Well, my first name translates as "lily" and while I like the image..... not sure it holds true. I'm not a flowery type person.
My formerly married name, which I gave back with the marriage, was a English word meaning group, so occasionally when I'd be working with people, I'd get the joke about the name. I would not want the focus of the group to be me, the focus was the mission of the group or the entire group... but people liked making the joke.
G, I think I've got the exact opposite of your name. The original family name in Norway was Dahle, which means valley. The place we are from is a valley in the middle of the Telemark district. US/Canadian Immigration gave part of our family that name, but my great-great-grandfather got the "son of" name.... (Actually in Norway at that time, there weren't "family" names, but it was starting to become more common.)
And I get to say that I'm actually a Crabtree. My father's mother's name was Crabtree & my aunt actually has that as her middle name. (she hates it) Watching the old "Little Rascal" movie shorts with the Miss Crabtree jokes was not really funny in our family.

Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more… He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew.. and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless Us, Every One!
