Southern Comfort was a great doc to watch. My mom saw it on HBO and taped it and thought I would be interested in it. The good thing about it and all queer related shows is that it brings awareness to mainstream and helps bridges gaps I think. My mom even asked me had I ever felt like I wanted to be a man and that she would love me no matter what and I'm rambling but the point is she would never have thought of it if she hadn't seen the film and been drawn in by the wonderful people in it. So yay to the filmmakers and the folk that shared their life so openly and HBO.

Sorry to disappoint, friskylez, but my Irish accent is... mild. I'm actually French (which is why I'm really glad French films get to be seen outside of France), but I've been living in Dublin for the last 3.5 years... At this stage, my accent is hybrid, to say the least... Most people can still tell I'm foreign although less and less...

Molly is the genuine Irish gal on this board! I'm sure SHE has a wonderful Irish accent...

And I do agree.. it is a beautiful country...



That actually reminds me... Great Irish / British film came out a few months ago here: The Magdalene Sisters by Peter Mullan. Don't know if it's been recommended before but just in case it hasn't...

Heartbreaking because based on a true story but so good... A couple of girls I know were extras on it... Very disturbing to see more of their anatomies than I ever wished to!!!

TV smash The Simpsons is turning Homer-sexual — with an episode

showing a sizzling lesbian kiss.

The shocking moment comes as Homer's schoolgirl daughter Lisa

prepares for a college spelling competition.



In the episode — titled I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can —

the anxious youngster falls asleep and finds herself dreaming about

two toga-clad goddesses.



As they entice her to join them, the heavenly pair move up close and

share a tender full-on smacker.



The raunchy episode of the cartoon classic stunned millions of

viewers when it was broadcast in the States this week.



It is scheduled to be shown here on Sky One during the Easter hols.



Lisa's amazing lesbian dream comes as she lies in bed worrying

about the upcoming spelling contest.



As she tosses and turns under the bedclothes, she sees the goddesses

sitting on a cloud in a Roman temple.



Spiky-haired Lisa, eight, watches in amazement as the two girls share

their kiss.



Each represents different US universities which are involved in the

spelling contest.



Brainy Lisa has been asked to LOSE the national spelling contest

deliberately in return for a full scholarship.



But eventually her conscience gets the better of her and she refuses

to carry out the plan.



The episode is the Simpsons' 301st — and comes nearly 14

years after the programme first hit television screens showing the

hilarious characters in Springfield.



It now looks set to become the longest-running cartoon series in the

history of TV.



Created by cartoonist Matt Groening, the show started life as a set

of short films broadcast during other comedy shows.



It finally earned its own series and now boasts millions of fans

around the world.



And it is due to continue until at least 2005.



The programme has also been nominated for a Golden Globe award and

nominated 38 times for an Emmy Award — winning 18 times.



Channel 4 recently won a fierce bidding war for rights to show the

new series. They are paying an estimated £700,000 per episode.

Oh my God, that's hilarious. For all the wrong reasons. Whoever wrote this article is making a mountain out of a speedbump. I saw the Simpsons episode they're referring to, and trust me, it's NOT a huge thing.



"Sizzling" kiss? "Raunchy" episode? Um, yeah. The kiss lasts for like a split second - less, even - and is played purely for laughs. Lisa is trying to decide whether to throw the spelling bee in exchange for a scholarship, and so in her dream there are seven women representing the "Seven Sisters" women's colleges. They are trying to tempt her to take the scholarship, and are listing a bunch of things that she could do in college - studying, researching, etc. One of them goes "Experimenting!" and kisses another of the women. Then the dream just goes on from there.



It was a fun episode, and I thought the kiss was amusing, but it's not at all like the author of that article is making it sound. Lisa wasn't having an erotic lesbian fantasy, for Pete's sake. (Not that I would mind if she did , but this particular episode didn't come across that way.) And I don't remember anyone being "stunned" by the ep.

Has anyone else seen the Dead Zone before? It's a pretty good show and tonight's episode is great..This is the show that has been a hit for the USA network, and the same one that UPN passed on.It seems they couldn't afford it after paying $2.5 million per episode for another show....

If you haven't seen the movie Amélie yet, rent it if you can. I picked it up this weekend on a lark, and had a very entertaining evening watching it. Audrey Tautou (sp?) was just terrific (and very cute!) as the title character, and the film itself was a wonderful and funny (if slightly surreal) look at isolation and the importance of reaching out to other people. Just a terrific movie all around, and a great way to pass a boring winter night.

That's a terrific choice - I just love that film. The French just have that amazingly quirky sense of humour ! and the whole thing is just so well shot it's a complete joy to watch, the words unique and magical come to mind.



On the U.K. television front...it's great to see At Home With The Braithwaites returning tomorrow - lurching from one farcical disaster to another, spiraling further down the toilet each week ! Plus the funniest lesbian character ever, and a terrific script - well worth staying in for.

Well I finally watched Lilo and Stitch and I have to say that as much as Kathy talked about it, said how great it was, and that I'd love it...she was totally right



This is a great movie, I loved it, Stitch cracked me up so much And not a bad little story too



Highly recommended to everyone, now I have to get the DVD

Yup, gotta go with the jumping on the bandwagon for Lilo and Stitch - that films rules! I have a soft spot for 'kids' films anyway but Stitch had me laughing my ass off so much, that I may have ruthlessly abused my position at work and watched it 11 times on the big screen with a handful of friends in a screen to ourselves because I am such a sad case

Ah well, it rocks what more can I say, the bit with the blender just makes me die every time I see it - and apparently according to my friends I could give Stitch a run for his money in the lunatic destructor stakes so I guess I found my kindred spirit Think he does a better Elvis impersonation than me tho

However Lilo and Stitch has put me in a quandary because I don't know who to place my bets on in the best animated feature category at the Oscars this year It's up against Ice Age (another film I may have watched numerous times while I was supposed to be running the projection booth ) and I am torn! Sid the sloth is a dude, but does Stitch swing it? Dinner rests on my loyalties dammit! Stupid sweepstakes

And yes , I too am chuffed that At Home With The Braithwaites is back - so much so I am of to watch the video now after getting back form my exploits at Linkin Park - dammit those chaps rock a fat one live

Anyone else who likes 'subversive' type kids films - ie appeals to kids but has quite a few adult in-jokes and creates sniggers guaranteed to perplex any children you happen to be watching the flick with , may also want to check out 'Cats and Dogs' 'Shrek' and 'The Grinch' - all of them made me chuckle in places my nieces didn't

I am SOoooOOoooo on the Lilo and Stitch bandwagon!!!

I absolutely love this movie. It has become one of my favorite Disney movies.



And coincidentally, I am showing the movie to my kids on Friday in school. I think I am more excited than they are. Which is kinda stupid since I can watch it anytime I want. I guess it's also exciting to me because I will getting paid to sit in a classroom and show my fav movie to my kids. Can't beat that!

Yes, Lilo and Stitch is an excellent movie. If you haven't seen it you must go and rent it now. Everyone in my family loved it. Just wonderful.



I like Resident Evil. I never played the game but enjoyed the movie anyway. Michelle Rodriguez and Milla Jovovich, what's not to like? Y'all should go get the dvd and listen to the commentary with those two. It makes the movie about 3 times more enjoyable.

The return of At Home With The Braithwaites was truely magnificent - I see it's comes up on the Sex & Chocolate MKF ! It's like a whole years worth of dreaded soap opera manicly squeezed into fifty minutes...exactly how it should be - hilarious !. It's great to have two t.v. programmes in one week that are actually worth watching.

Can we have a television and movie unrecommendation thread as well? I watched "There is something about Mary" thursday on Dutch Tv and it has been a while since a movie has made me want to barf (I really mean movie, not tv show, because that is something else altogether ). Granted there are probably more stomach turning types of movies out there but I can usually see those coming and avoid them. This caught me off guard, I like Cameron Diaz, it wasn't her, it was everything else. Watching a guy get his dick caught in a zipper, a stalker covered in hives, a woman smearing sperm into her hair and another woman letting the inside of her mouth be licked by her Lhasa Apso just doesn't charm me like it used to.

My big wait for movies is many !!! Cos I like comics adapted movies I really wait for Daredevil (I like Ben Affleck) and X-men 2 (Mystique, Peter Wingfield). And many new big waiting movies is go on !!!!!!!!



X-Men - I think that Amber if play Rogue it better. Anna Paquin is not well choice for very strong character (and Rogue IS strong character). And Amber with white stream in hairs !!! Oh my god

I saw Bringing Down the House this weekend and although it doesn't make it onto my top favorites list, it was a hilarious movie and Queen Latifah is a "cocoa goddess." If you're interested in a fun movie, I would recommend it. Also, if you enjoyed Queen Latifah in Chicago, which she was awesome in, you'll enjoy her in this movie too.

Evening Kittens,

Just got in from work having previewed 'Phone Booth' starring Colin Farrell and despite the bad press about him recently, I have to say "whatever" and give him his credit as an actor. I thought he was bloody marvellous! He had to pretty much carry the film by himself, and gave one of the best performances I have seen on film in a long time.

The supporting cast were all top notch and for a film shot in 8 days on a miniscule budget - I was very impressed with its techincal merits as well. Granted there was maybe a few too many arty farty cutaways and a bit of dodgy lighting here and there but all in all well worth a watch. Plus it's only 80 odd minutes long so even if you don't like it you won't have wasted too much of your life I recommend it tho - trust me I'm a projectionist *he-hem*

I watched the last (and probably last ever) episode of Farscape last night, and it was seriously one of the greatest pieces of television I've ever seen. I know America still has two episodes left to air so I won't say any more to spoil it. Just make sure you watch them then start campaigning for a new series. Trust me on this one, you do not want to miss it.
