" or "too preachy" (either that, or this Queer Christian has a different definition of "gay" and "preachy" :p )!

GG My favorite was where she (?) dreamed that the world-was-turned-upside-down, and hets were the persecuted minority: when her friends came out as straight, Ellen had to grimace in disgust . . . but lovingly accept them anyway! :lmao Out

I really like the movie "the butcher´s wife". I was surprised to hear the movie was a flop and that Demi Moore hated it. I don´t know why and I don´t understand it. I thought it was funny and sweet and I think it was the first time I saw a lesbian storyline in a movie, it was small, but very sweet (and a happy one, go figure).

I can´t think of anything else right away, I think my taste in what I like is pretty generic. My dislikes are probably a bit more ´controversial´. I can have a deep passionate dislike about certain things most people enjoy.

I just had to pop in real quick, since I've been pretty much :buried in homework, but when I saw your sig line, Garfield, I just about died laughing. Thanks for a good laugh... I needed it this week. Grad school is going to be the death of me.

But... to stay on topic in this thread... one thing that I love that most people get rather squicky with the hating is cottage cheese on pizza. Specifically, store-bought pepperoni pizza with the thin crusts. Just cook the pizza and then scoop a spoonful of cottage cheese on every bite of pizza... yum!

I liked Twister and Event Horizon

Not many ppl seem to be either A? aware or B) like Doctor T and the Women, but I loved it, Liv Tyler kissing Kate Hudson, happy lesbian ending ( I know a unique concept :O ) and a stellar cast, including shelley long trying to seduce richard gere, plus for those who like Helen Hunt theres an interesting shower scene :p

I adore the movie Death to Smoochie, it just puts me into tears, but everyone I mention it to goes..."eh, it was alright I guess" ...and then I think "FOOLS!" :p

And I put hot sauce on my scrambled eggs, and pepperoni on a bagel with cream cheese (it's good, I swear!)

that's all I'm thinking of at the moment, but I'm sure there's more...(I couldn't be all that normal, now could I?) ;P

Well remember G, this is not to find things we hate that others love (and thus mock them for it) this is to point out things you love that most people hate (so you can be mocked by the rest of us!) ;)

To aid that here are few more things I think are the best ever and I just don't understand *why* no one else sees it.

Peanut Butter and marshmellow creme sandwhiches.

Tang-whiches. An invention of my family I am sure. Take a slice of bread, butter it and sprinkle orange Tang on it. It's orangey, crunchy, buttery goodness on white bread!

Back to albums for a sec, The J. Giles Band "Your Getting Even While I'm Getting Odd" might be one of the best albums of the 80s. But no one but me bought it. Sure it lacks front man Peter Wolf, and it can at best be described as "weird", it has a style and charm that was unique in the 80s, especially in 84 when it was released. But this album is harder to find than Love Bomb. I think someone in power order all copies destroyed.

More I am sure....

I was always a fan from those 70´s series.

For example Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter, gods how good she was, not cuz of her suit, nah it was cuz she acted really well and i loved her voice *sigh* i still love to watch those episodes in the rerun! Heart to heart with Stefanie Powers and Robert Wagner :D well u have to know that i saw those movies just in the late 80´s (till now) so everyone made fun of me, cuz i am one of those few visitors bla bla bla....and Xena ok its not that bad, but when ever i told someone that i like to see Xena and Gabbi fighting, than they were laughing about me:fit2

And food well, take a piece of black bread, butter and cheese and put some ketchup on top JUMMY i can tell ya...but not all like it...weirdos JK

Well, I like lots of things that many people hate, but the biggest thing (particularly in England) is Hanson. I'm unhealthily obsessed with them, and just about everyone that I know absolutely detests them and laughs at me when I say that I love them, and I do agree, MMMBop was AWFUL, but it really doesn't reflect the rest of their music. Anyone who really wants to know what the allure of Hanson is should listen to This Time Around, their second studio album, or Underneath Acoustic. The harmonies, and the maturity in their lyrics are just amazing, and I have to love them for it. Please, if MMMBop is the reason you hate Hanson, give them another chance. I'm sure that you'll be glad you did, I'd put money on it. Plus, they're really great guys who always find time for their fans. I met them at the Sega place in London and at both their London gigs and they were so sweet and funny.

Guess I'd better quit waxing lyrical about them, but I LOVE them.

Peace love and Hanson

Rachel

I like this thread ..have you noticed how food oriented it is lol

Talking of which.. Cheese and Marmite sandwiches, they're the best.. or if there's none to be found, salmon, cucumber and chocolate will do as a stop gap.

I like spinach... especially on pizza with a poached egg on top.

I like the film Murder on the moon starring Brigitte Nielsen, Julian Sands, Gerald McRaney, Jane Lapotaire & Brian Cox. It's SOOO bad it actually very very funny but i nearly got killed when i made my friends sit through it on video :crazy

I also tend to like movies none of my friends do - really indie, often foriengn language stuff. Plus the music that gets me going is very expereimntal non-diatonic stuff, so I usually have to pay my friends to come and listen.

Let's talk about... weird food combos. These seem to earn me very funny looks but since I've had them since I was young, it's all 'normal' snacks to me. :)

Vanilla ice cream with corn syrup on top...yum! Yea, sure it SOUNDS very... ick, but bear with me, my sister and I used to have a scoop of ice cream, put marshmellows on top, pop it into the microwave and melt the marshmellows (and the ice cream) then top it off with corn syrup! It's very good, and although I'm more of a salt person, this is enough sugar to get me through a very long day! :D

Speaking of salt, I'd spinkle salt on my apples...or in my pop...yea, I know, I'm weird. :crazy

And though it was named the Worst Movie.. Spiceworld wasn't THAT bad to sit through. :ashamed lol It had it's funny moments and maybe because it didn't exactly make sense, that's what made me like it.

Ms ikle ikin, actually I am big fan of metal as well.

My band of choice for a while was Iron Maiden, but I also like Megadeth and Metalica (when they were cool). I used to like Pantera till I found out what racist pricks they really are.

Though Body Count was the best damn band there for a bit. Now I am getting back to old school. Listening to a lot of Black Sabbath right now.

Great thread, Tim.

Movies:

Twister is one of my favorite movies of all time! I never tire of watching it. And I never tire of complaining about the fact that you simply cannot be that close to a tornado and barely even be dirty. It's ridiculous. But I love it. A lot.

And I thought Spice World was hilarious!

Mmm...food:

I love banana sandwiches and I've found that no one else seems to think slices of banana on white bread with mayo sounds good. Fools! ;)

I actually like mayo on many things - fries, hot dogs, corndogs, and such. Scrambled egg sandwiches are good, too. (Yeah, on white bread with mayo.)

Music:

You know, I'm really ashamed of this one, and I'm only going to admit it because I love and trust Kittens so much. You know that New Kids on the Block song, "Tonight"? Love it. :sigh

oh, finally I'm not alone. that was my most favourite song ever for a few months. Every now and then I dig out the tape and play just that one song. but not very often.

And Twister? love it, seen it about 20 times and never get tired of it. Cheesy disaster movies are the best - I'll also admit I kinda like The Towering Inferno, even though Richard Chaimberlain gives me the creeps...
