You might not have any choice - the police here have been known to kick off at gay rights protests because they're bigoted themselves and, having experienced homophobia at the hands of the police, nothing would surprise me.

Demonstrations tend to rub the authorities up the wrong way - they don't like to be challenged - that's why I love demo's so much, we never got anything by asking politely for it.

The protests last week were peacefull, I kinda expect some "famous people" to show up too... Not very likely that the police would use outrageous force when the chances of bad bad media attention are so big.

I'm not easily scared though, I've joined many protests and sometimes the police does get pissed... But whatever happens, I know it won't be my fault I'll keep things legal and polite.

Trouble in IL is that while our Gov is a democrat, he has pissed off all the other dems in the state including the Daley-Chicago Machine. Never a good thing.

This is a cause my wife and I firmly believe in.

There has been some talk of the UK LGBT community showing support for the U.S. LGBT community. However, there is little time to organise anything, one suggestion is to stand outside the U.S. Embassy. That could be an idea for all kittens in other countries to pass on the message to congregate around the U.S. Embassy in their country this Saturday. Unfortunately, as it would be the weekend I would imagine there would be few staff to witness the protest. If you do organise anything inform the press to have the event recorded.

Most likely, I'm going to be in the one in San Francisco, my home. But, I've already received invites from friends all over the bay area to come to their protests.

I''m just hoping our local newspaper, The San Francisco Chronicle, gives a better head count on this protest. The protest that happen last Friday was seriously undercounted (and I do mean way, way off). Many readers were writing in to complain about their bogus count.

there's like almost riots going on in LA, protests popping up here and there.
I was going to see Wicked like a good little girl when I was delayed by some idiots that found it nescresairy to yell at me because of... My socks (rainbowcolored with smilies, totally geeky ) Well, I didn't make it to the Wicked Lottery and I didn't wanna go home so I was walking around a little, staking pictures when suddenly... Dorothy stepped in the frame and ruinedmy pic LoLz
The girl from Oz I mean, she said" totally digging the socks" I had a picture with her later, she gave it for free because my name is Dorothy too... So I gave her my rainbowcolored button with "Amsterdam" on it.

By they way... did anyone out there see any television coverage of their particular march? Here in DC there was none. Nothing. Thousands of queer folk marched right past the front doors of the White House and we didn't even make the local news. I'm off to get the Washington Post right now to see if we did any better.

ETA: The Washington Post had two photos of the march, but they covered the rally in Boston. WTF?! Also, the National Park Service reported that there were 500 people in attendance. You can see from my pics that this number is totally bogus. I think it was more like 5,000.

I don't know if it was the fire but the coverage was not what I would have liked. The protest was great and I was really excited to march and wave some signs around.

There were protests here in the UK too - there was barely a column about any of the protests in the paper yesterday. I don't think it was the fire rather ambivalence. This is the UK's most left-wing daily and the same paper that suggested we don't need Pride parades anymore because we 'have equal rights'. Note that we don't have marriage but Civil Partnerships because of the Church.

Next time we'll shout a little louder and keep going until they're deafened.
