English Kittens (especially from the London area), check in

Postby robotguru » Thu Jul 07, 2005 6:26 am

This is gonna be short cos i don't have much time left at this library computer, but as we can see in the news, London was hit with a number of explosions, so i thought this thread might be a good place for uk Kittens to check in and let everyone know that they are safe.

My paryers go out to any victims of this cowardly attack.

Please UK kittens (especially of the London Area), just leave a short note that you're ok. God, I hope everyone is ok.

This kind of attack is... I don't have words to express how repulsed I am by this. It's just horrible.

London Kitten abroad here, even though I'm living in another continent, that's still my home town those cowards bombed. The 4 bombs were at places within 1-2 miles from where I live, where I went to school, college and where I used to work. This is unreal. My sister and famiy are in the UK for home leave, luckily they're in Sussex and haven't planned a trip to town, they're safe.

I don't have words, all I want is to cry. Or hit my fists against the wall. Or raid the mini-bar in the hotel room I'm currently in. Or any number of things that will make this go away.

Please join in praying for the safety of all London Kittens, and for anyone, wherever they are in the world, who are affected or who have loved ones who were caught up in the atrocities. Londoners, please check-in once communications are restored to normal, let us know you're fine.

I'm up in Scotland but that doesn't make me any less worried. I've even recieved messages from my friends to make sure I'm okay even though I'm not anywhere near London. I am very thankful that my cousin who was near London has went home recently.

I recently made an online friend who has family in London...I haven't heard back from her yet. My thoughts go out to her, and everyone who knows people in London. May they be safe.

We may not hear from our London Kittens for a while yet, as communications are up in chaos. Our thoughts go out to you.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in london, actually its about all i've been thinking about since it happened. I have some family on vacation there they've only been there for a few days, but luckily we got an e mail from them telling us here that they are okay, they were actually on the back of one of the subway cars that were bombed. Thats way too close in my opinion. I cant even begin to imagine what everyone there is going through. :love

Hey,

A UK kitten, but not in London, so, thankfully I'm okay, but my thoughts are with everyone who was caught up in this terrible, cowardly act. :flower

I hope all the UK (especially the London) kittens & their families and friends are okay.

Hey

This is awful. I'm not far from London, and all the emergency services from my town have gone to help out down there. Its a terrible, terrible thing, and I was so shocked this morning when I heard about it. I have an Aunt that work in London and we've yet to hear from her, but it was unlikely that she would have been involved as she very rarley uses the subway or buses. Some of the scenes are terrible, and they can only be worse in the subway. Fortunately it looks like the number of deaths is going to be quite low. Of course, any deaths is too many, and this sort of thing is appalling whatever its about. The worst thing is that the police don't think its over yet, they think that there is more planned. I hope not.

I hope anyone who is in the London area is okay, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that is affected by this.

Heya,

I'm a london kitten but I'm fine I left home to go to school about half an hour before the blasts but my mum was in london when the blasts happened but shes ok, im still worried bout a lot of friends though, one has already told me shes fine, another was actually there to witness the bus blowing up. I just hope everyone is ok and all london kittens are as lucky as me. I'm just thankful that i had to finish maths coursework today in the morning at school or else theres a chance i mightve been at kings cross. I just hope the cowards who did this can be caught cause some of my friends at school has lost family cause of this.

London is such a magnificent city, no one will defeat it or ruin it. History has proven that. This is all so completely senseless and accomplishes absolutely nothing. It is such a cowardly disgusting act. I am so sorry for the victims, their friends, family and of course the people on this board who have been affected by this. Not for the first time and sadly enough probably not for the last.

This is terrible. I'm so sorry. I'm not adjusting to this terrorism-filled world we live in now. It makes me angry and sorrowful. It's infuriating to not feel safe on your way to work or school or wherever you're going. It's all so pointless. These attacks aren't going to help any cause. Those were innocent people. It's so evil, I just don't even have words.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by this and especially to our UK Kittens and their loved ones. I hope you're all okay.

ive actually been away from this board for a couple months, come back to find its all moved an new - but i see the old love an community spirit moved along with it.

im a londoner an just wanted to say thanx for all the kind thoughts an prayers headed our way. the bus that blew up, a number 30, is my bus and the bomber could have in all likelihood passed my front door which seriously freaked me out. my dad turned up at edgware rd tube just as the bomb exploded there and im so thankful he happened to leave the house a little later this mornin an missed it. this has been made especially clear to me as a friend of a friend was killed in that blast.

despite the chaos and (in retrospect relatively low) carnage of today we londoners are made of tougher stuff, an in that old WWII blitz spirit things like this make us stronger. we will get through this an we will not let a cowardly, pathetic bunch of fanatasist nutcases change our way of life through fear.

to all other london an uk kitties, stay strong. and to everyone else - these attrocities affect us all as members of a global village. these monsters who believe they have the right to impose their views on others (leaders an governments included...) through violence can only achieve this if we give in by changin the way we live. so lets carry right on usin public transport (despite its extortionate fares and shitty service, but thats another rant) and goin to the centre of town an all that other stuff ur gonna be just a little bit nervous about doin tomorrow. cause if we dont - they win.

thanx again, love sam x

I would also like to extend my thoughts to the people of London who witnessed this tragedy. When I saw this on the news this morning, one of my first thoughts were about our Kittens in London and the surrounding. It's truly scary reading how close some of our Kittens were to these events. I hope that the coming days and month bring you peace.

Here in the West Midlands of England we are out of the way of what happened today but couldn't fail to be touched by the horror. I have watched work mates try desperately to get in touch with their families in London (all safe so far) but the phones went down there. My partner and I are due down in London in just a few weeks for a get-away. Thank whatever deity you wish that we weren't meant to go sooner!
Peace and love to all those in London or any affected by the callous and cowardly acts today.

Hey

I'm about 20 minutes out of Central London, to the west. Right now, still pretty freaked out, mostly with the thoughts of how I could have easily jumped on a tube and have gone into London completely randomly and for no apparent reason as I so often do, because at the end of the day I love my city.

The worst we were affected my end, however, was just crappy traffic, and lack of tube service. So... in actual fact, not much different to any other day. I did have to get on a bus this afternoon though. Not sure if it was me, or what, but there was a distinct lack of passengers sitting upstairs, despite the downstairs being fairly packed.
And it's odd how when things like this happen, you get random people coming up to you in the street saying "have you seen the news?... are you going to get a tube? you'll be lucky if you're waiting for a bus.... the traffic is awful"... this happened twice before I even got to the bus stop - all of 8 minutes from my front door...

And despite the commotion, panic, uproar, and random people talking to you in the street... people STILL end up talking mostly about Big Brother. What has the World come to?

Good people are now in Scotland trying to influence world leaders through peaceful protest and music, but the men who believe that violence will help their cause appear, both here and in London. They are very wrong. Londoners have been through this before and will deal with these attacks as they have dealt with previous tragedies.

I send my love and hopes for kittens affected by the bombings in London and to everyone affected by misguided people who believe that violence is the only way to solve their problems.

I'm in the UK but further north as well. I travel to London quite a lot and Mum has always worried about me going on the Tube. I've lied to her about it but I would go through 2 of the stations and it's such a scary thought about what could happen just completely out of the blue.

My thoughts are with all the London Kittens, especially those directly affected.

Hi. Scottish Kitten here. My thoughts and wishes are for the safety of all people in London. I hope all the Kitens in London and their families are safe.

There are no words to sum up how atrocious this attack is, although thanks to the situation in Northern ireland we in Britain are far more used to terrorist bombing campaigns than many.

What does worry me though is right now the Government of our country is trying to force through a Bill for ID cards which wil turn the Uk into a police state. So far, common sense and wisdom have prevailed and the ID cards are going nowhere. But now, with these attacks, the Government may very well have the impetus to force through this horrendous policy.

Terorism wins when we change our behaviour and allow tyranny to thrive instead of justice, control intstead of freedom. If Blair gets his way, then the terrorists will have won. I hope for the sake of peace in the UK that the terrorists do not win.

I spoke with my friend, her family is alright. Turns out her sister is usually at the Liverpool Street Station around that time, so she spent most of the day freaking out. By the time she got ahold of her family her sister answered the phone and she cried tears of relief. Apparently the tutor had called off the tutorial for that day, so she had not gone into town. Makes you wonder about all the "what if"s that happened. Like crazy florist's Father, just leaving a bit late that morning.

And my heart goes out to those who happened to be on time, those who just happened to be going into London that day, those innocent people who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, because of evil people.

My thoughts go out to all the family and victims too. Was still quite worried even though Ali mailed me to let me know she was okay. Turned on our canadian radio and tv and there was nothing but. Was glad I could kinda stay tuned in. Its awful though. People were quite panicked here even. Toronto was getting paranoid and it seemed everyone here was staying inside listening to the news. There was hardly any traffic on the main street which was weird.

Hey,

I am American but can't stop thinking about this. All I could do last night at work was try and explain to my kids (re: delinquent teenage girls) about it. I worry about all the Kittens in the UK and hope everyone is ok.

I also worry about my friends there that I lost email addy's from years ago and hope they are all safe.

I lived in England for a summer doing study abroad and spent all of my time in London and this just makes me so sad. Kings Cross was my train stop into the city. Its the site where I first kissed a girl.

I just hope everyone is safe.
