pacou you listed two of my favs as well 'Fucking Amal' was fucking brilliant, and Rocky Horror was, well what can you say about Rocky that hasn't been said - I know that quite a number of celebrative coughsplashescough have been inspired or have happened before, after, and yes during screenings of this fab movie.

other favs are - pretty much anything with Susan Sarandon (esp. the Hunger as it gets the award for first time I saw two women kissing - mmmmmmmmmm), Mel Brooks movies, Monty Python flicks, and Children of Paradise, frances, pI, like water for chocolate, antonia's line, whale music, ma vie en rose, and time code.

plus like many other's I adore Julie Andrews - the Sound of Music is played at least once a year in my house, but beware do not come close to the house when it is playing as you WILL hear those inside singing along at very loud volumes.

Oh yes, The Hunger! I forgot to mention that one in my first post. The love scene between Susan Sarandon and Catherine Denurve was my first time seeing a lesbian love scene too. I was about 14 and just coming to realize my sexuality, and that movie came HBO. My mom wanted to watch it because she loves vampires and wanted me to watch with her. I really loved the scene where David Bowie is sitting in the hospital waiting for SS to come back and he ages a few decades in a few hours. I thought "Cool movie." Then THAT scene came on, totally unexpected. I was enthralled and excited and embarassed all at once. I was sure my mom could see my blushing and would figure it all out and maybe even throw me out of the house... or worse. For the rest of the movie I could hardly breath, and I thought my head was going to explode. When it was over my mom just said "Cool movie."

The Hunger also holds the distinction of being to movie that got me into vampires (before that I just thought my mom was weird) which lead me to Buffy which lead me here. So it is definatly on my all-time-favorites list.

Strangely enough I was also watching TV with my mom when I first saw my absolute favorite lesbian movie When Night Is Falling. Nice, simple love story with a happy ending. Gotta love that. And running away with the circus was always such a fantasy of mine. My mom really liked it, too.

MemsMapper, glad to see I'm not the only one w/ favorite movies that came out decades before I was born!

*All the Fred & Ginger movies, but especially The Gay Divorcee (that's "gay" in the old meaning, folks), Top Hat and Swing Time. Just about anything w/ Fred Astaire: The Band Wagon, Daddy Long Legs, Easter Parade

*Singin' in the Rain, An American in Paris, and On the Town: just about anything w/ Gene Kelly.

*West Side Story, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Oklahoma!: great B'way musicals that made great movies

Hmmm: sensing a theme here? I love musicals. (Yeah, even White Christmas!)

*Gone with the Wind: the spectacle of spectacles, and Vivien kicks ass as Scarlett

*Casablanca: man, I could just recite this movie from beginning to end. One of the greatest scripts ever, w/ performances to match. Speaking of scripts,

*All About Eve: the zingers just keep on a-comin, especially when Bette Davis is zingin' em! (The gay writer-director, Joseph Manciewicz (sp?), gay star George Saunders, and hints at grrl-on-grrl action make this a gay romp through and through . . . to say nothing of Marilyn Monroe!)

*"Capra-corn", especially Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and yes, It's a Wonderful Life

(The rest is chronological, I think)

*The African Queen: just because. I mean, Kate and Bogie!

*The Americanization of Emily: for my money, Julie Andrews best mid-60s movie, and she didn't even sing! Great script, as relevant as ever today: war sucks, don't ever forget it.

*Resurrection: starring Ellen Burstyn. Mind-blowing and moving. One of the best films on the subject of faith (good, bad and ugly)

*E.T. The Extraterrestrial: because I just love it (I always cry). w/ John Williams' best score.

*Gandhi: the story of the man who's gonna save our bacon (as it were), if anyone is. Overdone, but his life deserves it.

*Reds: I love this period of history (my undergrad degree), and it told it really well (kept it humming along, despite its length)

*The Hunger: for all the reasons mentioned by others. (Because it made me think "maybe I'm not straight . . . and maybe that's OK!"):drool

*Peking Opera Blues: w/ the action of "Crouching Tiger" but lighter and more fun. But drama too: Bridget Lin (?) as the butch girl resisting her cruel father's whip? :::swoon:::

*Parenthood: Steve Martin's best. Funny, w/ a great message, too. (I even like brain-dead Keanu in this: "That's what little dudes do.")

*Do the Right Thing: Spike Lee when he was spot-on and jammin'

*When Harry Met Sally: OK, guilty pleasure!

*Terminator 2: OK, another! (The ultimate action-movie)

*Thelma and Louise: I saw it as a metaphor, and not at all depressing. They live!

*Schindler's List: horrifyingly real, but necessary. Keeps the obscenely abstract painfully intimate.

*Pulp Fiction: masterful story-telling (I close eyes when it gets too violent, though)

*Bound, as mentioned previously (love the toe-curling! :devilish ) and also grrl-on-grrl, from India,

*Fire: tremendously moving. Love that defies *huge* odds.

and, to end on a light note (la-la-la!), and come full circle,

*The Hunchback of Notre Dame: yeah, Disney's, w/ the dancing gargoyles (You go, Buffy!). Seriously, the music is great, and there's a readily apparent subtext that applies perfectly to queers if you're looking (wishing to be "Out There", and the exquisite "God Bless the Outcasts").

Oy vey! That's enough for now!

GG Hooray for Hol-ly-wood! (and "Bollywood," and "HongKongWood," etc. etc.) :applause Out

ETA: Shite, checkie, you reminded me: of course Vertigo (you put on that gray suit, and I'll be happy to play Jimmy Stewart---less "psycho" though!) And I prefer the original Alien, but the plural is a close second. Finally, I forgot Dead Man Walking: the message is cool, but the performances are *awesome*. When Sarandon finally reaches Penn, it's so cathartic, it's like a spiritual orgasm (does that make sense?).:hmm

Feh: I'm sure I'll think of some more.

-I love James Bond movies, even the bad ones. I hope that won't get me kicked out of lesbian-feminist heaven someday.

-Double Indemnity: Billy Wilder's and Raymond Chandler's words brought to life by Barbara Stanwyck, Edward G. Robinson, and Fred MacMurray, accompanied by Miklos Rozsa's music. Almost perfect.

-Prizzi's Honor: a neat little mafia farce, with great work by Jack Nicholson, John Randolph, Anjelica Huston, and William Hickey.

-The Best Years of Our Lives: the down the hall shot of Myrna Loy and Fredric March embracing upon his return from the war is swoonworthy. As is Myrna throughout the movie.

-Vertigo: ultimately, a creepy premise. But I want that gray suit that Kim Novak is wearing. Great cinematography, fabulous Bernard Herrmann score, and Barbara Bel Geddes in glasses.

-Rosemary's Baby: OK, I think Roman Polanski belongs in jail. But I love this movie. It's suspenseful, funny, and horrifying, sometimes all at once. The cast is full of great character actors like Sydney Blackmer, Ruth Gordon, Patsy Kelly, Maurice Evans, as well as Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, and the Dakota apartments.

-All About Eve: snappy dialogue, backstage backstabbing, and Celeste Holm. But I wish Claudette Colbert hadn't had to bow out of the Margo Channing role. She would have been perfect. Better than Davis, I think. YMMV, of course.

-Bound: don't need to explain this one.

-Seconds: early sixties sci-fi/suspense movie. A serious role for Rock Hudson, and I think he pulled it off pretty well. Great supporting cast, including Grandpa Walton(Will Geer) going all evil.

-The Manchurian Candidate: want to see Angela Lansbury be very, very bad?

-Aliens: "Get away from her, you bitch!"

Others:

-The Opposite of Sex

-Citizen Ruth

-Relax, It's Just Sex

-Boogie Nights

-Far From Heaven

-Fargo

-The Sound of Music, because I still have a huge crush on Julie Andrews, and I could be straight for Christopher Plummer.

eta: lol, GG. note to self: must find gray suit.

It'll be the train, Walter, just the way you want it. Straight down the line.

Aliens:Vasquez, NOOOooooooo:cry . Kick-ass in every way. Best action ever.

Three Colours: Red: If you see one French movie ever it has to be this. All about fate and repitition of events in time. The cinematography is genious.

The Shawshank Redemption: I'm a sucker for a well told story.

Caddyshack: I'm also a sucker for mindless, childish humor that never gets any less amusing.

Animal House: See above.

Drop Dead Gorgeous: Hee! satire, mocumentery, twisted humor. I cant help myself.

Monty Python's Holy Grail, Life of Brian, etc.: What? Don't look at me like that. You must embrace thier humor and just go with it. Then you can quote random stupidity at parties and instantly gather around you a group of like minded dorks:p .

The Silence of the Lambs: Best suspense ever. Plus Jodie Foster...:wink

Evil Dead Trilogy: Groovy.

Notorious: One of my Hitchcock faves. Groundbreaking camerawork plus the incomprable Ingrid Bergman:bow . Rear Window gets an honorable mention because Grace Kelly is quite possibly the most ellegantly beautiful woman ever. Detract points because I can never get over the fact that she is paired with a man more than twice her age. Creepy. High Noon avoids a favorite vote for the same reason.

T2: So kick-assand much buff Sara Connor:grin . Although I. Must. Not. Use. Logic.

Old school John Hughes movies: I have nothing to say about that.:spin

eta.

The Thirteenth Warrior: Wow.

Dragonslayer: I'm a sucker for this kind of movie.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Psycotic, mindtrippy and twisted. Plus I love Johnny depp.

Tim Burton movies in general: This guy is unparralleled in artistic direction. So cool.

Mmm films that I love,

Flatliners, the whole thing about choosing to experience death had me intrigued.

Dark Skies - I really loved this film, it took me a few times to truely get what was going on, I loved it never the less.

The Cube - absolutley fantastic film, I loved the ending.

The Cube 2 - Again another fabulous film, expanding on the first one and introducing new ideas to the whole concept. I got the idea from the end of the film that there is going to be another. :)

Zulu - Michael Caine at his best. I am determined that one of these days I am going to spot one of the Zulu's wearing a wrist watch.

Beautiful Creatures - Susan Lynch & Rachel Weisz, two people from totally different worlds thrown together.

Nil by Mouth - This is a very painful film to watch and it covers topics that many people try to gloss over but the acting is remarkable.

Aliens - In my opinion better than the first and miles better than the further sequels.

Devils Advocate - The whole free choice and the devil will get you in the end, really interested me.

Usual Suspects - I like films that make me think, huh? Oh yeah!

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - I am from Nottingham, I have been to Sherwood forest and it is nowt like the places they used in the film but Alan Rickman is so fucking funny as the Sherif of Nottingham, I can't help but love this film.

Monty Python: The Meaning of Life - My favourite of the films but I do love the others too!

Purely Belter - This film captures perfectly what football can mean to so many people particularly here in the North - East. Many of the kids don't have much too look forward too apart from going to see the toon play. Oh and it is really funny as well.

Others erm, The Matrix, LOTR, Back to the Future & X-Men

On the top of my head: “Cruel Intentions” I just love that movie! And no; not for “the kiss” (because frankly I’ve seen, hell, even done better) but the whole movie is just perfection, from beginning to end. The ending is priceless: she (SMG’s character Kathryn Merteuil) is soooo busted! Great acting, especially from SMG (yes, I adore her, so sue me :p )and a fantastic soundtrack.

As for oldies: that has got to be “Gone With The Wind”. And anything with Greta Garbo.....

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

"City Of Angels" :blush I went and watched it 5 times in the Cinema, Hehe that was sick.

"Great Expectations" is a good one for me too, Oh! "The Hole" with Thora Birch, pretty good, well and there are more, I could go on with lotsa movies, but i think these are the ones i would go buy first for my collection.

Re: movies

Postby Scout » Thu Apr 24, 2003 3:11 pm

This is as hard as naming your fav W/T moments, because as soon as you post the list you go “Oh man, I forgot one.” hehe

Animation: Beauty and the Beast – not only was it a wonderful love story with great music, but the computer-animated ballroom scene made me a total fanatic about computer animation (and this was before Pixar)

Horror: Salem’s Lot – there are parts of this movie that give me the chills just thinking about them. The scene where the little boy, who’s been turned into a vampire, floats up to his brother’s window and scratches on the glass to get him to open it - it gives me the major willies every time. And this show is proof that a movie doesn’t have to be bloody to be incredibly scary.

Drama: The Paper Chase – this had been my fav movie for quite a while when I was lucky enough to meet Timothy Bottoms in New York on my birthday. I told him how much I loved him in this movie, and he was very sweet and asked his brother, actor Joseph Bottoms, to hold his drink so he could give me an autograph. Then I felt awful that I never asked Joseph for his autograph, too. hehe

Comedy: My fav comedies change a lot, but the current one that pops into my head is Best in Show. That movie has so many hilarious moments you have to watch it about ten times to appreciate them all.

Musical: Chicago – I’ve seen it twice at the theater and that’s pretty rare for me so I’ll say it’s my favorite non-animated musical. I could watch Catherine Zeta Jones dance around in that black outfit all day long.

Lesbian/Gay: Aimee and Jaguar – I read the book awhile back and although I was disappointed that the movie left out quite a bit of the story, the acting in it was fantastic and more than a few scenes were incredibly touching. The ending is sad because the lesbian dies, but it was a true and important story, so I didn't hold that against it. I was glad I bought it.

Re: Movies I love

Postby Gatito Grande » Thu Apr 24, 2003 3:25 pm

OK, I'm back w/ more (this thread will be the death of me---I love movies waaaay too much!)

*NB: I cheated w/ my movie-listing book as a reminder. :D

Chronologically listed:

*It Happened One Night: the first great "Capra-corn" but smart and funny. I saw it again a few months ago, and it's surprisingly undated for *nearly 70 years*.

*The Bride of Frankenstein: The classic horror movie, even better when you know who's behind it (James Whale, as depicted a few years ago in the great bio pic Gods and Monsters)

*The Adventures of Robin Hood: hello color! Fun, fun, fun (Who's prettier, Olivia de Havilland or Errol Flynn? ;) )

*The Wizard of Oz: of course.

*The Maltese Falcon: "If you lose a son, it's possible to get another. There's only *one* Maltese Falcon!" For that line alone . . . (Oh yeah, Bogie's in it)

*Now, Voyager: I'm a total sucker for the romance. And, as passionate an anti-smoker as I am, :stink I'd inhale the carcinogens if offered by Paul Henreid.:p

*Brief Encounter: Boy, was my mom right about this one. A simple tale, *stunningly* well-told. The emotion is almost over-powering. (GG's sociological commentary: It was also Britain's way of acknowledging---and forgiving---that everybody cheated on everybody during the war.)

*Hamlet: Larry's da Man.

*A Streetcar Named Desire: "Stella!" Vivien Leigh's other tour-de-force, and Brando as the posterchild for butch (worst aspects thereof)

*From Here to Eternity: the classic H'wood melodrama, w/ faboo cast (Anyone else imagine *you* were Burt Lancaster, w/ Deborah Kerr and that wave? ;) )

*Some Like It Hot: one of the greatest H'wood comedies ever, timeless.

*Spartacus: I'm Spartacus! (no, really, I am). Especially great since the "gay scene" (Larry Olivier putting the moves on Tony Curtis) was restored.

*Early SciFi: Invaders from Mars, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Day the Earth Stood Still, When Worlds Collide, The Blob, War of the Worlds, Forbidden Planet: I love this stuff!

*Psycho: still scary like nobody's business, and no one paces a movie like the master (Hitchcock). Bernard Herrman ("God of Scores") rules!

*Dr. Strangelove and Fail-Safe: the two great anti-nuke pics of 1964. See also H Fonda's other Presidential turn in The Best Man (first direct reference to homosexuality---"deeegeneracy" as they say---I ever saw in the movies). 1964: the same year Americanization of Emily came out. How the heck did the U.S. go into Vietnam right after these great anti-war movies? (Ugh, see my latest rant on the War/Politics thread)

*The Graduate: "Just one word, Benjamin: Plastics!" "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me." "Are you here for an affair, sir?" :lol This movie is just yummy (and love the Simon and Garfunkel music)

*(Franco Zeffirelli's) Romeo and Juliet: the movie that got me to love Shakespeare. Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey are stunning to look at (actually, the whole movie is), and Michael York makes a great Tybalt. Also by Zeffirelli,

*Brother Sun, Sister Moon. This movie and Godspell allowed me to see how my childhood's obligatory Sunday-morning experience could be meaningful for the whole week (and life).

*The Great White Hope: w/ James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander. "Knock-out" drama, heart-breaking.

*Frankenstein: The True Story: the only made-for-TV movie on my list. Sensational cast (Leonard Whiting, Michael Sarrazin, Nicola Paget, Jane Seymour, and James Mason), and an amazingly beautiful, creepy tale. This ain't camp, it's true horror (screenplay by, get this: Christopher freakin' Isherwood). Along w/ the (original) Satan's School for Girls, from the same year ('73), the only TV movies ever to keep me awake nights. Ayeeee!

*All That Jazz: my first R-rated flick! (a b-day treat for GG). The direct ancestor to this year's Chicago. A psycho-musical investigation of "flirting w/ death." Great dancing, and, as they say about the next flick, w/ "lots of larfs and sex" . . .

*The Rocky Horror Picture Show: (this is out of chronological order, because I didn't see it until I was in college). "*sshole!" "Where's your f*cking neck?" "Up the *ss is a strange journey!" The ultimate audience-participation experience. Let's do the Time Warp again!

*Bread and Chocolate: a wonderful little fish-out-of-water comedy from Europe. The scene w/ the orange peel in the kitchen represents my philosophy of life (why bother carving it yourself, when you can use somebody else's? :grin )

*Wings of Desire: European sexual-angst, in all its . . . well, angst. Beautifully done (though the "punk" ending's a little too punk for me!)

*Dangerous Liasons: Sexy, beautiful movie, w/ a real moral punch

*The Silence of the Lambs: still keeps me awake at night (and I watched it through my hands). Iconic performances from Hopkins and Foster.

*Love Field: Michelle Pfeiffer's best, and Dennis Haysbert's ("President Palmer" from 24---wish the heck we had him!) first. Very moving.

*The English Patient: because it was so damned beautiful to look at (and listen to).

Stopping now, I promise!

GG Am I abusing my posting rights w/ excessive/obsessive movie-lovin'? :bounce Out

dekalog: thanks, I aim to please! (or at least amuse)

checkie: won't your "gray-suit modeling" get you (or me?!) in trouble w/ "mrs. mscheckmate"? ;)

Kieli: y'know, what you imply (my "gay-man-ness" ) definitely contributed to my ex-husband's leaving me (hey, could I help it that I looked better in a suit?? :p ) (Let it be *clearly* understood, though, that I'm a "gay man" who's into the grrl-lovin'!!!:drool )

Here are my favorites in no particular order because I couldn't possibly rank them:

Life is Beautiful: Laughing one moment and crying the next. An amazing story.

Out of Africa:I'm a sucker for an epic romance that doesn't necessarily have a happy ending. Plus, I love when Meryl uses that whip, though I didn't want her to hurt the lion.

The Color Purple: Such strong performances by the women in this film.

Antonia's Line: This movie just rocks. Strong women living life on their terms.

The Shawshank Redemption: The last line gets me every time, when Red say, "I hope."

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Whimsical, plus Sally Ann Howes really is Truly Scrumptious.

Shindler's List: Brutal and powerful. I remember not being able to leave the movie theater, I was so overcome with emotion.

Ladyhawke: Delightful little love story with a twist. Matthew Broderick is a hoot and well...Michelle Pfeiffer. Yum!

Always: Another beautiful little love story. Holly Hunter is simply wonderful.

Manhunter: This is truly the original in the Hannibal Lecter series. Intense and thrilling.

A Room With A View: I'm sucker for Merchant & Ivory. I thought the cast was simply brilliant and you can't beat the cinematography.

Chicago: I totally expected to hate this, but I was completely entertained. The entire cast pleasantly surprised me.

*****

Postby Thespia » Fri Apr 25, 2003 12:46 am

Oneyedchicklet, most of my favorites are also the old ones. There's something really special about movies like Sunset Boulevard and All About Eve. There's truly amazing dialogue, for example. And as for the topics, they are incredibly up-to-date, even though they ran for the Oscars more than half a century ago. There's also Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?, amazing! Again, brilliant dialogue, incredible actors. I just love the tension of the fun and games in this movie... Vertigo is one of my all-time favorites thrillers. I always liked it better than Psycho, although I like this one too. It's just that the atmosphere in Vertigo is really appealing to me. Almost all Audrey Hepburn's movies would make it into my list, and the favorites are My fair Lady, fantastic! I own the soundtrack and can't get enough of Higgins singing 'Why can't a woman be more like a man' or 'I shall never let a woman in my life'... He cracks me up, the fellow. Also love Breakfast at Tiffany's; it makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it makes me want to meet Holly Golightly and bring her home with me; and, of course, Paris, when it sizzles. I think this had to be one of the most original movies I have ever seen when I was younger. And fun! I laughed from beginning to end. Three more classic movies complete my list for this category: Some like it Hot, The Seven Year Itch and Singing in the Rain.

But I also love the 'sad relics of the 80's', as Boomstick 79 has put it. Whoopi is perfect in Jumping Jack Flash! And I love the bunny slippers too... My favorite 80's movies are all 'sad relics', I think. CanWeird Science (Kelly LeBrock...) and Howard the Duck (Lea Thompson...) be described in any other way? :) And there's almost all the movies with the 'Brat Pack' in it, with preference to The Breakfast Club. Someone mentioned The Legend of Billie Jean. Wow, this movie was always on TV in the afternoons here a long time ago, but it never aired again. It's one of those movies that reminds you you were once young, as does another flick, less famous, called in Portuguese Talvez Algum Dia, literal translation, Maybe some Day, about a teenager who falls in love with an older boy and lies about her age to be with him. It's fluffy, but adorable.

My favorites among more recent films: Magnolia and Happiness have some things in common despite the obvious differences. I love the way they portray loneliness. Julianne Moore is so moving in Magnolia! The Hours is absolutely amazing, no additional commentaries needed. The Usual Suspects, Seven, Fight Club and Funny Games are very interesting movies. In this order I put them, we have a crescendo of dark atmosphere that ends up making for a very nice weekend of popcorn...

Of course, Fucking Ämal, When Night is Falling and Beautiful Thing.

All the four Alien movies.

And many, many others...

Reading some other posts I remembered that I used to love watching these two movies: Paleface and Some Kind of Wonderful. The last one was my very first Mary Stuart Masterson flick, and I was almost immediately in love, because she was so strong and vulnerable at the same time. The movie makes you want to hit Eric Stoltze in the head with a brick or something... :) But, really, I can cut him some slack, because Amanda Jones = Lea Thompson, so... But he made the right choice at the end. Such a lovely movie, you shouldn't have to be ashamed! I'm sure I'm not. :shy

I have a fondness for classics! Here are some of my favs:

Sabrina - Audrey Hepburn was just so beautiful and William Holden was great comic relief in this sweet little love story.

All About Eve - Bette Davis was insanely talented. Great cast, great dialogue.

His Girl Friday - Screwball comedy with a fast talking Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, their performances were flawless. :rollin

Holiday - Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and backflips! :lol

Notorious - Ingrid Bergman's accent was so sexy. Spies, nazis and intrigue…Hitchcock at his best.

Casablanca - Humphrey Bogart's speech at the end as he puts his love on a plane always gets me.

Gone With The Wind - Vivien Leigh was just amazing and convincing as a Southern Belle and I love that Scarlett did things her way. And her eyes…swoon!

Mildred Pierce - Joan Crawford was a goddess! She rocked!

Pride Of The Yankees - I still cry when Gary Cooper delivers the "speech" at the end. :cry

The Paleface - Bob Hope is a comic genius and Jane Russell, a gunslinger was super hot.

Secret Life of Walter Mitty - Danny Kaye, what a funny little man he was. :lol

To Have Or Have Not - "You know how to whistle don't you?" "Just put your lips together and blow." When Lauren Bacall said this, I almost fainted. What a siren! :drool I think I read she was only 19 when this was filmed!

It Happened One Night - I second GG's comments. Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable were magnificent in this funny and sweet story.

Double Indemnity - Barbara Stanwyck, what an evil vixen, nuff said.

The Man Who Shot Liberty - I normally don't do westerns, but Jimmy Stewart was brilliant.

I could go on forever, so I'll stop now! :banana

Thespia,

That would be me. :grin

And I also loved, "Beautiful Thing." That's a very moving and beautiful movie, if I do say so myself. I have it on tape around here somewhere.

There's also another good movie that I found one day, called, "Get Real." Have that one on tape around here somewhere as well. :)

So many movies out there, it's hard to choose.

Jen,

I watched Get real some time ago and liked it a lot. These movies that deal with our contact with homophobia in our teen years are very touching, each in its own way. I love Beautiful Thing, the discovery about ourselves, falling in love, the little adventures that come with it, the sadness brought by the prejudice and the freedom and exhilariation we experience when we understand that what we feel is way more important than somebody else's ignorance, even though 'somebody' may be family... I can't watch it very frequently because 'Dream a little Dream of Me' is too catchy and I'd be humming for weeks. :)

I'd like to remember more details about The Legend of Billie Jean. You know when you have fuzzy memories about something that you know was important to you a long time ago? I was so young at the time, I remember being interested in watching because I thought it had something to do with Michael Jackson's song... I guess I was just a plain and clueless :banana
