It's Too-Freakin'-Hot Wednesday, MKF! 7/26

Postby NewRuthRising » Wed Jul 26, 2006 6:32 am

England is currently in the grip of a heatwave. It's the hottest July ever recorded. I'm miserable, and I don't even get hayfever. How's everyone else doing?
"And beyond the Wild Wood?" asked the Mole.
"The Wide World," said the Rat. "And that doesn't matter."

to quote a wise person...

"it ain't the heat... it's the humidity"

the humidity in the midwest is what is "killing" me... it has been warmer/hotter before (& will be again) but humid conditions don't help my breathing..

I just keep the air moving (fans, etc.), drink lots of water, keep heat producing machinery off (except the computer) and think snow.

This is England, it should not be so bloody hot!

England didn't even know what summer meant.... until now.

It's hot here in DC, but it's always sort of the dog days of summer here in July and August. The humidity is always oppressive during these two months also. I will say that I heard that France was in the grip of a heatwave as well as the rest of Europe too, and I feel like we're just having the normal (bad) heat and humidity in these parts. Although last week it was 100 and that was pretty stifling. We had a nice long and mild spring though, something that we didn't have much when I lived in Michigan. It pretty much went from freezing to hot/humid in the space of 2-3 weeks there.

I am used to heat, and the bad days to hit 100. I am not used to it when the thermometer moves past 110. Los Angeles area, particularly the san fernando valley has been horribly hot. Yesterday we finally got a cool down. I can't really say how many consecutive days we had past 100. It was weeks. Today it's 10 AM and only 82, with a high of 92 predicted. I'll believe it when I see it.

I grew up in Alaska. i get heat panick-ed... but I have grown to prefer a little heat to the crazy blistering cold of an Alaskan winter. What can I say? A girls got to get acclimated.

Now I live in Western NY - Mostly this summer has been pretty nice - long warm spring, cool breezes, but lately it has been hot and very humid. Thank god we have central ac.

I really cannot wait for the day after tomorrow to arrive. Bring on that new ice age already. It has been 30+ degrees celsius here for weeks now and the humidity is about 200% and rising, sleeping is impossible. On the upside, I should get to harvest enough grapes from my garden to make a ton of wine so I can get drunk for free for the rest of the year.

like everyone else, I would have to agree with the humidity being worse than the heat. But I will see your humidity and raise you stench. The city has a very pungent smell with all the stale air, pollution, animal/human excrement, etc. When the wind blows, it wafts that fabulous scent all around. Oh I'm sorry, I also forgot to mention the very sweaty people who stand very close to you on the subway.

Yes, DC is very hot today. I actually ventured out of my house to go to the museum with my dad and sister, and it was uncomfortably hot outside. The 90 degree weather isn't really all that fun. But I just returned from two weeks in San Antonio, so the Nation's Capital is feeling rather nice in comparison!

It's too humid. It's like it almost feels nice, what with it only being 77, but, it's still too humid. Gross sticky instant sweat!

Yeah it's been too hot here in England.
I'm visiting a friend in LA in Aug so I'll probably melt in the heat.

I was out canvassing for a political candidate today for 2 hours in the heat of the afternoon from 12:15 - 2:15, and then mowed the lawn when I got home from 5:00 - 6:30 with a looooong water break. It was 93 today at the hottest and pretty humid. 65% or so, from what cnn.com/weather says. Certainly not as bad as it is in CA right now, but freaking hot.
