I am not thinking clear today, head full of virusses and all, but hasn´t she said in her commentaries that she killed herself? Her husband is looking like a villain alright, and he certainly is, if he really wants to have Edie killed, but we do not even know that for sure, maybe that is all too easy. Maybe he is trying to protect his son from something. The mystery is interesting indeed.

Garfield, I was also puzzled when I first read the article that hinted to that possibility. Anyway, I think that what she says in that scene is that nobody could understand why she woke up that morning and decided to kill herself. Even when she talks about her death, Mary Alice never says she did, does she? I really can't remember exactly.

Yeah, love the mistery! :bounce

Well I may just rewatch the episodes, not for that though. I do not believe that theory, but I just like to rewatch and see what details I may have missed. Besides, it could be fun starting over, knowing the characters much better. I will pay attention to what she is saying though.

DH 11/28

Postby Gatito Grande » Mon Nov 29, 2004 12:29 am

This episode didn't grab me, for most of it, but it definitely got better towards the end.

Boy, that was a Twin Peaks-ish moment, when Mary Alice showed up w/ the gun, to Lynette (I half expected her to say "My father killed me" :eek Plus, it momentarily had me going "No, it's not going to be Lynette who dies---it can't be!" But I really didn't expect her to).

And speaking of which: yeah, I figured it would be Mrs. Huber who bought the farm (by process of elimination, as it were). She was sort of a neat character---she sure signaled what a fun show this would be, in the first few minutes of the pilot---but I guess she had to go. (We learned a little more about "Dana" in Mrs H's final moments).

When Lynette had her (long over-due) breakdown, and she was having her catharsis w/ Susan and Bree---talking about "how good it is to let it all out"---did anyone think that someone else might let it all out? (specifically, Bree re her punk-*ss kid's Hit-n-Run? She's definitely having second thoughts about spilling the beans. Bree, honey: sociopaths like Andrew don't get better on their own, if ever)

Gabrielle really is, I have to admit, a rather repulsive character in a lot of respects: good to see that she seemed on the verge of recognizing that, herself ("selfish child")

So Susan and Mike got it on, while Paul was offing Mrs. H: that almost managed to make the former interesting . . . but not enough (I'm sorry, but even w/ the gun and money, their story is still :yawn Couldn't they have gotten a more interesting actor than James Denton? The only part of that story I like is Bongo! :) )

I really like Julie Mayer (and Andrea Bowen who plays her), but her relationship w/ her mother is a little too "peer-ish" ("Your daughter? I thought she was your sister!") for my tastes (or my opinion of good parenting, truthfully). Discussing getting a hotel room---on like, your first date w/ a guy---w/ your 14-15 year-old daughter? Yuck.

So, this is all set in the fictional metropolis of "Fairview" (they couldn't have come up w/ a better name?). Would Bree's "dump the car" plan even really work? (And why did Rex and Bree wait to see the car stolen? It's called "don't loiter near the scene of the crime," folks)

Feh, now we have to wait two weeks again . . .

GG Lynette getting ("stealing" ) a nanny : 'bout damn time! (Either that, or Mr. Mom :miff ) Out

Finally it´s back, I had missed it. I enjoyed the last episode well enough, there has not been one episode I have not liked. The plot just keeps on thickening. Bree´s son must be the son of satan, what a nasty little fuck, a chip of the old paternal block.

I don´t believe for a moment Zack killed his little sister, in fact I wonder if there ever was a little sister. He may be interpreting his memories incorrectly. I bet the blood he saw was Dana´s, but that she was not his sister, but rather the sister of that woman we saw a few episodes ago. My guess remains that she was a nanny or something. I believe his father is a very bad man, not just because he killed my favorite busy body, but because he is sacrificing his son´s mental health to protect the skeletons in his chests. Looking forward to the next one.

Carlos did not seem to be surprised that he got arrested. Even if he were set up, he must have known something fishy was going on at work, so he can´t be as innocent as he claims. I doubt he called the FBI himself.

The nanny thing was great, I like the actress who plays her so I hope she will become a recurring character. I wonder how she is going to handle those little demons. She might have had the boss from hell but she just exchanged her for the kids from hell. :seesaw

Did he do something besides beat the crap out of the cable guy? They had a good police sketch of him. We got a @#$&* football game instead of DH at 9, & when they played it at 12:45 they cut out 4 1/2 minutes. Channel 7 sucks, but the TV column was kind enuf to tell us what we missed. The local WL news also told us it was a child's remains...now said to be an adult (per TV column).

Lynnette needs to let it go. So she's not good at mothering, so what. It doesn't mean the boys don't love her. She's still their mother but maybe she was made to go out into the work world and WORK!

Bree, bree!! so glad you got a chance to tell that fucker off. I was afraid she'd be thrilled he still loved her.

It's funny. At the beginning it seemed like Bree was completely unlikeable, but I think that now she's my favorite of the housewives. Or at least tied with Lynette.

Bree kicks ass, I was worried for a moment she would take that nasty little shit back. The scene with Gabrielle pushing that couch stacked with almost the entire contents of her house cracked me up. Lynette does need to let it go, it is not a competition. A week ago her kids were driving her insane and she was the mom who could do little else than scream in frustration. Does she want to go back to that? Good to see the wondernanny could not conquer the evil sprouts though. I used to hate those things too, vile tasting stuff. I am glad Gabrielle chose to burn his passport instead of those papers. If he really was involved in making profit through slave labour he should suffer the consequences. I hope Gabrielle will not let her own lust for wealth win out in the end.

DH 1/9

Postby Gatito Grande » Mon Jan 10, 2005 9:59 pm

Hey, where are all the Desperate fans? I'd expect a sound-off by now.

I have mixed feelings about Lynette and . . . (blanking out on Doug Savage's character's name) getting rid of their nanny, just because her youthful curves get DS hot&bothered (I mean, if Lynette's the beneficiary, what's the problem?) Beyond just the "what's the problem" issue in their sex life, I just don't think it's fair to dismiss someone because s/he's "too exciting" (smacks of harrassment, if you ask me. They better give her a good reference!)

OK, can we please just see Edie and Susan go at it? (I'm thinking, in either mud, or oil. T-shirts optional :devilish )

Andrew seriously needs to be bitch-slapped :punch (in a nonviolent way), the Lil' Putz. :mad

Karl may be scum, but I still kinda have to agree w/ him about Mike. :yawn But Susan luvvvvs him, so whatever I guess.

Oh, I almost forgot: Gabby, why didn't you take the sci fi con "Warrior Princess" gig?! :lmao God, that would have been priceless (we can only hope she'll get "desperate" enough! :pray )

GG At least Bree *recognizes* she's anal retentive : that's the First Step to recovery! All she needs, is a Really Good F*ck, IMO (sorry, but I don't think the pharmacist is capable of delivering) :p Out

Well I had to wait for my download to finish and you basically beat me to anything I wanted to say. Except that I am regret that Susan went off on that karaoke rant. Man she can sing, she can really sing, I would have loved to hear her sing the entire song. She is gorgeous. I am very very happy that she got to truly dump her ex and I love the way she did it. I only hope that Bree´s asshole husband won´t get a second chance with her. Firing the nanny was just wrong and I hope they get the nanny from hell this time, they should live to regret it. I too wish Gaby would have taken the other job, that would have been perfect. I am very happy the show is back.

1/16: quite the night for DH!

Postby Gatito Grande » Mon Jan 17, 2005 12:39 am

First off, congrats DH, on the Golden Globes win! (certainly, this show has more "golden globes" than any other, eh? :p ) And to Teri Hatcher, for picking up Best Actress.

Onto the show (definitely a night for the VCR: I watched the Globes while taping DH)---

I am never quite sure whether I am more aroused by Bree, or scared sh*tless by Bree: definitely the mark of a compelling character! :applause (Marcia woulda got my vote over Teri, but I'm not a member of the "Hollywood Foreign Press" :wtf )

And speaking of Teri: well, Susan and Edie aren't quite mud wrestling yet, but a hose-down is a good start! :lol The scene in the boat (until the ash was thrown) was kinda weak, though: it was So Obvious that Edie was milking it. Susan knew Edie was suspicious (Edie freakin' said so!): why would she fall for that lame-ass performance so easily?

Why did Lynette confess (shaving her kid's head to get the gum out)? She coulda just said "No, you're not going to die, honey" and everyone just would have thought she was being the Brave Lil' Mommy.

So was Carlos actually going to get it on w/ Gabby? I guess the Closet Case is making the sacrifice, just to get a baby out of her*.

GG Um, is there some kind of refrigerant/embalming-substance in the soil of . . . what is it? "Fairview"? Cuz Martha Huber's body is (i.e. appeared to be) holding up surprisingly well! :stink Out

* You know, there are rampant rumors that one husband is going to Come Out. Over at Gay.Com's online poll, Carlos is the leading contender---and I really agree.

Re: 1/16: quite the night for DH!

Postby urnofosiris » Mon Jan 17, 2005 5:13 pm

Edie cracked me up, it is funny that she brought up high school. I was thinking the exact same thing when they were giving her the cold shoulder during their poker game. I would not have figured her as a high school cast out/freak though, but on second thought it makes more sense than her being the cheerleader type. I like her, I love the way she literally hosed down Susan. She had it coming, not for burning down the house, but for the way she has treated Edie so far. I hope their rivalry will continue, it makes for nice confrontations, but I also hope they will become genuine friends at heart.

I was actually feeling sorry for George even if he was clearly a tad of his rocker with that incessant smile on his face, I thought he was nice and I was actually rooting for him until that last scene. That had stalker written all over it, but Bree is clearly not a woman to be messed with. The scene with her getting that gun was hilarious.

Dude, I love this show. Carnivale has been conflicting and yesterday I had to go download both of those shows cause I was watching the Golden Globes. I am glad they won the award, but I would have prefered Marcia Cross getting the acting one, still Hatcher can keep it!

Ok, yes Edie/Susan subtext yay! I was thinking of how much chemistry they have together, what fun! Yes, wrestling NOW! I felt sorry for Edie for once. I really think I am starting to like her. I too wish they become friends at some point, but I never want that competitive edge to go away.

George, sigh. First, he amuses me cause he was the stepford gay husband in the Stepford Wives movie. He's really funny. I still wish Bree could grow to love someone else cause I hate her HUBBY!

I was two weeks behind so I may comment on older eps as well.

I did not like the way they got rid of the nanny. I suppose it is good for the marriage but hey sometimes you can't take away temptation and then what? Seriously, I love me some Felicity Huffman but her character is really hard to like. Gabrielle is being more likeable recently. Passing off her kid as a cancer patient is pretty low.

I like Gabrielle earning her money the hard way, I think it is good for her. I don't like that her husband is trying to trap her in the marriage with a kid. Ass.

Bree - Gun, sexy. I hate to say it but *shiver* Bree is just damn sexy no matter what. I am glad her son finally understood her point of view, at last!

I have to agree with a previous poster's statement: why didn't Lynette just keep QUIET??????? That way, she could have kept her yoga class and looked like Mother Courage comforting her distressed child:devilish And Xita, please note that she did not actively deceive the people at the yoga/daycare place: they saw the bald head and simply assumed that the child was undergoing chemotherapy (Why? He could just as easily have had head lice;) ).

My favorite line of the evening: Susan telling Edie that she had to go shower to "wash Mrs. Huber off of me".:rofl

Brie: one scaaaaary lady. Am I the only the only one who thinks that her two children should be named Camembert and Roquefort? :p

Y'know, I read about this and heard of it more than once and how American viewers were watching and loving the show. I honestly thought it would probably be a load of hype about nothing, but I admit it.... I was wrong because it really is that good!

I love how it is clearly taking the 'p*ss' out of the suburban housewife and how looking down whisteria(sp?) lane you'd think it was a nice, friendly place to live.

That may be so, but nice, friendly places don't have dead bodies under swimming pools!

I love how each character reprisents a different type of woman that most of us will have living down our own street, I know I have a woman who's kids run wild (Lynette) and a woman who's got everything but has nothing (Gabby) and I'm sure most people have a slutty neighbour (edie) :lol

Annnnnyway, Teri Hatcher....

Yum!

DH 1/23

Postby Gatito Grande » Sun Jan 23, 2005 11:39 pm

So Bree and Rex met at a Young Republicans meeting: there's a shocker. :rolleyes Rex and George are both scum: Bree could do better (though admittedly, she could be better as well: maybe she'll meet someone, who'll both rock her world, and change her politics? :pray )

So the plot thickens everywhere: now Dana is alive? (Well, we knew she wasn't in the floating box) Where is she? Who is she? And what's Tom Scavo's secret (someone he boinked)?

Zach is, admittedly, very scary: I can see why Susan wouldn't want him anywhere near Julie. Nevertheless, saying "I don't want you to see her for awhile" is like waving the proverbial red flag in front of the proverbial bull. :spin And since we've seen in the past that Julie (former "Ideal Child") has had a peer-like/sometime-caretaker role w/ her mother, it will be even harder for Susan to effectively put her foot down!

The idea that John's parents (esp. his mom) would turn to Gabrielle strains credulity (it's pretty clear that "John Sr"---whomever---would like to get sum dat action! Not that I can blame him ;) )

GG So, what do you think that George the Pharmacist put in Doctor's Snob's heart medicine? Out

Missed Edie. Didn't miss Mike. :grin

Very interesting episode, the plot just keeps on thickening. I was glad to finally see some genuine emotion that was not selfishness from Gabrielle. Zack is very scary, but he has been messed with so much, so it is hardly surprising, but that does not not not excuse his violent outbursts. The way he said "dad" made me think that Paul is not his real dad at all. What can this sectret be that Paul would rather let Susan think his son killed his baby sister than that she is alive. Did they kidnap their kids or something? There really was a body in that trunk, was she Mike´s ex? These pieces must all fit together somehow. I wonder how long they are going to string us along, six seasons, seven seasons? I don´t mind, I love this show.

Okay well I've watched the first two episodes so far, and I love it, I can't wait to watch the rest, but it's kinda hard to find good torrent links... I don't suppose it has been released on DVD yet? :aww

Anyway, the reason why I was attracted to this show at first, is that it features Nicollette Sheridan, on whom I had a huge crush back in the 1990's when I used to watch Knots Landing (ah, student life...) :D

Then I heard about the show's nominations at the Golden Globes, and I'm not surprised, it's really well-written, funny and intriguing (what did Mary Alice do, and who is Mike??), plus it has a great cast!!

Desperate Housewives definitely goes on my list! :)

ETA: I've watched the first 8 episodes, I'm about to watch #9, OHMYGOD OHMYGOD!!!! This show is brilliant!! :thud

ETA again: I'm all caught up on the first 13 episodes, my God why do we have to wait until Feb. 20th!!!!! It's just so cruel... :aww

I am really terrible with names, who´s Steve? I don´t recall him. Anyway, the only important thing about the ending was that Lynette gave Martha Hubert´s bracelet (her name was ingraved in it) to Susan saying her kids stole it from Mike´s garage. The rest were just a few sweet things about Valentine´s day. The old lady remembering her son, Gabrielle hugging Carlos, Bree getting the handcuffs from the dishwasher, you know, sweet stuff like that. :p

Re: DH 2/20

Postby urnofosiris » Mon Feb 21, 2005 4:14 pm

Did he actually say that or did people guess it? I don´t recall, in any case it was nicely done. I just wish Andrew wasn´t such a callous selfish asshole, still not detecting any guilt over Mrs. Solice, but then she seems to have dropped off the face of the earth altogether. It is time they wake her up before it becomes too unrealistic to do so. Gabrielle did some real growing up this episode, she was...nice. :shock

I am very happy Susan´s daughter got to see the glimps of Mr Hyde in her Dr Jekyll. Zack is really scary, but his father did not help any by letting him be pumped full of pills without proper treatment. I worry that he may try to hurt Julie. Bree amused me, she can be so prissy and uptight.

Re: DH 2/20

Postby Gatito Grande » Mon Feb 21, 2005 5:57 pm

You got it backwards, G. "Spy" actually did name Andrew (particularly impressive, since over on Gay.com, where there was a poll to guess the male character rumored to come out, Andrew was not even listed! I guessed Carlos, who was leading the pack at the time I clicked my guess). It was "Marcia will come out" that was only hinted at (over on Datalounge . . . and guessed/gossiped about everywhere else on the net!)

It's funny: I'm seeing a parallel between Gabrielle&Carlos on DH, and Sun&Jin on Lost: in each case, the guy was portrayed as a one-dimensional *sswipe, whom the woman either was cheating on, or seemed poised to. But now, under the relevent trials involved, Gabby and Sun seemed to have fallen for their guys again. (Still doesn't help any potential *cough*IKeepDreaming!*cough* grrl-on-grrl factor, but Oh Well. :sigh )

On that note, maybe an Out Andrew will be less a one-dimensional putz, also?

GG Am really hoping that the various world-rocking events in Bree's life will change her politics! :pray Out
