A place ti discuss LGBT topics
(Don't think there's one of those topics yet...)
First up I wanna ask what other kittens think about this;
Next weekend there'll be a lecture on hatecrimes against lesbians (sadly I can't attend, any Dutchie on here wanna record it for me?) I got an email about this, saying that violence against lesbians is usually verbal, not physical, yada yada, and that verbal abuse is usually not reported to the police.
But then it goes on to state that remarks like "can I watch", "you just haven't met the right man yet" or "oh baby but I can be girly" are hatecrimes too (which it probably legally is over here indeed) and that those could/should be reported to the police too. An officer is comming to speak about that too.
Though these remarks are extremely annoying and inconsiderate, I really don't see any grounds to report em to the police unless the man is also physically threathening or verbally agressive. It might even make things worse for yourself or other GLBT peepz.
my opinion is that physical threats or agressive behaviour (wether it's verbal or physical) need police attention, but typical, inconsiderate mens comments? The police would like, be on that case forever, men just think with their willy and usually miss any tact, to every girl, not just lesbians.
What do other kittens think about this?
