Favourite movies...mmm ..here goes

Mouline rouge - just love the splendour of it all. Fun movie.

Once upon a time in china - jet Li - best choreographed fight scenes ever. Matrix is nothing compare to this and it was made at least 5 years before matrix. The tory aint that bad either.

Dune - I know lots of people hate this movie but the weirdness of it works for me in a science fiction setting.

Its a wonderful life - yeap..that old christmas fav. The scene where James steward is on the phone whilst trying to resist kissing that girl (forgot her name?) is the best.

Godfather 1 and 2

Lotr 1 and 2 and probably 3

Fried green tomatoes - laugh ..laugh..sob sob...tissues please.

Well thats all for now...

We should have a thread for favourite scenes in a movie. I tend to remember scenes better when I am trying to think of a film.

Take care all

Okay, the movie pretty much sucked, but Amber was great!! :bow I've added this to my list only because of the Amber stuff.

Last night I watched This Years Love, It has been a while since I last saw it & I had forgotten just how much I loved this film. Mind you I pretty much like anything Kathy Burke is in.

I would like to be with Kylie, I think she's really, really hot. I wonder if I can get Kylie to want to do it with Madonna?

Hedwig and the angry inch

Postby Boomstick79 » Thu May 15, 2003 4:35 pm

Evening all,

Just finished watching DVD of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and I have to say I thought it was bloody marvellous :bow

Quite a different storyline from the usual mainstream fare (botched sex change survivor Hedwig marries an American GI, escapes East Berlin, forges rock partnership with young male lover - he nips off steals her songs and releases them as his own - she is out for acknowledgement and justice) but it is excellent. Songs are very moving and apt (it's kinda told as a road story/musical), the main performance from writer/director John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig is outstanding and I just really, really liked this movie. Uplifting and heartwarming - a real class act just like Hedwig herself :cool Plus the missus liked it too so it can't be bad :grin

Recommended.

Muriel's Wedding

Postby Nation » Mon May 26, 2003 3:19 pm

I haven't read through this entire thread, so I apologize if this has already been mentioned.....but "Muriel's Wedding" is one of my favorite all time films. The whole thing is hilarious, the soundtrack is fabulous and Toni Collette does a great job portraying Muriel. That plus the fact that she gained how much weight for the role? I want to say 30+lbs. but maybe even more than that. Many actresses would never dream of GAINING weight for a role, but Collette did it and she still shined as main character. Great film, very funny, always a good view!

Wrong Turn

Postby Domaris » Wed Jun 04, 2003 9:43 pm

OMG, I'm just back from the cinema, where I watched Wrong Turn with a friend. Let me tell you I've never laughed like this since a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time! This movie is a total JOKE and the fact that the actors, well except the two principals, were so bad just makes me love it. Why? Because I've always had something for crappy thrillers :p The weird creatures almost made me pee in my pants (with their little giggles, gNihihihahehahhhihihihighihihi! :rofl ). As predictable as a morning at church eheh.

Good points:

-Eliza (Dushku)'s breasts :drool

-Eliza's performance (yeah.. I managed to notice.. What can I say? There were some scenes where I couldn't see her breasts..!)

-Some real suspense

-The funny creatures (who run like little girls btw :rofl )

-All the blood :p

-No hero smoochies :lol

-The annoying guy DIES! YEAH!

Bad points:

-Well.. it's still a crappy thriller! :lol

Hee... I haven't seen this yet, but I'm going to this weekend! :grin I found out one other good thing about Eliza's performance that's making me want to see this more, but I can't tell you what it is.

Well Isa, I watched Soul Survivor mainly for Eliza and boy, did I regret it. I simply cannot understand why she chooses to make clunkers like this when she's a decent actress. I mean...sigh....anyhoo, this is another movie I'll add to my long list of going to see just for the hot girls.

You're right. Tho I didn't really went to see that movie ONLY for Eliza. I mean, I totally love those crappy thrillers. They're funny but in the same times sometimes you can't stop yourself from jump and yell. And *usually* the actors are so bad :lol . So maybe I should rent Soul Survivors! :p

And don't worry, you're not superficial. I mean, because you like good-looking woman doesn't mean you choose them for their beauty instead of their personnality :p I buy clothes for their comfort and quality instead of their look! :rofl

Ooh Ruth darling, Taboo WAS VERY funny! :lol I mean, except for Amber, everything about this movie was beyond crap rofl!:p But you know, Wrong Turn was even funnier imho :wink I tell you, you HAVE to see this movie, even if it's only for the weird creatures. They run like little girls and giggle.. And somewhere in the movie Eliza's on her back on a tree.. and there's one of the creatures above her, doing a poke move with his sharp stick or knife or whatever and doing this SOUND! it's like.. fwitfwitfwit LMFAO! I swear I almost peed in my pants ahahaha.

Lost & delirious...Piper Perabo:drool Rage more... and I will make me a willow cabin at your gate and call upon my soul...I rush into the secret house:) Those words have incredibly meaning for me.i keep them deep into my heart.

GIA Gia Carangi: Where's my knife? Who took my fucking knife? What do I look like, fucking terrorist?! Is this funny? What the fuck is WRONG with you people?! Where the fuck- get the fuck away from me! GET AWAY! WHERE IS MY KNIFE?! *crying* God, you can't... you can't do that! You don't take somebody's knife when they need it!

Gia Carangi: Where are you going?

Linda: You don't have any clothes on.

Gia Carangi: Don't change the subject.

Girl Interrupted Angelina and Winona Ryder:rofl

Bound Boyish and girlish...Something more to be happy?:wink

Three colours (white; red;blue) Christopher Kieœlowski's movies...very good, with J.Binoche and I.Jacob ; deep, sensitive and touching ; about things we know but we are afraid to take

I really liked "Lost & Delirious" until the end. I kept hoping the falcon flying free would reflect her own trip to Toronto to find true love rather than what actually happened whis was what I expected to happen. "Bound" is a fabulous movie with alot of the qualities I loved in the Wachowski bros later film "The Matrix" and some hot scenes between the 2 women as well as pretty much love and lust at first sire. Loved the ending as it was completeley unexpected (to me anyhoo). Another film I liked was "Wild Side" which also had an ending that surprised me and Joan Chen. I'm just a silly romantic and love having love conquer all.

I agree that Lost and Delirious was pretty good. The poetry scenes got a little sappy, but then again I'm not much of a fan of poetry. I was hoping that at the end Tory would change her mind and go back to Paulie.....but I guess they were going for drama over romance (does anyone know how this story diverges from the book? I know the book has a different ending, but are all of the characters the same as well?) Regardless, it was a good movie and I thought Piper Perabo vindicated her acting career (after Coyote Ugly hehehe) and Jessica Pare was great as well. I saw Mischa Barton in a commercial during the MTV Movie Awards, hardly recognized her she's grown up so much, but she looked great. Well, that's my two cents....

DUDE... you forgot to mention that there were some killer shots of Eliza's butt! :drool YUM! Hee... the breast shots were nice, too.

And you were right... she's totally sexy when she is scared! :thud And when she was holding the crossbow towards the end, I couldn't help but think about Faith. Gotta love it!

*sniff* I totally wanted to give her a hug when she was talking about her b/f dumping her and her friends being killed. That was soo sad!

What's funny? This movie kinda reminded me of an X-Files episode from Season 4. It was called, "Home," I believe.

I so want to see this at least one more time. And Elizatummy... :thud Damn, I love her! :heart

Wheeew... Okay. Today was one of the best days I've had in a long time. I so have to buy this when it comes out on DVD.

the book that Lost and Delirious was based on was a bunch different. The character Paulie was mentally unstable and that's an understatement and the character played by Mischa Burton actually had a hump on her back. Way different. Back when I read it I wondered seriously how did they make the movie out of it.

Wrong Turn?

So, is this worth seeing just for Eliza-Ogling or is it worth seeing anyway?

Kind of like Taboo is worth seeing for Amber, but pretty much sucks hugely otherwise?

Well, IMHO... I think it's worth seeing, just to see it. Eliza was just the added bonus for me.

I thought it was a really good movie, but then that's just my opinion. If you like thriller-horror movies, then I would tell you to definitely go see it. If blood makes you weak or want to be sick, then don't see it.

I'm going to go see it again, if that helps you decide easier! ;)
