I hated, hated, HATED this movie!

I agree with GG. I truly loved MD, even when it made no sense to me (I eventually caught on...). It was my first David Lynch experience and I loved it! On my list are now "Blue velvet" and "Lost highway".

ETA: And to stay on topic, I didn't like Kill Bill vol 2. Loved nr.1 , though...

I hope no-one minds me reviving this thread.

Just saw the movie 'Darkwolf' last night. It was rubbish! The plot was full of holes, interesting ideas were left unexplored and the effects were some of the worst I've ever seen.

2 "Hours" of disappointment

Postby Gatito Grande » Sun Oct 17, 2004 12:07 am

I'd long wanted to see The Hours---what w/ the theme of gayness running through it---and, courtesy of DirecTV's Total Choice Free Preview Weekend, I finally got my chance.

OK, I knew there was also a suicide theme (I did know how Virginia Woolf met her demise after all), but I didn't know it would be pervasive and relentless (not the kind of movie for someone suffering from clinical depression :paranoid )

GG Oscars, schmoscars: I didn't think Nicole Kidman's performance was all that, either. That's 2 "Hours" I'd really like to have back. :spin Out

I saw Vanilla Sky on TV a few days ago, I love Cameron Diaz, so I watched it because of her. Well partly watched it that is, as I decided to read a book at the same time. What an incredible piece of boring crap this was. It does not help that I do not like Tom Cruise, though I can´t say he did not try his best, he was into overacting overdrive most of the time. His character was just so unlikeable, whining and boring that I find it impossible to believe that anyone would want to sleep with his skinny short white body, let alone commit suicide over it.

I agree with everything Dr G Said about Vanilla Sky's. The film wasn't helped by the fact that I figured out the "twist" ending about halfway through it.

In all I'd say if you're thinking about seeing this film, watch Jacob's Ladder instead, which is a lot better.

ARGH!

Postby gabbles » Mon Nov 01, 2004 5:17 am

Okay, I...I wont say hated....disliked with a fiery passion, maybe?...'Chasing Amy'.

Good God, that movie got to me. I watched it the other night and I was going to turn it off, but decided to stick it out ...and regretted my damn stubbourness by the end of it. I was just glad I had 'But I'm A Cheerleader' to watch when it ended.

Another, I agree, is Vanilla Sky. I refuse to comment, except to say I DID NOT LIKE IT...

Titanic I couldn't sit through it, never again all I heard was 'Jack'.... 'Rose' ....'Jack'.... 'Rose' I've grasped their names thank you very much I don't need it repeated!

Daredevil what a load of... seriously all that hype and when I watched it I was left with a sense of 'that so could have been better'

Higher learning pickled me right off because the lesbian content was in there for no reason AT ALL except to be enticing to the audience and it so wasn't....

The Forgotten

Postby Thespia » Sun Nov 21, 2004 2:59 pm

I love Julianne Moore. Having said that I have to add that I deeply disliked 'The Forgotten'. The movie is based on such a good idea that the development of the plot (term being loosely used here) is an awful waste of our time, their money, and Moore's talent.

I mean where did logic go? And the ability to tell an interesting story? :spin It's like The X-Files meet True Calling (I love Eliza Dushku and have lots of fun watching Tru's adventures, but I expected a lot more from this movie, given that the storytelling is not the best of this TV show's features).

And that ending... Eh. :rolleyes

I went to the cinema on Tuesday to see 'The Devils Rejects' my friend wanted to see it simply because it was rated 18. She won't make that mistake again, it was needlessly violent, crap dialogue, crap plot, crap camera work. CRAP MOVIE!

I want my money back!

Has anyone here ever seen the movie, "At Close Range"? Sean Penn and Christopher Walken and unadultered suck. The plot took forever to get anywhere and made you sick from boredom when it finally twitched feebly.

Have to agree, the plot sort of lurched all over the place without quite deciding where it was supposed to be going and throwing in a load of cliches along the way.

I hated the director's cut of Daredevil. Now I quite liked the theatrical cut, but they turned an okay movie into a long boring movie. On the DVD commentary track the director says he can't understand why they had to originally edit out Bullseye kissing Elektra while he stabbed her. Combining sex with violence possibly!!!!!!!

If anyone gets the change to watch the DVD of the theatrical cut have a look at Jennifer Garner's screentest. Its poor quality and very short but Ben Affleck's lines are read, off camera, by a woman. I particularly liked the line: "Honey, I can't tell where the sugar ends and you begin."

How much better Daredevil could have been without Ben Affleck.

Totally agreed, the fact that in either case the monster did not turn out to be anything supernatural was a total let down for me, but there was so much much much more that annoyed the shit out of me.

My wife and I went to see Brothers Grimm this weekend. There were only like 6 other people in the theatre with us (Red Flag!) My wife ended up falling asleep one quarter way through the movie and halfway into it I decided it was time to go. :lol (at least the pop corn was good.....)

Anyone seen Birth with Nicole Kidman? Yes? You have my sympathy. No? Don't! This movie was sooo stupid. I considered writing Blockbuster demanding they give me back my $3.50 and the 1h 40m of my life, but I knew it would be pointless... like the movie!

I made it as far as her looking at her fiance and saying, "He said I shouldn't marry you." The fiance's reaction? Screw her harder. What's the deal with Nicole Kidman having dysfunctional sex on camera? Which, of course, brings me to Eyes Wide Shut. :wtf Time I will never get back.

Has anyone seen Donnie Darko? I so wanted to slap that schizophrenic grin right off of Jake Gyllenhaal's face. I accidently call it "Donnie Dorko" all the time.

The latest one I've seen that I ended up hating was House of Flying Daggers. Now, I'll admit, I normally like films like this and this was one of the most cinematically beautifull films I've ever seen. Sometimes it was more like looking at a series of photographs than watching a movie, but I think they spent too much time on the pretty and not enough time on the plot. BORING!!!!!!!

A History of Violence - don't watch it, seriously, don't.

It starts off, extremely dull (& remains dull throughout), it's has extremely unnecessarily graphic violence, & by the end my only thought was "what the hell?".
