Ask Any Question + Thread index

Postby urnofosiris » Sat Sep 20, 2003 6:05 am

Hey Kittens, this is the ask any questions thread for this forum. Here you can ask questions about a tv show, movie or actress etc. that don't not fit into an existing thread or warrant a thread of their own. You can check the links below to find a thread that can help you. If you can't find it, feel free to post a question in this thread. You can post about anything movie/tv related here, except Buffy/ME shows, as that is off topic everywhere on the kitten. We have a forum especially for Willow/Tara, Aly/Amber, Witches and Vixens be sure to visit! That is where you can find movies with Amber and Aly in them. There is a question thread with a table of thread links on that forum as well, so existing movie Amber/Aly threads should be easy to find. Lastly, if you have not done so yet, please read the FAQ as well.

As far as new shows go, would it be okay to start a thread for 'Joan of Arcadia'? It would probably fit into the fantasy category, and it's not preachy or Seventh Heaven-ish at all. My husband and I are about as un-religious as you can get (he's an atheist) and we both really enjoy it. Also, depending on whether 'Karen Sisco' stays on the air or not (it's in a terrible time slot, opposite 'Law & Order'), it might be an idea to start a thread for that show too - Carla Gugino is excellent in the leading role, and the pilot episode was pretty enjoyable.

Hi guys. I just wanna ask a really dorky question, 'cause I saw something that made me nearly fall off my chair laughing. Okay, has anybody heard of a comic or tv show or something called W.I.T.C.H.? I think it's a comic that's really popular in Europe and/or lots of other places other than the the U.S. 'cause I hadn't heard of it before. But I saw a picture of one of the characters and just started laughing. Check this out: www.disney.it/Publishing/...elcome.htm

I hope the link works. It's in... umm... Italian? But it has picture links so you'll see what's going on. But seriously, check out the character named Will and tell me who she looks like. I think the name _Will_ gives a good hint. *snickers* I dunno why, but this just tickled me and I thought I'd ask if anyone knows about this comic/cartoon/whatever it is. :lol

Oh I saw a comic of them when I was staying at a certain someone's house a few weeks ago and I took the liberty of browsing through it. You'll notice there is a character called Taranee who does not look like Tara, but Cornelia does. When I flicked open the comic to a random page I saw Will and Cornelia do a spell together and I was like wft? Then I looked further and they were both wanting the boys, ew, what a shock. That was just plain weird.

Yeah, when I saw an image from the thing posted somewhere, my eyes bugged out and I couldn't help but laugh. But it was kinda cool seeing little cartoon characters that sorta look like our girls. Too bad they like guys. That's no fun. :stink

I know, I know, it's a "Disney Italia" comic for teenage girls and since it came out (I think only three-four years ago, I'm not sure) I noticed the odd similarities...*hangs down head in shame*:blush

Does Anyone Remember That Show Where....

Postby SySnootles » Tue Mar 23, 2004 12:09 pm

I haven't seen a thread about this one, but I didn't want to risk it and start a new one on the board, so I thought I'd just put it in there.

In the early 2000s (maybe even in the late 1990s), at the very beginning of the reality show boom, there was this one reality show which was really more like a mystery, or Whodunnit show. It was set in Maine (I think), and there were kidnappings (and I think maybe a murder). There were contestants who were the detectives, and one was voted off every week, but one suspect was also cleared every week. The winner was a New York City firefighter named Angel who was killed (or presumed killed... last I heard he was still missing weeks after the 9-11 attack) in the WTC attack.

Does anyone know the name of this particular show? I have no idea how to find it (imdb.com is only so helpful if you don't know the name of the thing you're looking for, or don't know any of the actors), and it's been bugging me for about two years now!! I've finally cracked!!

Thanks in Advance!

Hey Catie, I know this is a little late, but I came across an article on Angel Juarbe, Jr., the winner of the Murder in Small Town X show, that I thought you might be interested in. You can find it here.

I remember that show, because I started watching it, but unfortunately it was aired opposite The Mole 2, which was one of the best reality shows ever, so I only watched a few episodes. I do remember hearing that the winner had been killed in the WTC attack, though.

Oxygen's New Friday Lineup

I'm asking because it's really hard to tell which show it's from, and I can't seem to find much info on any of the shows.

'kay, sat through the 3 new shows.

Good Girls Don't was painful in the extreme (i.e. unfunny). As far as f/f goes, it seems the somewhat plump blonde chick may have a thing for her skinny friend ("Are we gonna kiss now?" "I wish you'd stop asking me that". A similar preview on next week's show, too. :happy )

Show Me Yours was better. The female lead (I missed the start; didn't get the actress' name. Her character, an author, is named Kate) is genuinely hot. The plot looks to be way too much based on a battle of the sexes stereotype. No f/f that I could see, but since all these shows revolve around sex, I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up (but if w/ the lead, only temporarily, since her love/lust object is obviously gonna be her intellectual sparring partner).

Naked Josh: handsome young professor whose intellectual understanding of sex doesn't help his real (complicated) love/lust life (that's the plot). However, I think that scene of f/f kissing was from this show (just not the first ep), because there's a "lesbian pal" (an African-Am . . . um, African-Canadian bartender. I think that both Naked Josh and Show Me Yours are filmed in Canada): she's one of the women seen kissing. I think.

If I'm not doing anything better on a Friday night, I might tune in again to SMY and NJ.

GG God forbid GG's own personal life revolve around sex on a Friday night . . . :sigh Out

I completely agree with Gatito Grande about GGD and NJ. The only thing that I don't like about SMY is the main guy, I just find him really annoying.

I can definitely say that I'll be watching Naked Josh, and not just because of the cute bartender. :)

Oh and it was good to see Alberta Watson again.

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to remember the name of a corny lesbian movie that I had seen a long time ago.

It starred a female teacher, married mother of two, who ended up falling in love with the female gym teacher. The gym teacher had two turtles. They ended up getting married in the end of the movie.

If any of you smart kittens can remember the name of this movie, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Talk about lesbian celebs?

Postby Gatito Grande » Sat Sep 25, 2004 1:22 pm

Brian's little newsblurb about Cynthia Nixon joining our team (on the TV/Movie Discussion Thread) made me think about the subject of . . . well, gossip.

Would it be OK to discuss the Real Lives of lesbian (and bi women) celebrities? Or is that too gossipy for the Kitten?

I tend to be a little leery of gossip (though when I have the chance to read The Village Voice, I always turn to Michael Musto! ;) ): it can be so sleezy, and depersonalizing (as if because it's the divorce of a celebrity, there's not real human pain involved).

At the same time, what can I say? Especially when it comes to the relatively-few celebrities who are out lesbians (for that matter, I guess there's no reason gay/bi male celebs couldn't be discussed in such a thread, too), it seems only natural to take a personal interest in their lives: how are Rosie and Kelly doing? Who's Ellen dating now? Are Melissa and Tammy Lynn having kids? What's Amanda Bearse up to lately? [Is Portia de Rossi really gay, or just a little nuts? (That's kinda the way she strikes me, though she looked great at the Emmys! :p )] Is Helen Hunt playing on our team again? Is Jodie ever going to come out? And just who is the lucky woman dating Cynthia Nixon? :heart *

GG Stop me (or get me a thread!) before I gossip again! :blush Out

*And then there are those persistent rumors about the junior Senator from New York . . . :sh

Showtime's stupid restrictions! Ridiculous. What's the point of a website the vast majority of the world can't access?

Anyway, other folks outside the US use things like these to see http://www.sho.com:

webwarper.net/

proxify.com/

www.anonymizer.com/

www.the-cloak.com/anonymo...-home.html

Since I'm in the US, I don't know for sure which of those (if any) will work for you, but if none of them do, please post again and maybe someone from outside the US can let you know what's worked for them.

Cable vs. Satellite

Postby sheila wt » Tue Jul 12, 2005 5:40 pm

We've been thinking about changing from cable to DISH or DirecTV. There are some good deals out there and cable is just getting way too expensive!

Can somebody give me some advice about these services? Which one you think is better? In case you have one of them, how's your experience with it? I saw that Wall-Mart and Best Buy sell DirecTV, so you have to do the installation yourself?? In case of problems, do they have people come to your house to fix it like the cable company does? I had cable all my life so I have no clue about the rest...

DISH seems to be cheaper, but DirecTV has better channels (like LOGO and ESPNU, both of which I'm dying to have!).

Any help will be greatly appreciated! :-D

I would definitely recommend the change. I enjoy my DirecTV very much. I am really enjoying LOGO. I'm just so hyped to have an all Gay channel. It's about as good as watching an episode of Queer As Folk. I'm highly disappointed that I haven't seen any Melissa Etheridge yet though. :happy They keep teasing me when they show her on the commercials.

Anyway...

I would recommend DirecTV. Hope that helps somewhat.

I would check out http://www.directv.com If you ever have a problem, you just call them and they send someone out to fix it. It can take a little bit for them to get there, like it does with anything else you need fixed. I would definitely buy from them though. They will come out themselves and install the system for you and if you ever move, they will install it for free in your new house.

Good luck.

I'd recommend DirecTV as well. I've had it about 2 years and haven't had any problems, except an occasional outage, but that's been rare. Logo is pretty cool. Another queer channel available is Here, but there's an additional charge to get that.
You might want to check out if there are any special deals going on before you "take the plunge."
Just my two cents.
