My Orphan Year...

Postby pagnmickie » Fri Feb 19, 2010 6:43 am

Yes I know I am 41 but losing both of my parents in the past month has NOT been easy to take at any age. My Dad died Jan 15th and Mom just died on Valentines Day. She wanted to be with him. They were both very sick and now are happy together. But they were both SO young... 60 and 61.

I am sad.

Mickie - Wow. I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost my mom about 6 years ago but I couldn't really imagine losing both parents in that time frame. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It's all so surreal. I keep thinking of what will happen during holidays and what I'm going to do with a house full of stuff that no one has space for. Right now I'm just kind of numb.

I've never lost a parent or anyone I was close to so I can't even begin to imagine, but I'm so sorry for your loss.

MIckie - I've been thinking of you and your loss. And I'm totally an anti-stuff person and always telling people that they don't need a storage unit but you know what? You should have the time to grieve. So perhaps you should just get a storage unit for 6 months or a year and put the stuff there and not have to worry about it. Heck, I've had my mom's wedding and engagement ring for > 6 years now and I figure I'll think about it when I'm ready. I bet I haven't looked at it in 5 years. I have it insured and it's in my closet.

Do what you can handle and that's it.

Just my thoughts.

I´m really sorry for your loss, my dad lost his parents in a time frame like that and he´s still a mess even after 20 years...

Deepest condolences. There simply are not appropriate words to encompass the magnitude of such losses. I wish for you time to grieve and heal in as much peace as possible.
