WICKED

Hi everyone! I've searched here and have not found a thread for WICKED.

For anyone here who doesn't know what WICKED is, it's a novel by Gregory Maguire and also a musical. Both which I have yet to see. :sob

Anyway, it's about The Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba, before she became the Wicked Witch. From what I hear, the book is supposed to be really deep.

Elphaba ends up going to college and rooming with a very snobby girl who just so happens to be GASP Glinda (known as Galinda) After hating each other, the two become friends.

From the songs I've heard, there could definately be more than friendship. (Stupid people didn't do it though. They're both in love with a guy named Fieyro) I've heard that the book may also hint towards more than friend love. (one can only hope)

I've heard some music from the musical and it's fantastic! The songs are simply wonderful.

My chorus class is even singing one, For Good.

I highly recommend that if anyone has the resources and time, they get their butts over to New York and see it. And read the book.

I am now firmly a fan of the Elphaba/ Glinda couple. I've even found a few fanfics over at ff.net.

Being a huge fan of Kristin Chenoweth, I saw Wicked in San Francisco during previews. It was amazing. I highly recommend it, though the show may have suffered after the original cast left. I haven't read the book though. It's on my eventual to read list.

I'm not sure about Elphaba and G'linda as a couple, but I think they have a beautiful and complex friendship.

If you like Kristin Chenoweth check out her solo album. It is amazing. If you like Nobert Leo Butz get yourself a copy of The Last Five Years. It is one of my all time favorite musicals.
