Rose/bad wolf eliminated the Daleks from all space and time. No Daleks no time war, no time war no chain of events that lead to the 9th doctor's death.

The ninth doctor may not have existed except in the memory of Rose and a few others.Other doctors deaths that were caused by the Daleks may not have happened. Have no idea what incarnation this doctor is at because of this.

The Dalek that did the emergency time displacement may have reset the reset. I doubt if it was capable of going back to the original branch.

In just 2 1/2 hours it will be starting this month!!! :D :D :D

The Telegraph has a new Russell T. Davies interview here:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jh ... xml&page=1

It claims that both a Christmas 2007 special and a fourth season are already in the works. :pinky :pinky :pinky

It also claims that Davies is just about ready to move on from Doctor Who - which isn't all that surprising, really. The only producer who stayed around for a really long time was John Nathan-Turner, and look how that turned out...

It's been announced that the Press Launch is on Wednesday 21st March at 7 pm. Apparently they will be showing an episode and have a Q&A with David Tennant afterwards.

It shouldn't take too long for the reviews to appear online!! :bounce

edited to add a whooohoooo!!!!!!!!

The first proper trailer!!

It's fantastic!! :bounce :bounce :bounce

I can't wait for all this, I really love the confident attitude Martha seems to have :D

edited again

I thought it would be too late but no...I can still edit :)

The trailer is also on Freema.Agyeman.com and it seems to be a better quality. Nice new picture of Martha on the moon on the BBC site.

The press launch is happening right now - they are showing the first two episodes.

:bounce :bounce

originally posted by Togs1 on OG

I was lucky enough to be at the press launch last night, and thought I'd share some of my thoughts observations about the episodes etc, and some of the news that has already been reported in threads elsewhere.

As you know, we were treated to the first screening of Smith & Jones and The Shakespeare Code. Both episodes benefited from being shown on a huge screen. The effects were especially impressive - The Mill's work looking like movie standard, the Shakespeare episode especially.

Some observations/impressions then, though I'm going to keep it spoiler-lite, even though we're in the spoiler section.
The main thing: I liked Martha Jones immediately from her first scene. By the time she meets the Doctor, I loved her. Freema brings such enthusiasm and honesty to the role, that the audience will, while not exactly have forgotten Rose, certainly won't miss her. The dynamic between her and the Doctor was excellent, in many ways she's a better foil for Tennant's Doctor than Rose was. She challenges him, takes everything in her stride and tries to see the positive. Freema was truly impressive in both episodes, a great addition to the team.

Smith & Jones is quite a romp, with a lot of setting up (Martha, her job, the family situation) to cover, and although this is dispensed with fairly quickly, the plot itself is a little slight naturally enough. however, it's a packed 45 mins, full of incident, great lines and set pieces. In retrospect I can see how certain corners were cut for the sake of the budget (there are several excellent, but costly effects shots) but you don't really notice as the episode unfolds.

David Tennant is confident and assured as the Doctor - some manic and mannnered moments, but these seem more natural and less forced than last season. A bold and confident start to the season I'd say.

The Shakespeare Code is perhaps even better. I'd say the funniest script of new Who by far. Some terrific lines, including not one, but two great Harry Potter gags (cleverly acknowledging that much of new Who's young fanbase are more than aquainted with the Potter books). The villains were sinister in places, but slightly more comic. Dean Lennox Kelly was excellent as a 'Liam Gallagher-esque' Shakespeare, sharing a flirtatious relationship with Martha - Freema really shines in these scenes.

The effects are truly excellent, from the shots of London and the Globe to the well, that'd be telling. However, it's the witty script that impresses the most. And the Doctor makes an enemy he never knew he had - interesting to see how that one plays out.

The episodes were followed by a trailer that included scenes from the first three shows, and snippets from the rest of the season.
Spoiler:
These included some very sinister looking humans from Human Nature, scarecrows, flying Daleks, the Doctor's wedding, a two headed mutant thing(?!!), brief snatches of Jacobi, followed by Captain Jack saluting and a still of a smug and sinister looking John Simm (without beard) in a suit in front of Parliament in what looked like a still from a TV news report. No mention or indication was given as to who he was playing, what his character was called, but he elicted pantomime boos from the audience.

Anyway, the season looks as though it'll be bigger and better than ever. The show is bristling with confidence, and on the evidence of what I saw last night, they have every right to!

And if that wasn't good enough, we've finally got official confirmation of a green-light for Season 4!

Of course, there are still those of us who will privately refer to it as Season 30... ;-)

And some of us call it a Series rather than a Season ;) It's brilliant news whatever we call it :D

There are some more videos on the Freema site, they seem much better quality than the BBC ones.

Hyper-Freema and very cool Martha clip

The clips are from the first episode so it's a chance to see Martha herself rather than just in a trailer.

But there is a new trailer too. The more I see of Martha the more I really like her :)

And just to freak out the rabid fan-boys even more...

there's a kiss!

BBC have put their own clips on YouTube. A clip of the above spoiler

They also have put on the Comic Relief clip with Catherine Tate and David Tennant. :D Am I bovvered?

Could be a complete coincidence but......the sonnet in it is Sonnet 130

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

The Galactica episode is an odd choice, I think. It's set back on occupied Caprica and mostly features the Cylon characters.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the SG-1 episode win. It's the show's 200th episode, and is really a celebration of SF on TV as a whole, not just Stargate. There are some hilarious bits with the SG-1 characters spoofing shows like Star Trek and Farscape, as well as a scene done entirely with puppets and another scene done with a "younger, edgier cast." ("Dude, that chick was so totally a Goa'uld.")

But my first choice is "School Reunion" - Sarah Jane Smith and K9, with Anthony Stewart Head thrown in for good measure. What's not to like?

It was fabulous :D

Great start to the season. Storywise probably the best of the three, although Rose will always be special.

I love Martha, she's very different to Rose and I think she works better with Ten than Rose did.

The evil alien was creepy :D

Gosh, that was fun. :grin

As Feena said, this was the best season-opener so far. And yes, Martha goes great with the Tenth Doctor. Better than Rose did, I think.

I liked the Judoon. They were a different kind of "bad guy" - not really "bad" per se, just after their own agenda. I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

And how cool is it that Anthony Stewart Head is the narrator for Doctor Who Confidential this year?

Excellent start. Loved the first episode.

Martha is great (and really hot too! ;) ). SO looking forward to this series.

I liked the Judoon. At first I thought they were Sontarans. And "Mister Saxon", hmmm....

BTW anyone catch the Doctor's "No, no brother, not anymore" or something like that?

Fun times to be had.

Yes, interesting isn't it. "No, not any more, just me."

Spoiler:
It's possible that there were plans for the Master to be the Doctor's brother back in the 1970s, but Roger Delgado was killed in a car accident and they didn't pursue it. Rumours are that RTD may be planning something similar...

Hee. Yeah, but can you blame him really? Though it is nice to hear the companions mentioned after the fact, that is one thing that bugged me about classic Who.

Now on to this one.

I liked it.

Spoiler:
I loved the fact that Shakespear was immune to the psychic paper and he figured out who the Doctor was. That was a nice touch.

Plus seeing Christina Cole (Cassie from "Hex") again, and as a witch no less, was a nice touch!

And,

Spoiler:
The true form of the aliens reminded me a lot of the the true/demonic forms of the witches in Ghosts of Albion Witchery! Maybe they are fans of Chris and Amber's work? ;)

I also really like the "Harry Potter" remark. That was great.
Martha: It's all sort of 'Harry Potter'.
Doctor: Ah, wait till you read Book 7. I cried.

And,

Spoiler:
What's up with Queen Elizabeth I!? And the Face of Bol next week!

I think this is going to be really fun.

I knew I'd seen her before! Thanks for clearing up that little mystery.

Did you catch the accompanying Doctor Who Confidential episode? It turns out they filmed this episode in the real Globe Theatre! Well, in the reconstructed one, anyway, which is as close as you can get in this day and age. And there really are historical references to a Shakespeare play called Love's Labour's Won, although nobody's sure whether it's really a "lost" play or just an alternate title to a play we already know about.

I enjoyed it, and I think it looked beautiful. I felt sorry for Martha when he mentioned Rose while they were on the bed, but I liked her reaction when he said it was just one trip. Christina Cole was great too.

I don't know if you're at all keen on football (soccer) but this Saturday you have to support either Manchester United or Watford!! It's the FA Cup semi-final and the match is on before Doctor Who. The BBC have said that if it goes to extra time and penalties then DW will be delayed until next week Image

Looks like I'll be recording DW this week. There's nothing worse than sitting down to watch a programme you've been looking forward to to find it's been postponed or cancelled, especially for football. Well there may be a few things ever so slightly more important than DW but I can't think of any offhand.
