I don't make it over to this part of the Kitten Board nearly as much as I should any more, but whenever I do, I'm amazed that even now, a couple of years after Buffy went off the air, we're still getting new members! It's amazing! And it's made me curious, so I thought I'd ask:

How long have you been coming to the Kitten Board? What brought you here?

As for me, I've been here almost from the very beginning. I first met Xita at the old Buffy Cross & Stake, and she told me about the Kitten Board shortly after she set it up. You should have seen the humble beginnings this place had! We sure have grown, and things just keep getting better.

So what are your stories?

I just checked my profile and this saturday I'll have been a member for two years and three months. So I'm very much a newcomer compared to BBOvenGuy.

I was a member of another W/T board and one of the other members recommended a story over here. After reading it I decided to look around the rest of the board. Then, after procastinating a while, I got up the nerve to get an account and start posting.

I found this board by accident in november 2000 a few days after Family aired. I wanted to know what Tara´s secret was and while searching for the answer I ended up right in the middle of the Family discussion thread on the Kitten when it was at Novogate. I had never seen a discussion forum before, I had never heard of instant message and I certainly never considered entering a chatroom. Something compelled me to post right away and been here ever since.

Wow.

Funny too Bob cause it is just about 3 years to the week That We Found Out(tm).

Hmm...came here cause Kirk Baldridge told me to come by. I was working on a WitchCraft RPG game that involved Willow and Tara, so I talked to Kirk and he told me about the Kitten.

That was Sept of 2001 or something like that. I have been at least a little active here since that time as well.

I was also there in the Novogate days. Ezboard, despite it's craziness, is much nicer.

Here's to still going strong!!

I found the board in November 2000, a few days before Family aired.

What brought me here was that the one site I had found about W/T, Roses and Synchronicity, was never being updated. So after season 5 started, I wanted more W/T goodness, so I started looking around and that's when I found this little W/T board at Inside The Web (but they had just moved to Novogate) so I followed the link and I've been here ever since.

I started "lurking" at Novogate (?) in late 2001. When the Kitten switched to ezboard in March 2002, I joined & have been loving it here ever since. I can't quite remember how I found the Kitten, but I'm glad that I did. I've made lots of good friends here & met a few in person... no regrets... of course, no regrets at all.

It's an interesting thought to have. I've been a member for about a year and a half now. I think I just found it from link-hopping through pages dedicated to Alyson. And somehow I discovered Willow and Tara, and how can you be a W/T fan without finding this board?

I got bitten by a drunk lesbian! Does that mean I'll turn into one?

For ezboards... i've been here close to 3 years. But before that I lurked around the other board for maybe half a year before getting to know Xita and the mods. I found out about Willow and Tara... or like finding out the goddess who is Amber Benson, when I was studying in Australia. They aired Hush. I caught that episode about 10 minutes into the show. But when Amber caught my eye... I was glued to the screen. My grocery shopping trip with this girl i knew was forgotten... she came to my apartment to drag me out. After that I knew I needed to know who this blonde beauty was, next day I went to uni to surf the net. I found a few Buffy sites... which pointed me to pictures and info on amber benson... and eventually I was pointed to the Kittenboard. I never been part of any community boards before... and used to think they were boring and stuff. But I discovered that the kittenboard was cool and fun. First 6 months or so (I'm pretty dense at times) I didn't know that the kittenboard had many gay members... worse still... i didn't know what was GLBT :laugh But I found out soon enough...

Been a long way. I always enjoyed the boards. But now i've been less active due to real life problems and work and stuff. I love this board. It's helped me find friends and learn stuff i might not have known before. Some of these friends have helped me grow up and get through really tough times during the past few years.

so there... that's how i got here :lol

sometime last year...my best bud Wired Vixen showed me a message board where people talked bout Willow andTara and posted their own stuff. I was engulfed in the greatness of creativity that was on here, so I felt compelled to join :lol . And I'm glad I did, there are loads of great people on here and I love reading about different aspects of life and other peoples stories and poems. Heck even looking at pictures is fun. hehe.

So i'll be here for a while, enjoying the greatness lurking on here... :)

Hmmm :hmm , I think it has almost been two years... I remember after that thing happens with W&T :cry , I missed the happy and sad parts of the relationship. Then I started to look at Aly and Amber and how they were, outside of the set and I fell in love with them. Down to earth, very funny and very giving to there fans, I wanted more of them. So, I went around looking for Willow and Tara stories just to keep the happy relationship going. Then.... WOO HOO!!! The kittenboard!!! I was like, " HOLY MOLY, I'm not the only one!!!" I was so glad to find people that enjoyed W&T too. But that was not all I enjoyed. I learned a lot more about relationships and love and made a tons of really great friends. I have been questioned about why I come to this site and do I support the content and situational topics of this site. Being military, I binded from being able to support causes and voicing an opinion about certain things. But I can say this, I love the people on here and I love the fact that it doesn't matter if you are straight or gay, we all can enjoy something happy and special. This board, all of you, have helped me understand what it REALLY means to love a person for who they are. Thank you all very very much and I don't think anything will stop me from coming here and being with friends and enjoying so W&T action. Shoot, I'm deployed right now in Iraqi and I'm still coming here and reading the stories and enjoying the articles. Wow!!! I think I'm done babbling for now... Take care... =)

I remember when I got hooked on Buffy.

My sister used to watch it all the time, and I told her she was stupid, so she forced me to sit down and watch it with her. I fell madly in love!

When I saw Hush I jumped out of my skin with happiness and decided that this relationship that was blossoming would be the best thing that ever happened to me. I started looking at fanfics, delving deep into the world of WT. I found Cataclysm Cafe and I followed it everywhere. It wasn't getting updated where I was reading it so I googled it and found the Kitten board. After quite a while of lurking I signed up.

And here I am.

It's been a year or so now, and I'm still here, which is good.

YEAH KITTEN BOARD

Hello Kittens-

Its been a long strange trip. I found W&T romantic and thought they were the best couple on BtVS. Then Season 6 came along and I heard rumors and I went 'no way' which is another reason why you should never back my bets. Then after ME ruined BtVS I got involved with some online gaming (at which I truly suck) featuring W&T. Since I'm a bad gamer I figured I'd do something with more control over the outcome which led to fanfic which lead to the Kitten board. And for some reason they let me stay.

I honestly can't remember when I first heard of/came to the K. Sometime in 2000? (I don't even know about the whole Novogate vs. EZBoard deal).

I was without internet access for about 3 months in late 2001, but started lurking here more and more often after that. I was one of those people who stubbornly refused to believe what I thought of as "mere rumors" ("Big Scooby Death? Having we been hearing about that one every year since S2?"). But by the time (March '02) The Spoiler (of a spoiled-unto-putridicity show :miff ) came around, I knew I had to join . . . mainly, to continue living in denial, and say so ("This will be FIXED! I'm sure it will!") for a few more months.

Truthfully, I've sometimes had a love/hate relationship w/ this board (and, telling truths w/o naming names, I know I'm not the only one! :p ) . . . but :love LOVE:love has way outweighed hate over the long haul. :kiss

I wasn't all that knowledgable about the net when I stumbled onto the kitten. I'd accidentally stumbled upon some W/T fanfiction when I was looking for 'original' fiction and after I read that story I did a yahoo search for more and it kept leading me to the kitten board. At first I remember getting annoyed because the kitten was all that showed up in my search and I was convinced it didn't have what I wanted, but in the end I finally came to explore, been here since then :grin even posted a few fics of my own.

I was very late to the party(I was forced to watch some episodes by a friend and became hooked). I discovered Buffy in it's sixth season and begged, borrowed, stealed all of the previous episodes. Having crammed all of the seasons within a 6 month period I was so high on finally there being gay heroes, and then I was crushed when Tara died. I felt so angry.

I was on the buffyguide boards when it happened. The arguements from Kitten board members sold me. And a big fuck you to a bunch of the buffyguide members out there...There IS a lesbian cliche. It is truth. And the fan writings from here are so good. I've burned up many an hour reading them (thanks all!).

Thank you Xita for starting this website, and I hope it continues a looooong time. Even though I don't post much I don't want that to be a reflection on how much this website means to me. I'm mainly a lurker. AND, to all the kittenboard members....You all rock.

Hmmm...how long have I been a Kitten? Long time, methinks. Since the Novogate days so I'd say mid 2001. In another few days I'll have been a member of the EZBoard Kitten for 3 yrs exactly.

What brought me here? Honestly, I don't really remember. It was probably by accident since I'd been lurking at Cross and Stake and got thoroughly disgusted by The Bronze. I think I remember hearing someone mention the Kitten and I did an internet search to find it. And thus, another Kitten was brought into the fold. I miss many of the old timers and I don't get to post here as often as I'd like. But we still have great people and it's good to see this place still going strong.

I found this place completely by accident, while searching for info on conventions. Something was posted at the original BTVS web site and that link brought me here to an Amber thread. I lurked around for ages and attended a few cons. I was in San Diego at Comic Con when I really discovered the Pens board. I was hooked immediately. I slowly made my way to the Kitten. As I met more of the members it seemed like there was some real love here. It was very hard to be here as the news broke about Season six. I do think it helped me to see what was really going on in the world around me. I saw a bit of myself in the character of Tara and in Willow too. I'm sure that's why I love them so much.

This is a wonderful place, filled with amazing people. I've met many kittens. I'm pleased to call many friends and some are even family.

Thanks to all the Mods for keeping it real, :willow :tara 24/7!

I found this site back in 2001 and I lurked for a few months until I finally got a laptop computer. I was led here through a link on another Buffy board (I think it was BuffyGuide.com) which I was visiting because a couple of my co-workers would watch Buffy every week and talk about it at work the next day. I checked out BuffyGuide to learn a little more about the history of the show so that I could follow what Kathy and Gayle were discussing. I don’t spend as much time on the board as I used to, but it’s sort of comforting to know that it’s there and it’s always nice to see old, familiar names posting. I do have to admit that finding The Kitten was literally a life-changing experience for me and that my life would be much different if I had never discovered it.

I originally came for the spoilers( hangs head in shame), in early 2002 because other boards were always quoting this one and I'd heard grim rumors . Stayed for a multitude of reasons. Funny that those other boards are gone and this one keeps adding new members. Thank you mods .

I found the board in Nov 2002. Tipping the Velvet had just shown in the UK a month or so earlier and I think I was surfing the internet to find information about it. But this showed called Buffy kept coming up in references. I knew nothing about Buffy (well, I vaguely heard of it but thought it was like Dr. Who, which I’ve never taken to). Then I stumbled on to lots of references about a Willow and a Tara. I remember spending several whole days surfing around to compile information, and in the coming weeks ordered some used S4, 5, 6. It was like gold, those shows. When I was a teenager, growing up in the 70s I would have given almost anything for TV characters that mirrored my lesbian self and desires for a loving relationship. I largely focused on W/T, but the whole show caught my fancy, really, with all the subtext, life parallels, etc. I don’t post much, but there’s rarely been a day since that I haven’t checked out the Kittenboard. What’s kept me returning is the respect the members have for one another. The moderators deserve huge praise for keeping this such a positive space to which one can return!

I'm almost sure I came here after knowing about it on the willtara mailing list. I kinda remember the whole migration thing to ezboard, so I guess I was a member, or at least a lurker, on the old board too. My profile shows I'm an ezboard member since January 2002.

I can't believe I've been a part of the kitten for about 3 and a half years. I found it while it was still with Novogate. I was at the Cross and Stake and people were talking about it. I think I did the same thing as Kieli, I searched for it. Once I started coming here, I stopped going to any other Buffy sites. :D This fulfilled all my needs. ;) So, thank you to Xita, and all the other mods for keeping this going for all these years...even after everything that happened, there are still tons of people here everyday. It's amazing that people still write about Willow and Tara...It's impressive. So again, thanks for being here!

I used to wander around in AHAS board, there was a website, I visited the site, I didn't like it and in the end, I found out that these stuff were called fan-fictions and put a google search on Willow Fan-Fiction . The first thing I got was Lisa Countryman's fiction archive. I swallowed the whole thing in three days non-stop, and visited all the links I could find. Eventually I ended up here, and I am very happy about it :)

Interesting thread. :hmm

I've been a member of this board since July 2003, and I still love it just as much as when I first found it.

I started reading W/T fanfics somewhere between March-June of 2003 (which was highly unusual for me; I donno how or even why I started (I was still a case of self-denial back then lol)). And I read a fic by Nika, and loved it so much that I e-mailed her some feedback and wondered about updates to the fic. And she told me to check out the Kitten Board. So I did, and became a member. THANKS NIKA!! :bounce And thanks xita for making this board!! :applause This board helped change my life/outlook on life. :) And through the board I've made some amazing friends here.
