Date w/Anne Hathaway raises $12,000 for Trevor Project

Postby Ben Varkentine » Wed Dec 10, 2008 5:49 pm

Anne Hathaway sells a date with her for $12,000 for charity

The Devil Wears Prada star...offered the night out as part of the Cracked Christmas fundraiser to aid the Trevor Project, which provides a crisis helpline for LGBT teens in Los Angeles.

Putting herself on the auction block, she explained: “I’m not usually very forward, but I thought if there was ever a crowd for me to do something like this, this is my crowd so I would like to auction myself off for drinks somewhere fabulous ...Tell me what I’m worth.”

As the price tag rose into five figures, Anne explained: “I’m blushing [but] wow, I feel really good right now.”

"this is my crowd."

Really, I can't say this too often: Anne Hathaway is reason enough to believe in god. She's pretty, she's talented...and her spirit is in the right place.

:sigh

Oh my.

You left out the best part:
I’m not usually very forward, but I thought if there was ever a crowd for me to do something like this, this is my crowd so I would like to auction myself off for drinks somewhere fabulous and basically get you totally s*** faced.

Where was I when this was happening?!? Not that I have twelve thousand dollars... But let it be known that Anne Hathaway can get me shit-faced any time she likes.

And yay for funding for the Trevor Project. Such a good cause.

In my blog yesterday I said
It's probably for the best that I didn't know about this in advance

Because if I had, I would've been hitting up my friends and relations to loan me a few hundred dollars each.

$12,000 sounds like a bargain.

Not one I could afford, but still.

Just thought I'd mention that Hathaway talked about this on the Leno show last night, including the charity and what it does.

And in other "Anne Hathaway is a gay-friendly goddess" news...

Ah bless her if only for the shit faced comment.:laugh I already really liked her in every single silly fluffy happy Disney movie and the only more serious one I´ve seen (Nicholas Nickleby, a really wonderful film). It is nice to know that a particular actor or actress is as pleasant in reality as they seem to be onscreen.

She was great in Rachel Getting Married last year; it's the film for which she's getting all the "award buzz."

I am hopelessly out of the loop when it comes to new movies since, oh say, the last 4 years or so. No time to pay attention which has led me to buy some awful duds on DVD when I did so on the spur of the moment. It helps to be a little prepared so I googled Rachel Getting Married and it sounds like a movie I could really enjoy, thanks for the tip Ben. I shall buy it when I can...
