I looked for a thread about The Closer and I was surprised that there wasn't one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. I think that in its second season, Kyra Sedgewick is hitting home runs with the comic timing and her expressions, and the funny thing is this show is a drama, not a comedy.
Also, I think the cast is really jelling - we're getting to see more and more of the characters without necessarily going into "character-focused episodes," which sometimes bug me, but they're all really playing well against each other and the interactions are believeable and they have chemistry.
I also really appreciate how in the first season they had the squad not really trusting Brenda and picking on her, but now in the second season they all seem to trust her and respect her and they're moving on to other facets of their working as a team. It would have been so easy to continue with the whole woman/outsider thing, but it's much more interesting this way. They're not beating a dead horse or anything.
And I also love the relationship between Brenda and Fritz - they also have chemistry, and he's such a perfect match for her. I loved the whole two-episode arc with Brenda's mom visiting and how he interacted with her.
All in all it's a great show and really distinguishes itself from other crime dramas, I find. Anyone else?
