It's great to see the network support a quality show. Even if it ends up going off the air because of ratings, you can't say they didn't try. "Veronica Mars" certainly deserves the chance to find it's audience. Good on Viacom.

First off G, lol at the Matthew Fox comments. Even the Emmy noms didn't make that mistake. I'm very happy that VM and Bell got their nominations, but still disappointed that they didn't get any Emmy recognition. I actually think Bell might have a chance at this award, although Hugh Laurie is probably a safer bet. And I notice there is a release date for the first season dvd's, but they aren't out until October 11. I was really hoping for early September. The show is nearly through the run it got here on CTV, not sure how it's been doing. Good news about the CBS boost, let's hope it does some good.

Just a reminder in case anyone has forgotten, the second season premiere is on September 28. Early word is that it's wonderful, every bit as good as the best ep's of the initial season. Can't wait. Oh, and did anyone else watch Kristen sing at the Emmy's? I thought she was great, can't believe that Green Acres horror got more votes.

Rob Thomas said she was signed to do it, so I'd say that is pretty definite. He wants to try and get her and Charisma to do a scene together, which would be great.

I found out some other casting news that is truly horrible when I was researching this, but we can discuss that somewhere else on the board. Let's just say there may be one episode of VW this season that I might have to watch with my fingers over my eyes.

What Seurat just said can serve as a reminder and warning, let´s leave it at that though, if anyone wants to know more about what the casting news refers to, you need to google it. Some things and persons remain off topic no matter what show they pop up in (I´m obviously not referring to Charisma btw). This is just a reminder beforehand so hopefully no one´ll be tempted to post about it. :eyebrow
There will hopefully be enough goodness to discuss about this show. I look forward to the first episode and I do hope Aly will appear again on this show, but only if they do more with her part and character than they did last year. That felt like something of a missed opportunity to me.

Aly will be back on Veronica Mars:

Link

NEWS POSTED SEPTEMBER 26, 2005

So you already know Charisma Carpenter is coming to Veronica Mars in Season Two.

Creator Rob Thomas has announced in an E! Online chat on September 26 that Alyson Hannigan will be returning as Trina Echolls in the ninth episode of Veronica Mars Season Two. "She's asked to guest direct one of the Neptune High School theater productions, but that ends up being not all that's going on and believe me, we'll bend over backwards to put her and Charisma in a scene together," Thomas said.

Kittens! Don't read this if you do not want to be spoiled.

I am looking forward to this season of Veronica Mars. As always, she comes through.

First, I knew Logan couldn't be trusted. Veronica finds this out the hard way. She thought she could change him. He is turning out to be just like his father.

Second, she is dating Duncan now. :bounce :bounce :bounce :applause

Third, Lily is looking out for her. If she had gotten on that bus, she would have been dead as well. Too bad Veronica and Megan left things on such bad terms. :sob *Sigh*

That really was a great ep, I can't believe how much they managed to jam into the hour and it still flowed seamlessly. I hope they are bringing back some of the other characters, like the girl who is a computer wizard since I really liked her. Other than that I can't honestly think of a single thing I would have changed about the episode. Well, they could stop running it opposite Lost but you can't have everything.

Yes the computer girl definitely needs to come back. I´d rather see her in the regular cast than those two fuckwits that are Logan´s friends.
I enjoyed the episode and am happy the season finally started. The one thing I could do without is Veronica hooking up with Duncan again. :sleepy

I don´t expect them to last though, but then what part does he have to play if not her boyfriend now that Lily´s murder is no longer the plot point. Logan is interesting, I think it is probably better for either of them to be apart until he sorts out his issues. Getting beaten up all through your childhood, having your mother kill herself and daddy being not just an abuser, but also being a psychopathic killer who not only killed his girlfriend but slept with her too, then being falsely accused of murder might just unsettle anyone. Maybe not the best time to get too involved with one person and have her be the end all be all of things. I hope he will get past his anger and at least allow Veronica to be his friend, she is great at it. Too bad Meg was too bitter to see it. Fancy giving up a friend like Veronica over a snorefest like Duncan.

I certainly would have wished something other for her than the ending of the episode. Dude, that was harsh. I am pleased to see Lily´s blurry appearance. I like the actress who played her and it looked like her, I assume it actually was her, I have not checked the credits. I hope we get to see her in a few dream sequences here and there throughout the season.
Anyway, there were certainly quite a few twists and turns to this episode. I don´t require a story arc to enjoy this show, each episode can stand on it´s own for all I care, but now I wonder whether the big mystery will be about what happened to that bus. I need to reread what Kristen Bell said at the end of last season about the start of this one.

I have two questions:

What is Logan up to? He continues to give me the creeps.

Who is trying to frame Veronica?

Looks like Wallace has picked up a few things from Veronica. Maybe the young lady will give Wallace a chance. He deserves a good woman

This was another fantastic episode from start to finish. First, someone (bus driver's daughter) finally reacted to one of those snotty and cruel girls and slugged her. Violence may not always be appropriate but it does have its place. Nice to see that Wallace has learned a few things from Veronica and used them to help the new girl (too bad he wasn't more interested in the first suspect, that girl in crutches who obviously had a crush on him, she was adorable). It was just a small part but how could you not like seeing Kevin Smith in the episode, as a Clerk no less. VM's name on the hand was a superb ending, I love a good surprise to end an episode and that makes 2 in a row now. Just 2 episodes into the season and it's so far out in front as my favorite show it's ridiculous.

Finally got to see the first two episodes, and damn do I love this show. The writing and acting are stellar, as usual, and Kristen Bell rocks the casbah. I like the new characters, such as the Steve Guttenberg mayoral candidate and the Charisma-Carpenter-as-Laker-Girl. I especially liked the Mayoral wannebe's daughter's awkward social skills, and I think both characters will lead to fascinating storylines. And not just because Charisma Carpenter in a bikini is truly fascinating.

As for the Logan/Duncan/Veronica love-triangle, I am surprisingly bored. I love Logan's character, mostly because one never really understands what is going on with him and Jason Dohring is fantastic. Duncan bores me, although his line about Veronica listening to Radiohead had me laughing for a good half-hour. It was pretty easy to accept that Veronica and Logan should not date, even though they care about each other. The writers had me fooled for most of the premiere, but it was very easy to swallow once the break happened. As long as we get some delicious Logan angst, I'm happy.

Good to get some development on the new girl in the credits, and Keith running for Sherriff has potential to be an interesting storyline as well. All in all, very impressed with the start of the season and looking forward to the plethora of developments to come.

Another good episode, I really appreciate how they never take the easy way out - most shows would have ended with the realization that the bus driver was not out to commit suicide, but VM not only doesn't come up with some quick answer as to what really did happen, but also shows how slow officials would be to respond to the new info about the driver. Not to mention how reluctant they might be, since it opens up all kinds of ugly possibilities. I liked how Wallace did work on his own, and how they showed VM and others grieving and having difficulty dealing with the tragedy. I'm not wild about the Duncan/VM pairing but they did handle their hotel scene well. Gotta love how VM has the prescne of mind even in a stunning moment like that, to make a call immediatley and find out who was in the hotel room.

I'm not impressed with the new love interest for Wallace, or the guy running for mayor but maybe they'll grow on me. Meantime G, Mac the computer whiz is going to back for a few ep's this season after all. Yay for that. This new mystery with the washed up body looks interesting too, doesn't it?

Wow! VM still continues to amaze me. The show never fails to surprise and delight. She works one case and ends up uncovering other corruption.

It looks as if Aaron is trying to get revenge on Veronica even though he is behind bars. He is the reason the bus goes off of the cliff.

Logan is so lost.

What is going on with Wallace's mother? More and More questions.

Another first-rate ep, ho hum. must be fun to be working on a show that is so clearly on a roll. I liked that VM went to warn the teacher to sell, and I really liked his answer. I hope the problem with Wallace's mom doesn't turn out to be serious. Loved the crooked Dad's getaway, yelling shred everything and escaping in a helicopter with a briefcase full of cash or bonds while his poor son stands there uncomprehending. What a piece of work that guy turned out to be. We'll have to see if that means Charisma's character wil be staying around or not. And I should have gueesed what VM's name written on the hand would mean. She's probably right about her being the reason for the bus crash, but she has a long way to go to prove it. No mention of Meg in this ep that I can recall though, and I'm still not caring for Wallace's maybe/maybe-not girlfriend.

I am liking Wallace's "girlfriend" Jackie less and less.

Every show brings up more and more questions. What is going on with Wallace's mom is one.

I am a little disappointed they didn't show what is going on with the Casablancas fraud situation.

I look forward to next week, as usual. :grin

It was great to see Mac, even if it really only was about a minute of sceen time. She did get a couple of good lines in that time though. Good to see Weevil too. I so knew that guy was Wallace's dad. The mystery wasn't that great this week, but it was good to see VM working her mojo again, and I got a kick out of her tackling that girl. And at least we got to hear about Meg again, and they set up a mystery with her too, what is with Duncan seeing her every day? And what was her sister so desperate to hide from her parents? I hope it isn't the first possibility that came to my mind because that would be too obvious for this show

I'm sure we'll see more of the Casablancas soon since they are in the credits. I can wait, personally. And Wallace''s girlfirend better develop some redeeming qualities soon. Other than that I have no complaints.

I knew Sheriff Lamb was crooked. :rage He continues to show his true colors, and I hope Keith kicks his butt in the election.

Jackie is officially on my bad side. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because Wallace likes her so much. Speaking of Wallace, I hope he works out his issues because he really is a sweet guy and a great friend to Veronica.

Logan is still an ass.

The new clue about the bus crash in the cellphone message is interesting, and I liked that VM's dad didn't use it for his own gain, as Lamb surely would have done if the situation was reversed. I was sorry to see Wallace leaving town, but hopefully he'll be back quickly as he's an important part of the show. As with all these characters, Jackie is not a 100% villain, the show is far too clever to do that, but she is one unpleasant, untrustworthy girl. I liked it that she outsmarted VM, and that VM held off on revenge and decided instead to be kind to Wallace. Jackie will still get the full-on VM retribution down the line though.

I forgot to mention before that the guy in the Karaoake scene recently was the lead singer and songwriter of the Dandy Warhols, the band responsible for the theme music on the show. A nice bit of atunt casting I thought, and I laughed when I recognized him going up to the mike.

A recent interview with Jason Dohring which mentions Aly and her upcoming season 2 appearance.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Originally posted: October 28, 2005
A chat with Jason Dohring of "Veronica Mars"

Here's the full transcript of my interview with Jason Dohring, which was conducted Oct. 25, 2005.

So describe Logan for me, because I find him hard to sum up.

"He’s the son of a movie star; he kind of has that mentality. He grew up with that. He started off determined to make Veronica’s life a living hell, but that developed into this funny chemistry, then love and romance. Now there’s this triangle with Duncan and Logan and Veronica. So many things have happened along the way to give the audience insight into how he got to be the way he is and why he acts the way he does, how he got the motivation to act like such a complicated human being.

"When we did the original auditions, they gave me a couple of [Logan-acts-like-a-jerk] scenes, then I also got a scene where he’s burned by a cigarette lighter by his dad. It was intense and emotional. Rob wanted to see not just me playing the [jerk] but also if I could play the softer side. It gave me a chance to do both. It didn’t come out until a little bit later in the show, but [eventually] you got to see why he could be such a [jerk] and also how he’s just in this terrible situation."

Logan always seems to have a knee-jerk reaction to whatever happens, like he can’t contain himself or take a minute to figure out the rational response.

"Absolutely, and that’s the cause of many terrible situations for him. But I like that impulsiveness, I like that trait in him. It can lead to a lot of other stories for him."

Did you know, last season, that Logan and Veronica were going to get together?

"I’m actually glad, Rob told us about episode six or seven that we would get together. We were like, ‘No way!’ But there was something going on there. We could feel it as actors. It was damn cool -- these characters had some kind of connection. So we had to start to soften it up a little bit and break the ice somewhat [between the characters]. I’m glad he gave us that heads up."

That kiss near the end of last season -- the spark was amazing.

"It was so funny, as an actor, to kiss this girl. I was all nervous beforehand. But you have to just let it go for the scene. It was so fun to watch [later when it aired].

"Sometimes I’m working late, and I have to catch [the show] later, but [he watches the show every week when it airs]. Kristin is just so amazing;, in the last episode that aired [he was referring to the Oct. 19 episode, ‘Green-Eyed Monster.’], she’s just so free. She’s so smart. And I laugh out loud when I watch it. It’s great to watch with other people. I rarely get the chance but it’s great to hear everyone bust out laughing.

"We’re going to be going down to Texas, a few of us. They’re going to show this marathon of episodes, fans are going to rent it and we’re going to all watch it live with this audience in this great theater in Texas. It’s where Tarantino has his film festival and stuff like that. It’s down where Rico’s [Enrico Colantino] from. It’ll be terrific."

So, it must have been a drag to find out that Logan and Veronica are not together this year.

"I had no idea what was coming. I didn’t know who was at the door [in the first-season finale]. Nobody really knew who was at the door until we got the first script [for the second season], then it was so clever. She’s with Logan, but then she’s not with him. It goes beyond who’s at the door. It gives Veronica and Duncan a chance to be together; it sets up some good tension for my guy."

Logan gets a lot of great lines, a lot of the zingers.

"I love that. It is so fun. There were some racial jokes [last season]; I know we’ve had to ease off on that a little bit. I think we got involved in a little trouble over that. It wasn’t too big a deal."

Why do you think fans are so into the show?

"It inspires passion. It’s dark. It’s got these intense relationships; you can really emotionally root for certain characters. You just want to hold Veronica. The damage that’s been done to her just tugs at your heartstrings. When she pleaded with her dad to find her mom -- that just makes you feel so much for her. You want to see her win. There’s the relationship between her and her dad. Just the core things, the emotional aspect of it, is what holds people. There are the story lines too; they’re interesting, but it’s people going through life. The closer we get to real life [the more effective it is]. Everyone has those emotions, so we all respond to that."

Can you tell me anything about what’s coming up or will Rob Thomas break your leg?

"[laughs] We get certain things, certain giveaways, `You can say this, not that.’ So I can say that Logan’s dad is coming back in one episode. That’s a cool, intense show."

The relationship between Logan and Veronica is obviously very different this season.

"If you’ve been together with someone, you can’t go back to where you were before. If she had to help me again, how can I ask her for something? It sets up this weird situation, really different from the first season. He cried in front of her, he’s been open in front of her, she knows things. You can’t go back from that.

"[In Logan’s mind] she maybe could have told somebody [his private business]. It’s really bad for him; he thinks he can trust her, then it’s over. Deep down, he has integrity -- he does, in a way. They respect each others’ integrity, but it’s more than integrity; it’s principles, beliefs."

What’s it like working with [star] Kristin Bell?

"I love to act with her. There’s still that tension [between the characters]. I don’t know what they’re going to do with Logan; part of him still loves her. I don’t think the thing with Kendall is for emotional support [laughs]. But any love is better than no love. The thing is, who do you trust, when you have all that money? What do you do? That’s Neptune."

So Alyson Hannigan has been back as your sister Trina Echolls, right?

"Yeah, we were all so happy this morning when we shot that scene -- it was great. Alyson is back; Charisma [Carpenter] was here as well. We had a scene with us [Trina, Logan and Veronica] and Teddy [who plays Duncan Kane]. It was great: My older sister is there, and I’m having this affair with Kendall; it makes for some intense tension. But it was great, so funny. We all had a great time; it was cool to see that they [Charisma and Alyson] still had that flow, that connection. They have an energy together. They have that history."

"There’s a huge twist for Trina in this [Nov. 23] episode -- it’s amazing. It’s not just a normal twist. It’s written so well, but I can’t explain it. You gotta and wait and watch it. It’s a great story line. They shot most of Alyson’s stuff today and yesterday. I really look forward to seeing [the episode].

"We all really like this girl [Alyson]. We get together and just tease each other, she sucker-punches me. There’s just a total, I don’t know, we really have a sister-brother thing going on. I’ve never had that kind of connection with an actress before. It totally works.

"She loves doing the show, but then she hates it because she finds out all these things that are in upcoming episodes. We get to explain it to her: `This is what happens, then that.’ She’s like, `No way!’ But then she also loves to watch it and find out things [like everyone else]."

I think the show’s been even better this year than last.

"It’s going to get even better. A lot of seeds have been planted."

Ah damn, he has made me very curious. I cannot imagine what that twist might be.
Cartman: Mom--Kitty is being a dildo.

Mrs. Cartman: Well, I know a little kitty who is sleeping with Mommy tonight.
