:hmm well, i think the movie had too many dark scenes, by dark i mean dark like in the movie "seven", where you also couldn't see anything sometimes, cause of the darkness.

That's just depressing.

Well, hence the name of the movie...lol. And it really didn't scare me at all. I was just waiting and waiting for an uh-hu moment...but nada.

After seeing "the ring" i guess i'm kinda spoiled.

THAT one scared me for weeks. *shudder*

Ah the topic of bad Oirish accents - one of my favourite gripes!

Other bad imitations of the lovely accents to be found in my homeland are Tom Cruise in "Far and Away". Julia Roberts is guilty again for the film "Michael Collins". Oh, and lately there's a programme on tv being advertised that has Anna Friel doing a truly bad accent, every time I see the ad I have to mute it.

And in defence of Liam Neeson's bad Scottish accent, maybe he was getting revenge for Sean Connery's attempt in "Darby O'Gill and the little people".

I'd forgotten that one, that was a truly bad accent. My last post could been more speficic though, I tend to have a general loathing of all films with Julia Roberts

Oh the FUNNIEST and MOST PITIFUL accent prize to date goes to:

Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery in Highlander! Lambert was woefully ineffective and unimpressing portraying a Scot and I don't know who the hell thought that having Sean Connery playing a Spaniard of all bloody things was a bright idea. Connery couldn't hide his brogue and Lambert just plain sucked.

I am sure it sounded perfectly sensible at the time when they decided to cast a Frenchman as a Scot and a Scot as a Spaniard. :rolleyes

I really liked Highlander but the end of that movie really should have been the end.

All this talk about accents that I never get hear because of the German dubbing. Probably wouldn't be able to tell one accent from another anyway. Heh.

mollyig, you mentioned Tom Cruise in Far and Away. What about Nicole Kidman? I presume she also used an Irish accent.

Garfield: Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Highlander but I had to admit, the casting was a bit....well odd :shock I agree though. That one really should've been the end of it.

Diebrock:Nicole Kidman as an Australian, IMHO, had more of a chance pulling off a decent Irish accent than Tom Cruise (who is a highly overrated actor in my book). She's got loads of talent and seems to be a virtual chameleon when it comes to accents.

My problem is that I am a big old softy who is sometimes way to generous when it comes to other peoples creative efforts like movies, TV and books etc. After much head scratching trying to think of movies that I hate I have come up with the following:

The Others - I waited to see this on DVD and I didn't even make it 20 minutes before my girlfriend and I looked at each other and went "what the . . . ." before turning it off. I think Nicole Kidman is a great actress but for some reason this movie just didn't do it for me at all.

Nearly everything with Kevin Costner in it. I didn't even make it through all of The Postman (hope I got the name right) and I think Dances with Wolves was a bit too long and boring.

Mission Impossible 2 - yawn!!

Evita - another yawn, plus I'm not a huge fan of Madonna's acting.

A.I. - another yawn, way too long and can someone tell me, did this movie actually have a plot/point.

Alien Resurrection - I loved the other Alien movies but this one just left me cold. Joss I want my money back pal!

I'm sure there are a few more that I can add but I just can't think of them right now.

Hmmm,

OK having missed out on this thread, and having just seen a TV trailer for S-club :( , I feel it's time to add my cinematic no-no's :no

S-Club:Seeing Double- Top of the list because it is my most recent addition to the "never again unless I am restrained, drunk and bribed" list of films. Truly awful - apologies to fans out there :whistle

Bounce - I liked Opposite of Sex which was written by Don Roos who went on to write this pile of poop, so I checked out Bounce ('starring' Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow) and frankly, like Captain Blackadder, I would rather have my tongue beaten wafer thin by a steak tenderiser and then stapled to the floor with a croquet hoop than watch this again :sob It was pants! And not in a nice sexy lingerie type way!

Antitrust - Peter Howitt, you will always be Joey from Bread, stop trying to direct films and be Alfred Hitchcock with 'surprise' cameos. Sliding Doors was passable (John Hannah saves the day again), Johnny English I have yet to endure, but Antitrust - Noooooo! What did you do to Tim Robbins??

Cruel Intentions 2 - My mate Andy made me watch it - I just want to hurt Amy Smart and take away any film career she may have (as for Cousin Beth pshaw!) - I'm sorry but ew bad bad film :happy

Strangeland - Low budget horror that came out a few years ago starring Dee Snider from the band Twisted Sister as Captain Howdy (what kinda evil name is that??) as an Internet based serial kiler - weird visuals, dodgy SM devices used to kill and a truly gross scene of a women with her mouth sewn shut trying to scream and ripping her lips open - horrible horrible visuals, and I have never forgiven my mate Stu for suggesting I would enjoy it :cry Oh by the way, I am a big wuss when it comes to horror films :blush

Halloween - As a film it is quite a good movie, well shot considering the budgetary constraints, suspenseful and possesses a true cinematic icon of evil in Michael Myers. However, as I watched it at university, and began to learn the psychology behind horror films (check out Carol Clover's essay The Final Girl - damn fine read) and just generally watch more and more of them, I came to loathe Halloween, in that it is the one film with the true power to terrify me! :sob I can't hear the theme without freezing - it makes my skin crawl and i hate it hate it hate it! Also have a thing for masks , and the white face gives me chills - yes yes I am a big wuss but I don't care dammit!

IT - Pennywise - clowns - nuff said :|

There are many many more films that I can't stand, but the thought of clowns and graveyards has now put me off compiling my list for a bit :stink

Off to think happy thoughts now - where's my Matrix DVD gone? Oh Trinity....... :grin

From the mouth of a wonderfully "Oirish" Kitten herself....love your smiley, Molls.

Well now that I've been hanging around this thread bugging everyone, I guess I need to own up to the ridiculous stack of movies I totally despise, loathe and just plain hate:

ANY and ALL "blaxploitation" movie ever made. They all turn my stomach, really and truly (i.e. Friday, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka and really crappy ones like that.)

Slash movies with all gore and no plot (well except for the Evil Dead movies. I love Bruce Campbell)

Signs: Mel Gibson could've SO done better even though Joaquin Phoenix cracked me up.

Any Austin Powers Movie: :puke Nuff said.

Mr. Deeds: An hour and fifteen minutes of my life that I really would like back.

Most movies with Tom Cruise, Al Pacino, Richard Gere, Ben Affleck or Christopher Lambert in it.

Really sappy sickly sweet romance movies. I really can't take them.

Panic Room: I was totally disappointed in Jodi Foster in this one.

Queen of the Damned: Ew. EW! What the HELL was Anne Rice thinking consenting to this piece of total trash? :shock

Enough: Enough said. *blech*

Star Trek: Nemesis: I was so disappointed that I cried at the end of the movie that I wasted my time.

ANY movie with Steven Seagal in it.

I know that I have a huge list. I'll have to sift through it :grin

It's a terrible film with actors who seem to think that fantasy is the same as pantomime (Jeremy Irons hang your head in shame)

LOL Justin...I really did try hard to erase that hideous movie from my memory. I want my money back and that film removed from my brain. What was pitiful was even as a thief/scout, the lead actor had pathetic skills and the female mage wannabe would've been FAR more powerful than she was in the film. Even a first level mage can do better than her. Really it was no contest. Jeremy Irons probably would've been a high level mage and the party that went up against him would've SO been toast in any real AD&D adventure. Diana whapped me hard on the arm several times for forcing her to endure the torture. I'm still paying for it :cry

Hmm? My least favorite movie has got to be, "The Messenger." Halfway through it and after way too much of Milla Jovovich's screeching and screaming (take an acting class Milla), I popped the movie out went back to the video store and picked up "Joan of Arc" with Ingrid Bergman.

Other noteworthy mentions:

The Ring - God this sucked!

The Blair Witch Project - These must have been the stupidest people on the planet.

Tomb Raider - I love Angelina, but this movie blew chunks!

The Godfather, Part III - I'll never forgive Sofia Coppola for single-handedly ruining this film. She should stick to writing and directing.

A group of guys walk into a building...they are at the top of their game...and then, just as they got it, they loose it, and leave the movie in a horrible suspense for a few days...

No, it isnt a bad movie, it's the Wilds/Canucks series!!!!!

I HAVE to bitch about the freeking Vancouver Canucks!!!!

We (as in they) had the series in the bag and then it's like they said "Hey, we've had a great 4 games, why not screw 2 and then leave it up in the air about winning".

I mean, really, 'Nucks, PULL IT TOGETHER IN THE LAST GAME!

Okay, rant done...anyone else feel the same?

At least Ottawa has been able to pull things together.

I mean, really, Canucks, you can do this, dont be like a certian show and blow it in the last few!!!!!!

It was as bad as watching Scary Movie 2 or Not Another Teen Movie...and like Scary Movie, it had a great original "script" that then went into total decay!I just hope the last "sequal" ends well!

Bad bad movie

Postby WillowSpiritus » Thu May 08, 2003 2:35 pm

I love movies and there are really few that i have trouble watching till the end. There is just this one that just jumped right in my head when i saw this thread. I cant really explain but it was just all bad bad bad. It is Serial killer mom and i hate it. Just wrong all over. Normally i can like freaky movies or a dark theme but this was just weird and no good. Another movie that i dont like but for another reason is Hellraiser. I was being brave and watched it with friends but i was awake and affraid all night! I wont be watching part 2, 3, 4, 5 or how many parts there are from that nightmare flick. But at number one with a big lead to every movie that i have seen is Serial Killer Mom. Just wrong.

I've just read this thread from start from finish, and I was laughing my ass off at the fact that i have seen almost all of the movies that everyone has written down. Now I'm wondering exactly how many hours of my life I have wasted...

My picks...

Requiem For A Dream- This is in my opinion the most horrible movie ever made, mostly because I have seen the effects of drug use on people that I love, and I cried right through the entire movie, and felt on edge and depressed for a week afterwards. DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE.

Blair Witch Project- I spent the entire movie wondering why the hell they didn't just climb a tall tree so they could see where they were. Really frustrating.

Freddie Got Fingered- Look up the word 'Cack' in a dictionary, and this movie will be listed there. That guy is just a pillock, and none of the jokes are funny. I almost threw up watching a few scenes. In fact, if I saw Ton Green on the street, I'd kick him in the nay- nays, then drag his skinny ass into a cellar and force him to watch his movie over and over again, until he snapped. And then I'd make him watch it once more.

My picks for the worst movies probably would be:

Blair Witch Project- This whole movie I found myself yelling at how many bad choices the cast made. I felt they should have stuck together or made a fire for rescue or something.

Magnolia- I found myself watching longer than I should have only to find an ending. It went on way to long to get the whole of the story.

Animal abuse! HATE IT!!!

Postby Gatito Grande » Tue Jun 24, 2003 12:52 am

I abhor this w/ a purple passion: I sit down to watch some movie that "is supposed to be good", and then some animal (usually domestic) is killed right in front of me . . . and I'm supposed to forget this? Go "Ha Ha"?! F*ck No I can't! :rage

Two recent examples I saw: one an older Russian film, a bio of my favorite iconographer Andrei Rublev. Dogs killed, horses killed! It's a laugh a minute! :angry (and because it's old and Russian, I have no reason to be sure that "no animals were harmed . . . ")

And then, just tonight, I decided to watch a flick I taped a few months back, Wonder Boys. Let's laugh at the blind dog, "Poe". Hey, better yet, let's shoot the blind dog dead, and then dump him in the trunk of a car . . . and then jam luggage on top of him . . . and then stick him in Tobey Maguire's bed! Isn't this just hysterically funny? Aren't you just laughing your ass off at the funny dead dog?! :rage

What is wrong w/ these mother-f*ckers, that they think that the killing of an animal is freakin' entertainment? So help me, I don't want to see another Michael Douglas-Tobey Maguire-Frances McDormand-Robert Downey Jr. - or Katie Holms (and she's freakin' adorable!) flick again over this! (And that *ss-wipe director, Curtis Hanson? Fuhgeddaboutit! :angry ) I know Tobey's in this horse-race flick coming out, Seabiscuit, but how the hell is that gonna turn out? W/ lots of hysterical shoot-the-lame-horse scenes?

GG Next thing you know, these c*ck-suckers are gonna want to shoot lesbians for a laugh :mad Out
