I just have to say I love Jodhi May! And I thought Jennifer Carpenter was fantastic in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." I hope to see more of her.

Would Simone Lahbib count as obscure? She played Helen Stewart in the UK tv drama 'Bad Girls' I haven't really seen her in anything else though... hmm..

Candleshoe I liked the nice girlfriend on the Braithwaites. The other one was just damn awful! But Sarah Smart :drool

Well, I read the hole thread and I think some of the former obcure actresses are not so obscure anymore.

Keira Knightley, Kate Beckinsale, Emily de Ravin, Mischa Barton, for example.

Very interesting!

My definition of obscure is, when a) nobody I ask has ever heard of the actress or b) they are only associated with ONE role they played (Amber Benson for example).

Here are mine:

Catherina Scorsone

Amber Benson

Renne O'Connor

Jemima Rooper

Julia Wheelan

Christina Cole

Pauley Perette

That's all for now. I'm pretty sure there are more!

Yeah, those actresses can hardly be called obscure anymore! Which is awesome, they've worked hard.
One of my favorite semi-obscure actresses is Melinda Clarke. The role I know her from is Lady Heather, on CSI. She plays the most intriguing character, and she plays her so well!!!
And there will always be Amber, until she finally gets recognized that is.
Rachel Nichols-on Alias season 5
Lena Olin-somehow very few people even know who she is!!
Amy Acker
Jacinda Barrett
I love Rachel Weisz but she's not obscure anymore. She's finally getting some attention and awards!!

Sheridan Smith, I believe she plays Janet in the British comedy 'two pints of lager and a packet of crisps'

She's yum.

Oooo, yes Mandana Jones, I was too busy thinking about Simone Lahbib that she escaped my mind. :blush

Ahh, my fantasy woman: blonde hair, leather, bikes, attitude, mmmm...

She was the only reason I watched Neighbours as long as I did...(and Skye...especially when it looked like she might be one of us!)

I can't believe Ms Bonner is married with kids - the vision of her on that bike was just incredible. :x

Slightly embarrassed by the fact that I love Jackie Woodburne too. Once heard a rumour about her, but this is the wrong thread for that kind of thing....

Did you watch Family Affairs? How about Tina Landini - she is possibly the most obscure actress in the world! She played Susie, Holly's girlfriend before the Great Canal Boat Fire. Or Nicky Talacko, who was Kelly, Karen's girlfriend before she got pushed down the stairs by Karen's awful husband, whose name I can't recall.

They were the good ol' days....and I was always so impressed with Family Affairs, there was always an LGBT character, right the way through its 8 year run.

Ah yes, skye, I remember her, although I prefered the girl she had the 'thing' with. Actresses name Bridget Neval.

As for Jackie Woodburne, well, yes.... I would be embarressed too :lol

I never watched family affairs, but I do know Tina Landini, she's only had one or two tv appearences so yes, she's probably the most obscure actress in the world lol I try my hardest to stay away from soaps though, but every now and then someone worth watching comes along.

How about Abi Tucker? She's certainly obscure and very telented.(not to mention pretty)

And Sibylla Budd oh how I love her mouth and smile.

(I can imagine you googling these names, which, btw, is cheating!)

I'd like to point out that I did not google either of those two, as I have just finished watching all four seasons of the Secret Life of Us - so Ha!

Whatever happened to Jennifer Grey? I loved Dirty Dancing...someone could put Baby in my corner any day!

edited so it made sense - duh!

I loved The Secret Life Of Us it was a really great show, but it didn't last as long as I would have liked.

I think Jennifer Grey went into hiding after her obvious and very disastrous nose job!

Well, on the topic of Australian actresses, I have to say Melissa George, (she is obscure right?) I adored her so much when she was in Home & Away that I wanted to be her. :x

& also, Kelly Adams, who plays Mickie in Holby City - she's lovely.

Melissa George is getting less obscure, thankfully! She was fantastic in both Derailed and the truly terrifying Amityville remake.

I always liked Isla Fisher. Especially when they had the storyline about her falling for her female college tutor. In fact, come to think of it, didn't they leave to go live together in England in lesbian bliss? I'm sure I remember being very excited at the time...

Oooo yes, wasn't Gigi Edgley in farscape also? I think she's done a couple of TV appearences, but not many.

Melissa George is definitely getting less obscure, but that's a good thing because she's very talented and deserves the attention.

Isla Fisher's charecter storyline rings a bell, but I remember her more for her disastrous relationship with Darren Day. I think I read somewhere that she is bisexual, but wrong thread for that.

How about Alicia Witt has she been mentioned? I used to love her in 'Cybil'

I know that Isla is shacked up with Ali G, but hadn't heard the other rumour. I did some googling and discovered an interview where she uses the phrase "I'm not gay at all, but I find women of all ages beautiful". Make of that what you will. Denial is not just a river in Egypt, that's all I'm saying...

Wasn't Alicia Witt in Ally McBeal for a bit too? Towards the end when it was all going downhill quite fast? Portia always eclipsed everyone else in that show, for me!

Is Lauren Ambrose obscure enough for this thread?

Sydsvenska Dagbladet (swedish newspaper):
The Australian actress Isla Fisher from the TV-soap 'Home and Away' caused a big scandal when it came up that she had been with another woman.
Isla said in an interview that "it was something I wanted to try."

Nope, denial certainly isn't just a river in Egypt :lol

Ahh Lauren Ambrose, there's a redhead theme going on here. I haven't seen her in anything since six feet under, although she is appearing in a few upcoming movies, is it me or does she hold a slight resemblance to Thora Birch? I used to get them mixed up. :blush

Kaley Cuoco? although her obscurity will probably change dramtically with her appearance in charmed.

Vinessa Shaw, I used to watch Hocus Pocus over and over when I was younger thinking I liked the movie....

To my shame I had to google those two. I love Hocus Pocus, but more for Sandra Bullock. My ex loves her too - I had fun buying the signed half-naked photo of her at Christmas!.

I'm such a celebrity whore that I am running out of obscure actresses - I always liked Chloe Sevigny, especially in If These Walls Could Talk II. Is she obscure enough? Her career seems to be going backwards rather than forward though - perhaps I am not watching the right films?

Oh, and Radha Mitchell - I first loved her in Neighbours, and now she keeps popping up all over the place.

Oh, and did we mention Kym Valentine ? I liiike her....

Bahar Soomekh was amazing in Crash. Yes, I did like that movie. And she's so breathtakingly gorgeous. Just thinking about her, wow! :shock

and Catalina Sandino Moreno from Maria Full of Grace. Great movie, great acting. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. It's worth it.

Since there seem to be a lot of British actresses on this thread (Ah, the Obscure Little Isle! :lol), let me add another: Emily Blunt.

I saw her on BBC America last night, in a movie called Gideon's Daughter (she played . . . Gideon's daughter!), and she has the most hypnotic bedroom eyes (y'know the kind w/ the heavy lids?). I knew I'd seen her before, so I IMDb'd her: I think it was in Henry VIII (she played the unfortunate Catherine Howard, who was the flirty young thing who lost her head :yikes).

She also played gay (?) in My Summer of Love . . . but unfortunately I haven't seen that yet (here in the wilds of Michigan :rolleyes).

Anyway, she's quite a dish: full, erotic lips to go w/ Them Thar Eyes!

GG For fans of Alicia Witt---I loved her on "Cybill", too---she's appearing this week on a Sci Fi miniseries called Dark Kingdom . . . along w/ Out, Loud and Proud Kristanna Lokken! {sp?} (Although, I don't think, um, "together" :eyebrow) Out

Indeed - but with a higher-than-average cuteness rating amongst our women folk....and more obscure actresses per square foot, clearly.

My Summer of Love is a rather odd little film about two girls (Emily Blunt and Nathalie Press, whom I preferred) who... well, do what it says on the cover. There is an element of Christian-bashing, with which I wasn't entirely comfortable, and a rather disappointing ending. This isn't the right place for an in-depth analysis, but just don't say I didn't warn you when it sets your alarm bells ringing....

Going back to Tina Landini - you can catch her in the blink-and-you'll miss it opening sequence of Neil Marshall's raher fantastic film Dog Soldiers. Not that I was a fan when she was in Family Affairs, noooo........... I was a student, it was daytime TV what can I say?

Jordana Brewster

Sara Foster (who's actually pretty good)

Jodhi May

Karina Lombard (is she still considered obscure?)

there's more but i can't get their names out of my brain at the moment... it's in there somewhere
